Well said Tim 👏. To me drinking is like borrowing $1 today, and owing $10 tomorrow. Once you finally quit, you can finally start gaining some ground.

Your comment hit me. I stopped drinking when the pandemic started. I slowly started investing that money in the stock market and the way the money is growing I will be sober forever. I realized I made so many unnecessary purchases when drunk it doesn't make sense.

It took me months to quit. It was daily 2020. It was twice to thrice weekly 2021 it was once weekly 2022 in 2023 it was once monthly. Since April, haven’t done it. I am finally seeing results at the end of June. I lost my home, I became homeless, I almost became paralyzed, lost my ability to drive, totaled and crashed my car off a bridge, I’m a felon now, I went to jail, I lost my nursing license, I lost friends, I lost my hope….everything. Gained my health back- physically mentally spiritually. Found my soulmate 1.5 years ago. He also been through addiction. He helped me so much, I have too much to lose now. I was watching your videos even since I was drinking. Your videos helped me more than anyone. Thankful for you still being here and sharing your experience to help others. Now I know why you won’t have kids LOL, it’s your purpose is to be a figure/ mentor to thousands of people. Don’t stop Tim. Universe got plans for you.

I used to drink every day. A liter a day of whisky or brandy. Now i still bench drink (shame on me) but now I take a break in between. I could bench for maybe 1 week then I’ll stop drinking for 3-6 months. My goal is to eventually quite and these breaks are helping bit by bit but recently I’ve been having strong urges to drink but I told my self I’ll take a 3 month break this time and I’m im only 3 weeks in and it feels harder then last time that I took a 6 month break. Like you said sometimes it feels everyday you have to fight the struggle and you get tired of it and you just want it to be over. That’s literally how I feel right now. 😢

Using alcohol, drugs, bad habits are copes to dwell in your misery and remain in the same spot, just spinning your wheels. Once you free yourself, you can get stuff done and live your life. Also, never fool yourself that you can treat yourself with those things when you are sober.

Gave up smoking in my late 20s when the dentist told me I'd start losing my teeth. Quit cold turkey. Quit drinking in my 30s when I started to get violent and lost a really good friendship to it. Its like the ONLY thing you focus on and runs your whole life. Discovered my artistic nature & started to write & paint. Years later I would publish a book. Gave up weed 2 years ago after my awakening. Body started to reject everything. Heart palpitations, hospital trips, etc.. So much time wasted on dealing with these vices. Learned a lot and wouldn't change anything because I'm strong now, but yeah...as hard as you can, sober up! It's amazing what you will discover within yourself. Take your life back! I love who I am now. ❤

@@Byenia The most I've stayed sober was 3 months because a doctor said my liver was enlarged. She said if I stopped drinking it wouldn't be so enlarged. So that made me stop even though I had a 12 pack in my room that I kept staring at. To stop drinking is a harder goal than it seems. I just want to get to the point where I'm tired of it and forget about it.

This!! The way I view my sobriety now is VASTLY different from how I viewed it the other dozen times I quit. The time I quit for good wasn’t even my worst spell with alcohol- not even in my top 20 worst times of using. I knew it was time though cause I got insanely tired of the cycle and my goodness the hangovers. Celebrating 8 months of sobriety at the end of this month!! You’ve been one of the few ppl on TH-cam that has helped me a lot with sobriety and your videos on it are truly motivating and inspiring!

Agreed, things get harder and worse. At least that was my experience.
In October I will celebrate 4 years of sobriety.
Life has NEVER been better. Sad that it took over 30 years of abusing my body, mind, and soul.
Alcohol and drugs are soul snatchers.
End it today. Reach out to someone who has quit. Right now. They will point you in the right direction.
No, not easy. But do it anyway. Drinking and drugs aren’t easy either.
I promise your life will be a celebration. Do it.

Thank you bro for the encouragement and reminders. Always well received, needed, and much appreciated!
I recently stopped drinking for 35 days, then had a few beers on a Saturday night, which only dehydrated me and made me feel groggy the next morning. I thought to myself "why did i drink last night? It wasn't even good." That was last Saturday night. Last night which was Friday, i went to the store for food, but looked at the beer for several minutes. I finally walked away without buying any beer. I woke up today feeling fresh and clear headed. Mental clarity is a beautiful thing! What do i want to do today? Good for you for taking control of your life Tim, and thank you for helping others do the same!

At 60 drank and lived life, I think about all the things I didn't do and many likely to do with nightly beers for decades. I worked, excercised and ate well and by Gods grace still healthy as the world falls apart. I did two weeks sober and cut tobacco in half, excercised daily but that anxiety would creep in, I'm having a few tonight but it's actually not helping. The improved sleep and excercise and resemblance of sanity is way better.

Hey, tim quitting drinking and smoking is very hard. I would advise to seek god first, for strength to stop. Then, i would suggest picking a healthy habit that makes you feel good, like working out or learning a new skill or a language. Find something postive and make it your new addiction.

I had a big problem with gin, I was drinking more and more often as winter was progressing this year especially, I just moved out of my mother's house and I have been so busy and inspired by organizing and starting new and selfcare that I stopped buying gin. Its been a few weeks only but its actually a big progress bcz I was "treating" myself bcz of boredom and the loneliness (even tho I like being alone) too much

For sure replacing the alcohol with tea helped me to stop and also thinking of the money I wasted on it helped after calculating 50$ for gin every week

Thanks for sharing your story. There are spirits that dwell within that we cannot fight alone. God is the ultimate deliverer. Although one may think that he or she has the will power to resist without God; the person will fall. Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)-“For a JUST man falleth seven times and riseth up again: But the wicked shall fall into mischief”.
Your story is inspiring to those who are struggling with alcohol addiction. A question was once posed asking which drug is the most dangerous out there? And many folks responded with the most common ones like Cocaine, Heroin, Methadone, etc…and Fentanyl was included as well. I’m thinking that the answer would be Fentanyl. Although fentanyl is DEADLY; the most DANGEROUS of them all was ALCOHOL. Why? Because Alcohol destroys the home life. Alcohol has been the reason for so many societal ills. And it’s a drug that is SOCIALLY ACCEPTED. That’s why alcohol is the most dangerous. Kudos to you on your sobriety; but the most important thing that any of us can do to be truly delivered from (you said monkey on your back) I say demons, is Christ Jesus.

I use to work in a gas station years ago, they have a law here in AZ where you can't buy alcohol 2am until 6am. Their would be guys waiting for us to unlock the beer doors at 6am, if we were late, that was shocking to me people would buy alcohol that early in the morning!

Thank you so much for the great video Tim. I liked and learned so much from it I’m inclined to donate $1.99. Can you all please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers that he will finally quit drinking? He has been doing this for 32 years now or about half his life. He can only make the choice to quit but prayers and good thoughts 💭 will help. :)
