Active Sand Dunes in the Prairies? | The Great Sandhills | Saskatchewan Canada 【4K】

  • The Great Sandhills contain one of the largest set of active sand dunes in Canada.
It is a protected area and lies within the Great Sandhills Ecological Reserve in southwest Saskatchewan.
The sand was deposited around 12,000 years ago when the glaciers that covered this region began to recede.
Covering 1,900 square kilometers the hills are always moving and create an ever-changing landscape.
Home to native grasses, abundant wildlife, the Ord’s Kangaroo Rat and many species of birds the sandhills are a paradise for bird watching and nature photography.
The other areas you can find sand dunes are at Douglas Provincial Park and the most well known the Athabasca Sand Dunes in northwest Saskatchewan.
Make sure you put the quality up to 4K or as high as your display will go for the full experience.

This was a very cool spot to experience that I never knew much about until recently. We always heard of the most famous Athabasca Sand Dunes in the north that are very difficult to access but there are other spots to see sand dunes in Saskatchewan. These Great Sandhills and there are more at Douglas Provincial Park a bit further to the east. I hope you enjoyed this I sure did. Thank you!
