- According to SEIU United Service Workers West, Tomas “Jose” Mejia was working at Park La Brea when he tried to stop an intruder from entering the building. The would-be intruder then stabbed Mejia, who died after being taken to a local hospital.
We don't give a crap if the murderer is 17 years old, release his name and charge him as an adult.

He stopped being a minor when he committed murder in the commission of another crime (breaking and entering). He needs to be sentenced as an adult. This "kid" is not the victim here where we have to protect his identity for safety reasons.

He can be tried as an adult and there have been 17-year-olds sentenced to life without parole in California. However, there is a push to get LWOP abolished for anyone under 18 and a lot of states have gotten rid of it.
