    The Shakira and matador likeness is because it's a beat called batucada which is made to make you dance.
    It was made to be played by drummers and horn player to be walking around the city during celebrations. Love it.

    I discovered Los Fabulosos when I was living in Spain in the early '90s - it was big in the night clubs there and this track, especially, was great to dance to.

    For people that dont know, as someone mention. Is it mostly ska and rock but all these sounds that are not familiar is because they are originated in rio de la plata. Is not brasil samba, though i get the confusion. But is batucada, murga and candombe the styles of music that they are know. These genres are getting more popular outside of that area but not so much anyway. Murgas, candombe and batucadas are kind of big bands sometimes with dancers, singers, etc. These a very popular and loved styles in mostly Argentina and Uruguay theres tons of bands doing stuff like this. Actually it is very common for local rock bands to mix rock with other local styles

    Ska was a type of music from Jamaica in the 1950s. It was a fusion of several styles including calypso and jazz. Ska saw a revival in the early 1980s. Some British New Wave groups tried to imitate it but Nope! The revival was more successful in Latin cultures, This piece is ska influenced but extends it roots even wider. 🕺

    That was really good I liked that. The horn section fused that merengue very well as did the whole band. It had me swaying a bit and I'm out by a McDonald's drive thru. I liked the ending the drums crushing out. I don't know what to call him but that Saturday Night Fever posing guy. Cheers Maggie.

    There is a name which is relevant in this song which should never be forgotten and it is the reason for it VICTOR JARA he was a very representative figure of a social and cultural movement called the Nueva Trova, when the dictatorship was imposed in CHILE and was deposed its president with weapons during the night the Armed Forces were mobilized and these were sent to arrest political dissidents among them VICTOR JARA along with 12 thousand more people and taken to the soccer stadium in Santiago de CHILE he was assassinated in a brutally and barbaricly they cut off the fingers of his hands so that he would never play his guitar again and they ripped out his tongue so that he could never sing again while he bled to death and the soldiers laughed, shot dead at close range this song is a tribute to him talks about these situations that are experienced in the world of dictatorships and the deaths of their political opponents

    Dunno if you figured it out, it's a song about a matador (bull fighter/ guerillero) who sang the truth against government and how the government was hunting him. He was on a corner of the room with a rifle waiting for the ending. And how the fascist government celebrates his death but his the people grieves his death. Is dedicated to Victor Jara, a communist musician from Chile who was tortured, killed and exhibit naked post mortem as a sign of "power" that the military government had in Chile during the Coup D tat

      No, is not, it clearly says "Víctor Jara", and the Che was a murderous genocide who had concentration camps where he killed innocent people, and wrote his gruesome murders on his diary.

    • @jerovergarasanfurgo2289
      @jerovergarasanfurgo2289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobliboggin7375 you are right, its not based on "el che", back in the time someone told me that and since the lyrics are open I believed so, but also it isnt based on Víctor jara, just googled and its inspired by an imaginary figure about someone who defends social justice. Plus idk, it seems more acurrate to depicts hitler as the german figure of european colonialism than as a "murderous genocide", just saying, the second one explains not much, a friendly suggest is to read Aime Cesaire "speach about colonialism" to get why
