Amazing , very cool , when I was a kid we lived in Brazil , MG the rural cattle and cheese state , there was one old dude like this in the 90’s Argemiro was his name . you could go to his little shop and he had all those exotic animal multi colours leathers , he could make anything you wanted , I mean anything with several colours combo with chrome or gold plated boots point or hills metals engraved details , man I didn’t know back then that it wasn’t the just on the corner usual shop , I wish more people would take this trade , I wish I could go back there and learn it from him , he’s probably dead by now ! Bless this dude awesome skills bootmaker , to me it’s one of the coolest things to be able to make . Australia
Pedro. São Paulo.
Finally there's somebody else like me, I also have size 8 4E feet. Finding foot wear that I can wear is a challenge. I need to just bite the bullet and spend the money to get custom made boots. The sticking point is that real boot makers, like other craftsmen, are worth their pay and they're worth a lot.
Sorry, this isn't Bob's youtube channel. I just shot the video. He learned how to make boots by job shadowing another boot maker years and years ago. If I see him, I'll be sure to ask what he recommends.
I wish mine had. I need to start a line of wide calf boots for women. They make the calves so freaking small on women's boots if you have a muscular calf or a fat calf you don't get to wear the best boots.
It’s funny about your shoe size my Dad wore the same size and he wore Boots all the time We lived in Florida and Dad had a couple of stores on the West Coast of Florida that we always went to whenever we were close because they carried his 8.5 EEE in stock from a couple of companies ! I was lucky to not inherit that wide foot although 10 years ago i suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury that caused som paralysis in my legs and now in order to walk i must wear a custom made leg brace and use a cane the brace i wear does make it that i need to wear Custom shoes i get from the same place that makes the braces for me
This was a beautiful master class. I have a pair of cowboy boots that are 25 years old and they look brand-new. I think they are Factory boots, but I grant you I wore them five years and then I let them set for 3 then wore them a few times . I didn't wear them daily. They are beautiful black shiny. I have another pair of Charlie 1 horse boots Factory I'm sure. Cost three times as much and feel like crap. I well then once in 8 years. They're pretty but that's it
What I would do since I don’t have much skill is I would make some high moccasins and put some simple leather heel soles on them as then I put a thick leather lining on the inside that would keep it stiff
Thank you for taking the time to document this true american craftsman! There are so few people that are this dedicated to providing this high caliber of work and take pride in what they do... the fact that he only does business by word of mouth speaks volumes to how rare this really is these days unfortunately. I hope that we (as a society) keep encouraging craftsman like this to continue, it sure would be a shame if people with these sorts of talents become more extinct than they already are! I would love to know what Bob's contact info was...
@@Welther47 exactly, and this video is about cowboy boots, and this lady was talking about craftsmanship in the states. Really nothing to do with Europeans, and Europeans can't make good cowboy boots at all. Stop boasting about craftsmanship in Europe, better stay humble especially on crafts that Europeans have no idea about. I honestly do not like Europeans' condescending arrogance that they believe they're better in every aspect than Americans, which is not true.
I wear a very big shoe size, a 12 (south african) 46 (Europe) 13 (US) I struggle to find shoes my size and I really want to make my own but I'm not a skillful leatherworker.
Could yiu ask him please if it's possible to reduce the size of a pair of bokts, tha tis, say I find a pair I love but they are huge on me. Could you deconstruct the boot, soak, trim and re-shale using a new last? (I also have trouble finding boots that fit and have often wondered if this re resizing would be possible)

There seems to be so few people who have this kind of dedication to their craft.

Leon Drb I could try to set you up with his contact info if you’re interested.
Do you happen to still have the uncut version of the video? There's so much to learn from Bob. Thanks!

Simply not true. Lots of people are this dedicated in providing high caliber of craftsmanship. Especially in Europe.
@@Welther47 nah, there's almost none cowboy boot makers in Europe.
@@YasuOsatoku cowboy boot fashion isn't really a thing other parts of the world. Though there are places.
However, I did say leather craftmanship.

Damn, I have your feet. Same problem with store made boots.
How do you "transfer the measurements" onto the last?
He adds leather, like patches onto the last, therefore getting the specified size on that particular client/order.
