There is a chart in the owners manual for the shock adjustment based on weight and cargo. Without looking at chart my guess would be ,you should set around 2 or 3.
Hey professor I’m a noob to your channel and I’m making a come back in the bike world love your channel and your bike you’ve really done a great job. one day I hope to be as knowledgeable at doing work on any bike like you . Hopefully I’ll be street legal first week of November and I’m having a tough time finding the right gloves for now I’m just a summer and fall guy not a true four season rider yet . Thanks again your new supporter from Maryland.
Nice upgrade Sandy, I can see why they are calling you the "professor" Very articulate in.you explanations! :) By the way, not that you are asking but since I noticed, will give my unsolicited point of view. I liked the holy shift decal in the front fairing and on back but not sure I am crazy about how it looks on your saddle bags. That said, hopefully it helps with more subscribers as you are out there riding! Keep up the great work!
Adjust shocks based off the weight in your bags and passenger when there is one . Mine is at 15 with a passenger. Both of us together weigh close to 400 lbs . And what a difference it makes when you adjust accordingly
I changed my spring to 6, was 1 by factory. I am 70kg. I would love to upgrade to the Ohlins HD776, the standard ones suck. For the mount, went with the HD original one after reading posts that addons would fit badly on it and could be a problem. The HD one is adjustable in width. So far I attached the HD Detachable Solo Luggage Rack which is perfect when adding a bag for traveling.
I remember my salesman set the shocks and he weighed about the same as me so I've never messed with the shock adjustment. Hmm, I'll have to see what mine is set to and get back to you. I weigh about 185 so now has me curious. Wish I would have thought about after market when I got mine. I paid the Harley tax.
I'm 220# and have mine set at 5, but everyone seems to have a different preference to ride. I'd like to see you do a running total of your modifications, compared to if you had purchased genuine Harley parts. And Herb's right, when do you get a chance to ride?
haha...I'm an Airline pilot and currently my airline isn't flying - so I have many hours at home. During the week upgrades and on weekends long rides....
At your weight anywhere between 8-10 should be fine. Experiment a little; lower numbers softer; higher numbers stiffer. Also depends on how much stock travel the Standard has. I ride a 2020 SGS; weigh ~200# and I have mine set at 9. Enjoy your videos.
I forgot to mention that the SGS has only 2.2” of travel in the rear shocks. Too soft and it bottoms out. Had a 2017 SGS; just took delivery of the 2020. Too damn much snow/salt here in Wisconsin.
@@HOLYSHIFT Absolutely. There are some great choices out there. I'm sure you'll pick a nice one. I also see some suspension upgrades in your future. Air in back and regular Legends in the front. Maybe even a Fatty front tire🤔. Possibilities are endless....😎
If they are 12” shocks it should be 12” when you’re sitting on it from mounting bolt to mounting bolt. Have John measure it while you’re sitting on the bike and then adjust it up or down if needed in order to have it at 12” under load. If they are 13” shocks .. then it should be 13” ... mounting bolt to mounting bolt
To add another extra pain in the ass, a 2021 rk does NOT have those 4 factory bolts. Further, the bolts in the kit are way too fricken long and become taut while the bracket is still wobbling about and not fixed to anything. 🤬
Sandy watching you and John just makes me want to go out and spend money on parts LOL 😎🇺🇸👍
Glen, amazon or EBay, nothing else 👍🏻 😆 LOL 👍🏻
I’ve been ordering all week!🤙
Cool vid. The music intro is cool, hits hard but doesn’t go on forever. Liked your honest take on it.
I didn't see where u left the info . I have a 2021 roadking and need to order. Thanks
Below the video in the description area there is a link to the item
Great video. Putting my kit on tomorrow. Just what I was looking for.

Just checked - You're spot on ! Thanks
Sandy look in your Harley-Davidson manual it gives you the click settings per weight for your rear shocks!
Thanks - done !

Hey buddy- welcome and thanks for joining the group. Trying to create a fun community here. Most important ride safe . Have fun
@@HOLYSHIFT do you have any glove recommendations
Not really - actually I'm on the hunt for Heated gloves. Probably Gerbing....
Great video. Just curious if the bolts came loose. Sorry in advance if you already answered this below but I did not read all the comments.
Nothing loose - 2 years later
Love the Holy Shift decals on the bags ... you’ve taken the TH-cam plunge!!! LOL
Nice holy shift sticker on the bags.

Sacrifice the looks a bit for growing the channel....
Nothing to worry luck tight my friend
When do you find the time to ride and create these videos? Great stuff. Number first!
Lots of time off lately - upgrades during the week and rides on weekends

Thanks- I guess I need to change mine to 3

I checked manual and at 80 kg about - its 2-3 clicks. That's where I'm going...
Hey Sandy. Do you still have the slot fillers you removed to install your docking hardware? If you do I would be interested in purchasing them.
I do have them. Email me on my website please

Just checked the table in manual,,,, 2-3 units

Just found the manual - it said 2-3 according to my weight...
20 and 25 with a passenger.
It's a better ride
I forgive the no blu-loctite .. LOL

Oh man Sandy. I have a set of those would have given it to you for free :(
Now you tell me.....😂😀🤪
the best thing to do with the shocks is throw them in the garbage they're absolute trash a 2x4 would do a better job than those shocks
Haha - so true!
