    Hey Alex, just a little tip you can always use the window in your sleeper berth to look out of when blindside backing. Also, you could even buy a little mirror and put it on your passenger visor and you can see perfectly. Those are some things I learned from all the tractor supply loads at CFI haha. STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR COMPANY AND YOUR TRUCK.
    I've been driving professionally for 20 years. Rule #1 don't air your laundry in public. Hopefully you have a long and successful driving career ahead of you. One of the ingredients to accomplish that is to keep your grievances in house. Nobody likes a bridge burner.
    About the weather.
    View it as a learning experience. Slow down and use the MANUAL option on your shifter.

    Hey Alex, something to think about with going to a Volvo. At my first company the senior drivers got peterbilts and rest of us got freightliners. After a while they bought a few Macks. While the Macks were closer to the peterbilts in build quality which is really good, the guys in the Macks rarely could get service when they needed it. That volvo is likely to be a similar experience. After a few months I got used to the freightliner and if I ever needed anything I could find a dealer or shop anywhere.

That does make a difference. Keep your windshield washer fluid full, and make sure its rated for below 0 temperatures. That will help also.

I would love a the apartment on wheels , one i saw with a stackable washerdryer, small three burner stove , with oven, a small microwave , even had shower. Toilet, small tiny sink, in the kitchen area , has a single drawer dishwasher. Enough room for all the other things needed in the kitchen. Clothes closets and storage , pantry , even small place for place to stop cleaning supplies. Bed a queen size bed . You pull down with a dining area for six of you wanted too! Couple of pointers Alex.
    You shouldn’t have to be braking a mile or even half a mile out of an exit even fully loaded. Your truck has an exhaust brake so you should be using that. It’s more efficient.
    Trucking is a job that’s done in all weather, including snow. Road closures are a normal thing in Wyoming. Route yourself around it if you look at a weather map and see some inclement weather in the way.
    I do heavy haul and I’m sometimes loaded up to 170,000lbs and I drive through all of this. I also don’t have to brake a mile in advance. Yes we are heavy, but it’s not a train.
    You seem to enjoy the job when it’s easy, but when something even slightly difficult happens you sure do complain a whole lot. You might want consider a local position or another job. It might sound harsh, but I’m just being 100% honest. Trucking isn’t for everyone.

    CDL Section 2: Driving Safely
    Talks about Winter driving, When you r dealing with adverse weather conditions
    Icy road conditions would have to take caution while driving , especially on backroads and some highways an it's a bit slick, plus would have to adjust your speed to maintain traction with out skidding.

    I used to work at a feed warehouse. The truckers used to say that the paper rolls were one of their most dangerous loads because they were super heavy and could shift

    • @ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY
      @ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      nahhh I like the heavy deliveries because it makes the ride quality on the the truck a lot smoother. right now I have a 40,000lb delivery. all in truck and trailer is 79,000lbs. ride is smooth. going uphill sucks but that's okay

      @markmcculfor6113 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY yeah, it wasn't the weight that they didn't like, it's just that when a paper roll shifts, it's really bad

      If it’s dream company then needs to suck it up and prove his worth to them. Like his videos, but if he stays with GP and runs out west in better weather, I’ve ran into snow on the 70 going over Rockies in middle of July. Went from 80s in Denver to 25 on top vail and a blizzard

    I'm in a Volvo 860 and love it. The only problem is if my truck goes down 9 out of 10 it will have to go to the dealership. Parts be limited at truckstops. Also, it rides 10x better than a Freightliner.

  • @YourLocalJohnBoy
    @YourLocalJohnBoy ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The trucks are lighted for higher payload at gross also. But yes, it very much decreases ride quality.

      I like Alexs videos, but I definitely wouldn’t call him the face of the company. He’s been bashing the company more and more it seems. Talking bad about the equipment, the routes, the micro managing, etc.. personally, I would not be expressing my displeasure with the company through my TH-cam videos… could end poorly if GP catches wind.

    Came across many customers "truckers" who visit our shop. Most of the trucks said they rather drive Peterbilt, Western Star, Mack, International, Man or Volvo over Kenworth (WasitWorth) or Freightliner. And as a mechanic, we hate working on Freightliner 🤦‍♂️. The newer the garbage...

    You'll get used to driving in snow/ice. It's not so bad. Just drive safe for the conditions and pad your expected drive times.
    And don't drive *at all* if it gets too bad out there.

    that is one thing that 4-wheelers do that really annoys me. When they can't be bothered to exit cruise control to pass a slow moving vehicle. "Nope I'll just pass at 2 mph faster and maybe slow down while I pass because there's a curve in the road"

  • @xxP1ST0LER0xx

    1:09 the kenworth has longer back flaps and the turning radius sucks on Kenworths. You can Jack knife a freight liner better than a kenworth you’ll see. On a kenworth you’ll break it.

    Hey Alex, Texas isn’t always fun too. I haul water in east Texas out of a Mack and when it freezes I’m all over the road. Even loaded with 100 barrels of brine water. It really sucks in the winter after they drill and frac a new oil well and I have to come out to basically be a transfer pump for them to blow all the water they fraced with into a big pit on the side of location. I got long johns, jeans, cover alls and the heater on full blast and still stay cold as hell. And the Mack is a day cab so it’s not like there’s a lot to heat up.

    Just letting you know parts of New Mexico are NOT prepared for winter. Lived in Albuquerque and it snows once or twice but when it does; the city is not prepared. Where I grew up, we had snow roads (roads that are normally plowed) Albuquerque does not have that whatsoever. Other parts are like that too. People are nice tho. Food is amazing as well. Guarantee you that you will notice the difference in Mexican food there than anywhere else.
