When I was around 12 I was making a treehouse and was trying to hammer a nail into a board which would then be hammered into said tree. The nail was in the board but I had gotten the dimensions slightly wrong (I was 12) so the board was running adjacent from the tree! So, I got the bright idea to hammer the board into the tree with my HEAD! (again, still 12). The best part was that it worked a charm and I still have the treehouse 7 odd years later, although it's now home to a family of raccoons

You should mix up some different colored resins and pour them onto your Rockler mat to make a bunch of that resin spaghetti, then cast the different colored spaghetti in some more resin. It should make for a really cool effect, and would be cool to see a video on.

Test your CNC cuts in foam. :-) If you have anew pattern your'e cutting, something you don't know whether it will cut right or not, take some thick structural insulation (the pink, blue, or green stuff) and use it to test whether or ot your CNC is cutting right or not. ;-)

Also first one was much better and cleaner, you can tell he was pissed and slopped on second attempt in a rush. It was droopy and misshapen and couldn't see pages whereas first book was clean and neat and sharp and every page was visible, showing care he took with application in first book

I *think* the issue there might be that you can easily end up with dry spots (areas where the pages vacuum together rather than get glued/soaked by the resin) causing resin voids in the final product, making it very weak. Not certain at all however, do think it could be worth a try at least.
Dude 5:30 those epoxy noodles from silicone mat are awesome!! I bet you could weave an epoxy hat or create a project with resin noodles. Very pleasant and satisfying to see them easily removed in one piece

Yeah, you CNC depth of cut is WAY off. You need to make many shallow passes (about 1 mm should work) but make sure there is time for the resin to cool (it gets grabby when it is hot.) I hope @Adam Savage See this, but you can also contact @Tested and send it to him with a note.

Loved the video! I program CNCs for a living and you were correct in what went wrong on your machine. Depth of cut looked way too deep for the material and the rigidity of your machine, tooling, and hold down set up. Try limiting your depth of cut to 1x the diameter of your cutter and play with the feed rate and rpm til it sounds good when cutting. Try to ramp or spiral into the material if you can.
Another machinist here- Yep, far too aggressive. The cutting force was more than the stepper motors could counter, so the cutter chose its own path. Stepper-driven mini mills often lack encoders, so missed steps result in it not knowing where it is, and worse yet it's not aware that anything's wrong. Too deep a depth of cut, too high a feed rate, a dull cutter, or numerous other issues can turn your little machine into a mechanized Ouija board.
In this case, that wouldn't help, since the problem seemed to come from the density of the material itself. However, the same principle could be applied by turning the book over, so that any mistakes are on the non-facing edge.
Just wanted to mention for resin coloring with stuff you can use nail dipping powder! I use it and it works like a charm! You can also use nail polish (yes really) a very small amount, I would test out for yourself!

I was thinking he should use a diamond cutter or carbide burr as well.
