It's great to see guys like Tanev and Edler continuing the traditions, work ethic and team identity passed down from the Sedins, who got it from Markus Naslund, who got it from Trevor Linden, who got it from Stan Smyl, and that's about how far I can go back in my Canuck fandom. Ya love to see it.
I'd say that's probably where it started with all due respect to the players on the team prior to that.

I remember during the finals against Boston when he stepped in, and just being so much in awe of his defensive abilities that he stole my attention away from the fact it was the finals. It was amazing to watch. Thinking damn who is this kid?
As Bieksa once said after game 5 of the finals;
“He could have played the game with a cigarette in his mouth, he’s so calm and cool out there.”
and this gem

This shows once again how important it is to have all kind of people in a squad to make it work. Props to you, Tanev!

Chris Tanev has been my favorite Canuck for a long time . He may not be a top goal scorer but he can do it all. If you want to learn how to be a great all round player ...watch Tanev :)

When I saw that 2011 Vancouver team I teared up... so close.
When they beat the Blues yesterday, as happy as I was for the young core, I was happiest for Edler and Tanev, those dudes have been awesome servants to the team, and I’m so glad they stayed long enough to win another series.
I hope the resign him. Even above Toffoli. Super underrated what he brings to the team.

Nah he’s been pretty solid. Taken a lot of hits, but been second in all blocked shots for Canucks. Not as strong as Hughes, but he’s been pretty solid
