    Thanks for mentioning volunteer trail crews. They are the unsung heroes of trail networks, and put a ton of effort into keeping everything open and riding well.

      Tbh I love trail work just as much as riding. Nothing like riding your own work.

    Great video you can tell this is clearly one of Neil's favourite things about the sport and his experiance & energy is awesome

    A great video again. This type of trail is pretty much what we ride here in Japan on the island of Shikoku. No real parks here, just bombing down hiking trails. Thank you Neil!

    I recognise that trail - near Y2K / Elephant Man at the FOD! The first rocky steep bit is gnarly!

    My favourite type of trails are natural because we don’t have bike parks where I live… about two and a half hours down the coast from finale… so I get what you said about it.

    Definitely my personal preference for trails. I am not into the machine built flow and jump lines it seems have become the norm. I love natural tech and rocks, but I do enjoy the hand built wooden features like skinnies thrown in here a there.

    • @gmbn
      @gmbn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, big man-made flow trails aren't for everyone! Wrestling your bike down a tech trail is such a good feeling!

    Nice vid. Natural trails are the best 😍 Only the bit with the wind noise is horrendous 😱

    Always something to learn from The Don. I never thought about roots that way but it makes so much sense. Smiled a bit when I read „hoping“ instead of „hopping“. Yes, that‘s me on a bike. 😂

    The best rides are the blind ones ! The sensation of fast reflexes/thinking, and adapting as fast as possible to the terrain you see in front, its just amazing

    Roots fan out from trees, so ride closer to the tree. That took me ten years to work out, the hard way, Neil’s skills videos are genuinely gold!

    Many of my local natural trails are in dense forests. My riding suits are full of tears and holes as a result. One important skill is to not get distracted by those when riding.

    Great video, natural trails are the best in my opinion. My local state park is a all natural trails and my favorite place to ride. One thing I’ve noticed if I go to a trail center I find myself critiquing the way the trail was built. In my opinion natural trails make you focus more on your riding technique because the trail is what it is and it’s up to you to figure it out. I’d love to see more videos like this one. 👍

    I love these informative type of videos I'm fairly new, so any advice is welcome. I'd love to see a return to the same trail for spring and sumner to see how they ride differently. Keep up the good work. 👍🙂

    I've found a trail in my local woods that has two big rocks sticking out of the ground, one after the other. The trail is so narrow, I can't drop off of the bigger one and skip the one after. Can just barely ride over them, but it's extremely sketchy due to having to go really slowly and the second rock just waiting there, trying to trip up my front wheel. I almost went over the bars when I tried riding them lol

    Thank you I agree the best trails for all to scare yourself and to be closer to the outdoors-nature :) I see more deer and squirrels and warblers on natural trails than modified free style over groomed ones :(

    Wet riding is pretty nice, youd think its more dangerous but normally you are going slower and when you crash you usually slip along instead of having one hard impact.

    those are the only trails I get to ride most of rhe time. I bounce back and forth between going to hard and riding rhe brakes because I don't know whats coming. I really want to commit this year to fixing that. My bike skills usually get me out of trouble but its never as fun as hitting the sweet spot.

    it's those damn 2"-5" tree stumps hiding in the undergrowth that catch me out, why they get cut down like that on trails and footpaths i don't know.
    yeah i love those natural trails were you have to create the 1st line as it were,
    i used to train for hours in places i have never visited before, just remember not to dig everything up to much with that back tyre.

    GMBN, I really like your videos but every time you use POV stuff with a GoPro the footage looks absolutely terrible, you really need to use superview/ hyperview

    After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.

    Despite what humans do, nature soon reclaims and repossesses her turf. What was once man-made becomes natural again. Our venerable Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is scarred by a myriad trails carved out by coal miners- the last mines closed since about 1875. 😌 No better place for MTB- at your own risk.

    • @suspiciousstew1169
      @suspiciousstew1169 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pennsylvania’s forests do look a lot like the one in this video, at least more than what they look in virginia

      @@suspiciousstew1169 Very true. As I was watching Neil, I could visualize our own terrain, it’s strikingly similar. We probably have more snow (and snowmelt till May 😉) than the UK.
