The shot inside the tender link shows 4 connectors at different levels and putting pressure under the link when running which suggests the connectors should all be level with equal pressure on the link to work ?
Yes, they are at different levels. I've just watched another guy fixed on that unleveled connectors. Mine was finally fixed with another way on my last video.
Thanks for the helpful review! I too live halfway across the world on this side and totally understand how you feel. The same new drawbar has not shown issues on the A4 I own, but this batch of Black Fives seem to be hit or miss. (btw you might want to blur out on the invoice as your address may be visible!)
Yes, I don't have such issue with the electrical drawbar on my A4 Mallard nor on Flying Scotsman either. Thank you for pointing out about my invoice! I totally missed. Cheers, Patt.
I've been waiting my hold childhood for British OO steam trains to have pre-installed headlamps! It looks awesome! Now I wish it had a smoke system and didn't have any running problems. very sorry to see your model is defunct and has problems running.
British steam locomotives never had "pre-installed headlamps". On UK steam locomotives lamps were used exclusively to identify the type of train that was being hauled by positioning the lamps in varying (usually four) locations on the buffer beam and near the top of the smokebox. They were not used to "light the way ahead" New build post WW2 LMS, LNER, and SR steam locomotives were fitted with permanent electric lights but were quickly abandoned as they couldn't be seen in daylight hours by signalmen and railway staff to identify the type of train being hauled. The traditional lamp was filled with oil and lit for night time operations only. The 999 steam locomotives built by British Railways (1951-1960) were never fitted with electric lights. Hornby have got this all wrong.
@@crewelocoman5b161 Thanks. I know that but I still think steam locos with lamps and a red firebox glowing in the night still look like a beautiful scene.
If you have not already sent it back, i have an answer to your problem. I had the same issue, and after working on the socket part of the tender, mine now works beautifully. If you still have it, i can private message you with instructions
This one could finish Hornby... Do they ever fully test these things..? Well no, throw them in a box and take your money.. Nothing wrong with the old model, at least it run, out of the box...😮
Hi Patt , I understand your dissapointment, but try cleaning the contacts with isopropylalcohol, seems this solves the problems.Have you seen Sams second video about this model, and little wickett video.
Thank you so much for your suggestion and comment. I'm watching it right now. I'd probably try to solve the issue than send it back, I hope. Cheers, Patt
Such a shame you had an issue with this model Patt 😢. Wasn't impressed with the way Kernow sent the box either. Hornby quality control has not been good on this model it seems.
Hornby’s quality has significantly decreased while prices are skyrocketing. It forced me to quit the hobby after buying 2 locos. Hornby have really lost their touch
@@PattRail its true honestly, even on the flying scotsman review you did last year the dome fell off. plus the price has increased overall, just isn’t worth it in general
Yeah, not good at all, sorry you should be treated with such poor quality for what is a very expensive model. Hornby are steadily out pricing themselves with poor quality and limited choices in variations of loco types.
You're right. I'm really interested in the new smoke generator but only Black5 in the BR livery has the smoke generator fitted. Not sure the reason behind why Hornby can't do it with other liveries too
Genuine good content
