@Santa Anna I don't know I've never debated with animals about this , you can't say all animals only respond to the foodchain law always, Truth is there's a lot we don't know about species sometimes different races ally. Anyways I was talking about meritocracy being defined like that not natural instinct or animal instinct. Besides philosophers argued for centuries about what human nature if it is good or bad, if it revolves on dominance, purity, kindness or violence. And also about if we should ,we humans as social individuals respond to our natural urges or not. Those questions don't imply only one answer. I personally believe as Emmanuel Kant that we're social individuals and as such (even though things are far from perfect and sometimes, especially today our societies can push towards more violence)living in a society pushes us to put our natural urges for violence and dominion aside. Plus having a conscience make us capable of empathy and self-reflect which pushes us to be better.
