I am so glad I work with equipment that can make the same things they are but in a fraction of the time and at far tighter tolerances. I can make gears and shafts from solid steel that would last far longer than this stuff. I don't know why they still do things like this other than to make things cheap.You get what you pay for, though.
I love how every one of these facilities have Ewoks working in the background. You never see them, but you sure can hear ‘em!

Good job lads! Nice to see some younger guys working the industry. There's a lot of spoilt western kids out there who could learn a few lessons.
I was amazed how this guy was able to follow preliminary lines of curved surfaces so accurately with a manual shaper. Heat treatment and machining to final size is yet to come for those parts which is out of scope for this shop and will be done by the client i assume. Awesome video.
I doubt there will be a heat treatment.
I used a manual shaper to make tooling at a gas appliance manufacture, i wonder how long it took for this gear, every stroke you have to be 100% focused.

Buyer would have to be quite a big industry to buy such a thing, but what sane company would buy a gear cast out of scrap metal and gear cut using a template profile???

@@sparkie996 Recycling some scrap metal is standard. Using scrap metal entirely and casting with steel standard Unknown is unheard of in my industry.
It's a form of developement aid.
China buys all this pakistani stuff and melt it down again.
The gears are used in the domestic sugar mill pulp industry in Pakistan and some others nearby. I've seen these gears on AliExpress around $400+ a pop.
If you oversize the gear, it will last long enough to compensate for the lack of precision in manufacturing. Maybe the just use a magnet to catch the filings in the gear oil while it grinds itself smooth. It works.

No not by 100% the metal shaper return stroke is faster than the cutting stroke. More cut power, fast return.
