My Staffordshire lived 17 yrs and he was,and is my most loyal loving companion,he passed, away 9-8-23 ,the most pain I've ever felt ,and happiest I ever felt ,and still as hard as it is losing him ,he is all worth the pain of losing him,he will live always in us that knew him.
My Staffordshire is the naughtiest dog I’ve ever owned. He’s ten now I thought he would have calmed down by now. Although he can be a pain he’s a good laugh and we wouldn’t be without him.
Staffies are hard to master. I have had many other bigger and formidable breeds that I found easy to train but the Staffy although seriously cute is also obstinate and incredibly naughty. They do take longer to mature. However they bring so much love and joy to the table. If you don't want a best canine friend or welcome member of family, don't get a Staffy. They will want to be part of your life every step of the way.
I used to bathe a landlady's Staffie Peggy, and brush her teeth with a toothbrush with a special soft rubber attachment for dogs! Barely managed to dry her off, and she'd suddenly jump out of the bath, just about let me get the worst off with her towel, then jump into landlady's bed, nice and snuggly, under the duvet! Miss you Peggy ❤️🐕🏠
My staffordshire bull terrier was put to sleep the other night after 16 years, she was my bestest friend in the whole world. No other dog will ever come close to what she was. My baby.
My first time with a staffy, I fell in love when I seen this random person walking this little stocky dog with such a beautiful attitude yet looked so scary,, I petted and fell in love with such a playful puppy nature,, she’s the most loving loyal trustworthy being I have even met
I just got my 1st Staffy. Just a baby. She's 6 weeks old. Very happy with all you had to say about the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I've been researching the breed way before I decided to get her. And my 6 year old daughter loves her Roxy. That's what we named her.
Most loyal, faithful and utterly amazing dog. My blue girl is my daughters best friend, doesn't leave her side.Like any other breed of dog, it's how you raise them, train them and treat them.
Never had a dog before but I really love to have one. I have 3 children age 8-11 and I've done loads of research on dogs. The staffy seems to be my favourite, so hopefully it will fit in with my family.
My boy is a little ray of sunshine in my life! He just wants to do everything with me wether I'm up for a mad 2 hour walk or a 10 sleep in when I'm lucky lol. My first dog was a German shepherd, obviously I loved him dearly but I'd truly would be lost without my Staffy, he is very special to me and my family.
Got mine from the animal shelter two years ago, she is great and want to be everwhere i am and please me. Got 4 of them from 88 to 2003 and all died at old age and sickness. Best dog and companion you can have, if you teach and guide them well.
My boyhood dog. His name was Otis. Black with white belly and a mask over his snout. I had a special whistle for him, it was three notes the third slightly higher and raised. Whenever I whistled like that, he would come no matter where. When I came home sometimes he would bark the three tones--I kid you not. It was a very dignified ruff ruff ruffff. Play hard, cuddle hard.
My staffy bitch isn't a pet, she's a family member also that's been a truly incredible companion to me. Loyal and by my side and always obeyed my command. Even in season with male dogs she listens to me FIRST. What an incredible dog and i must say I clearly did something right when I raised her from 8 weeks old. I read many books on the breed and dogs in general and spent lots of time making her well trained and sociable. I would rescue every single one if i could
James Murphy Staffies are a breed characterised by the arseholes who keep them not as family companions but for the supposed reputation of the breed, and they’ll encourage aggressive behaviour... There is a good reason why Staffordshire bull terriers have such loyal and loving supporters in spite of their bad reputation. Something I have never seen in dog bite statistics is who the owners are... what percentage of said staffies came from bad backgrounds as supposed to say Labradors who are universally known as a family dog... I would love to see the distribution of dog breeds centred around the humans who keep them.
Wonderfully done video. Very informative. Without coming across as being commercial or pandering. I found that what was said to be spot on. As I have had staffs and pits now for over 20 years. Got to love them once you have had one. And if the dogs was not a totally traumatised by previous human owner. Thank you for putting this video together.
friendly if socialized and friendly towards family members.I hate when people assume just because dog is friendly within household it will immediately reflect onto strange people or other strange animals
I'm John's wife. He passed away 10/04/20 My Amstaff is in deep mourning. I didn't know dogs grieved that way. I got her a kitten to try to help. She loves all other animals.
The first time I saw that trait of staffy's getting their legs out straight was racing my staffy cross around the farm on my motorbike. She was on one side of a fence line and I was on the other and there was a gate in her way but not mine. I was sure It'd work to my advantage but as I looked across at the point she should've been making a double leap over the high stock gate, she was already fully airborne, with her fore legs straight out in front of her and her back legs sticking straight out behind her. She cleared the gate with just a couple of millimeters to spare and looked for all the world like a canine version of superman while doing it. It was blimmin awesome to see and matched the awesomeness levels she achieved every minute of every day she was alive. Staffy's are easily the best grin-makers on this spaceball.
If you want to get a staff then be prepared for the overwhelming amount of love and loyalness that you will be bombarded with. Some people may actually find them too clingy but that depends on how you raise them as puppies. But i must admit that it is hard to reject them and be strict when they are pining for your love and attention.
Staffies are more than a dog there a friend for life......... If I wanted to get another staff I would defo get one from a shelter theres plenty of good guys in there waiting for a second chance 🐶 🐾
My Staffy knew a family member died and my kids were very upset the dog never left there side for weeks he could tell there emotions very very loyal dog
Awsome vid, awesome dogs.My little guy is 4 months old. he's the best dog I've owned. He does what ever I do. If i'm laying around on the couch, so is he. If i'm walking around the house, so is he. he's already walking on a leash by my side like a pro with minimal training and very little correction needed. he plays with all the dogs at the dog park but 1 thing I have noticed is he tries to dominate the other dogs big or small. i'm trying to get that out of him but not sure if I can tho.
They are amazing and versatile dogs. What do you mean when you say he dominates other dogs. If he is being rude and a bit of a bully the best course of action is to put him back on lead so he understands this behaviour means end of play. :)
yeah that's what I meant, he tries to bully other dogs, not always but I have seen him try to do it a few times. he is a confident little boy. he always tries to get his chin on the back of the necks of each dog he encounters, and when they won't allow it he keeps nipping at them, and starts getting a little aggressive. when it gets to that point I get him away from all the dogs and sit him next to me until he calms down. But I will try the leash next time. thanx for the reply.
lke the bit about toys you are right there mine has a football for about 5 mins max she just loves getting the bladder out for some reason ,the only toys that last are nylon bones or very solid hard rubber toys ,just bought one that is guanteed to last 5 years ha ha we will see she has never chewed any thing else ,we got her from rspca rescue love her to bits so affectionate and like you say wants to go every where you go and eat every thing you have .
Our rescue staff is very reactive to other dogs and cats and anything that moves but is the most loveable dog. He can't have anything hard to chew on because he has broken teeth with how hard his bite is so Nylar bones, raw bones, etc are out for him. We wouldn't part with him now, despite his issues, he is a fantastic dog
Have had a few SBT's and agree with everything said in this video. I do think people need to be forewarned that because of their fighting roots, they are a lot more prone to want to fight other dogs, and fight viciously. I used to do shows a lot, and I know a lot of owners and breeders. And most if not all them agree that especially the males will sooner or later reach a point where they cannot be around other male dogs they don't know. This is my personal experience as well. That said, they are the best breed I ever owned, and I am currently looking into getting a female again. They've got all the good traits of a human, and none of the bad ones. ;)
correct, just had a morning run with my 8 mth old male staffy in local public park and what happens?around the ally that joins park and street comes Am.Stafford full grown/adult,off the leash and owner tried to make me like in the wrong, lol, claiming how dog doesn't bite,I tell the idiot it's not same people and dog to dog interaction.People just get a dog for all the wrong reasons, never read or research much,I just can't stand irresponsible owners.next time I am reporting his ass,no question.
Staffys are awesome but their heads are like bricks & can hurt & even knock you out with their brick heads !! mine jumped up when i bent down & caught me square on the chin & i was seeing stars !!
Neil Heron staffies don't have lock jaw. The only dog that has a lock jaw is the bull terrier and not because they are bad dogs but due to the shape of there head.
I have one she is a year old brilliant dog don't leave my side sleeps with my son at night sleep in font of my brothers baby wen he comes round would not change her she is my best friend
Loved this video But I would say that Staffs need a lot of exercise Marvin and me would walk 20 miles in a day, in the Lakes, or Wales; but I know he was not happy when I have to go to work, and Marvin has to stay at home
Are they escape dogs? I have a good solid 6' (2 m) fence, can they be left alone in the backyard while at work? Provided they get exercise and attention while I'm home.
Caz Gerald tbh mate, as long as there is no gap or owt where they could get through it shouldn't be a problem, my Staffy is fine on back garden and always comes when I shout her, try and maybe sit in garden and watch him/her, to see if they escape?
Really it depends how athletic your individual dog is but you can always add coyote rollers to the top of your fencing to stop them pulling themself over.
Caz Gerald I would say yes, very much so if they are left too long alone in the backyard. The six I have had over the past 30 odd years have all done so, some more than others. They are very good jumpers but I personally have found they are excellent diggers. Plenty of toys changed around regularly should do the trick and if possible stop into home during your lunch break.
if you leave them all day unattended in the back garden while at work... expect them to be gone on the very first day when you arrive home. theyll get over that fence. out in the yard while you're home is fine, but not to be left all day alone
My girlfriend and I are thinking of getting this breed. She wants to play with it and train him/her, but I'm more for just sitting in the couch and reading while hopefully having him/her keeping me some company in a relaxing way. Is this realistic with Staf Bull? It seems to be according to this video, but we read elsewhere that the breed was very energetic indeed, which might be problematic. We love most of what we've seen, though. We live in a 77 square meter apartment if that means anything, but green spaces abound in the area:)
Hey! I would say that Staffies are a high energy breed, but very adaptable. Keep in mind that they are very intelligent dogs and need mental stimuli as well, I usually do tricks, playing fetch, sniffing for treats around the house etc. so my Staffy gets to use her head a little. As long as they get to be with you most of the time, and have had their walk and outside play session, they should be happy lounging on the couch the rest of the day. I work 4 days a week, 9 hour days and my pup is just fine sleeping and chilling out by herself for a workday as long as we have been on a solid walk before i go - I also have a neighbor let her out to pee halfway through my shift when I work. When I get home I let her out for some running and playing fetch in the garden and then we are both ready to settle down for the night. I have plenty of friends with Staffords as well and would say that this video is pretty accurate. They're bouncy, kinda rowdy and energetic dogs for sure, they WILL greet you and strangers with full force and a whole lot of face licking, but the love and companionship of a Staffie is unmatched. If about an hour of training/playing and walking a day sounds like it suits your lifestyle I would definitely recommend a Stafford for you, or any, home.
My experience of being a staffie owner is the same as that of the lady in the video, that is they are generally classed as medium energy and one half hour to an hour walk (pref. off lead) is plenty for these wonderful dogs. Equally important is the fun and cuddles times spent with humans, they really need and enjoy this time.
Ours (a rescue staffy (potentially crossed with american bulldog)) loves both. best to give them an hour's walk first to burn off energy but after they can chill out with you for ages.
Exactly!!! Just rescued a 3 yr. old little lady from the Human Society and she is fabulous. Listening to this video has just confirmed everything that I've seen and learned over the past week. She is just great with my 5 year old who has autism...absolutely perfect family dog. It's like she's a little angel in dog form meant just us.
A large problem is how 'Staffie' attacks are reported. I read often about 'Staffordshire Bull Terrier type' dogs. This is the crux of the issue. Staffs were bred with 2 fundamental breed requirements. One, to be aggressive to other dogs and two, to be docile toward humans. The purpose was to be victorious in the dog fighting ring but to be placid to the fight 'referees' in the same fight ring. The problem is when another breed is introduced into the lineage. For instance, if a Staffie is say 75% pure with 25% Jack Russell, then it would very likely look completely like a Staff but the placidity toward people could have been bred out, leaving a very aggressive and very capable fighting unit. In a nutshell, having had Staffies, i'd have no problem recommending a Staff to anyone but a part staff, I would not touch with a barge pole.
I have a rescue part staffie and she is as sweet natured as any dog you could ever meet. You attitude is precisely why rescue centres have a problem finding homes for staffs of any delineation. You don't breed placidity or anything else in or out within a generation. I have suggestion for what you might use your bargepole for, should you be short of ideas.
My attitude? I'm afraid your logic is flawed. My son and daughter display certain traits that can be seen as coming from me. Equally they demonstrate characteristics from their mother. Are you seriously and in public, suggesting this is nonsense as in your logic their characteristics can only come from their great great grand parents? I recognise that all of the above is true but to suggest any animal does not share traits with their direct parents is simply madness. I'm also failing to see that my pro staffie 'attitude' is drawing such a vehement response. I'm glad though, you have managed to work out the type of person I am from one statement. Were your parents, sorry great great great grandparents, mind readers per chance?
I'm not a big fan of 30min walks. But that's bc I actually like going for walks. We take hour and a half to two hour walks. Also we walk at night so it's much more calmer environment
Only thing is disagree with this fine yound lady with, is the exercise thing. Staffys NEED a tonne of exercise/walks/play. Maybe if you have a great big garden and kids and other dogs they wont, but i live in a flat with a staffy and he NEEDS like 4 or 5 walks a day AND a lot of time playing physical games. Which is perfect for me! Best dogs ever. I have a male and he adores every other loving thing, except other male dogs.
Wonderful informative video...At point ...1:32, you state that the staffordshire Bull terriers were originally bred for Bull fighting, ...There is a difference between Bull Fighting, as in "Spain" and Bull Baiting, as in England's history. The Staffordshire Bull terrier was bred specifically for the job of Bull Baiting... In the black country, it was evolved from the "Proto-Stafford" which already was used for Bull Baiting; Bulls were set upon when taken to market and terrified; just like the "Dogs" killed in the city of Yulin in southern China which hosts a dog meat festival, where live dogs and cats are sold specifically for eating and are killed in terrible ways which it is believed tenderizes the meat. This "ignominious" act of Bull baiting to tenderize the meat, was banned in 1835 here in the UK, it was hard to still practice as a large outside area was needed, and so those who liked a gamble on the Bull Baiting turned to Cock fighting and Dog fighting, thus the Staffies we know today were bred for Dog Fighting which could be continued underground. They had all aggression towards humans bred out of them, by killing any dog that showed those traits; as the fighting dogs were kept close as family pets, and needed to be trusted around children. apart from that one thing, everything else was spot on. :)
Reading some of these comments make me laugh. Especially since I’ve studied dogs as a species. I own a Staffy, I’m the boss and he knows it, how I know that is when he does something that he knows is wrong he’ll avoid any confrontation and put his head down and have body language displaying guilt, he thinks I’ll give in. Then I tell him off and put him in his cage. Sometimes he refuses that’s when he gets nasty but the punishment is then he stays there for an hour or so if he goes straight in there, I let him out after 10 or so minutes
I have a beautiful red brindle English Staffy she is my baby. My cat rules over her it is so funny to watch yeah vicious some people say have never owned a Staffy
Honestly I’ve had numerous dogs from chihuahua to Great Danes. My favourite dog I hv still is my staffy bull very protective dog the amount of muscle sometimes he where’s a large breed collar that barely fits I hv anxiety very bad and knows I need him can’t imagine life with out him. I would love to hv another one or 2 we don’t really see many in Canada if you or any one hv any that needs a home is I’m willing to adopt 2 anyone message me please
Sbt's were not bred to fight bulls, that was the job of the bulldog. They were bred to fight other dogs (and rats and badgers), that's why most of them don't like other dogs. It's not 'how you raise them', you cannot deny their heritage. Still they are great dogs if you know what you got yourself into
johan bauwens It is how you raise em what you mean 😂😂 I’ve legit studied dogs as a species going back centuries of their heritage and ancestory. If you don’t tell your dog off they’ll never listen to you when the grow up and get the ‘alpha’ role, you teach it at a very young age I’m the boss obey me they will, if they don’t listen punish them and they’ll learn from it. Don’t even say that 😂
matywyte ps4 yep very true. Dogs don't just need decent walks for their physical health but also to mix with other dogs, smell stuff and generally enjoy themselves.
that is not entirely true, brain work is much more efficient than hour long walks, yes going for a walk is needed for good health but if you overfeed your dogs that won't help either. They have got a big garden to play and to run around so 30 minutes are just fine if you work with them in an other way too. For example I go out for 30 minutes and do obedience training every day and have got a lean, healthy, friendly and obedient dog so where is the problem of just going out for 30 minutes? The dogs in this video can sniff around in the garden and have each other to interact and can enjoy themselves on their own property. Also the distance or time needed for a walk varies from dog to dog ( breed, character, health, energy lvl and so on) and also depends on you walking faster or more slowly
bettybreeze78 . I guess it depends how big your yard is and how much you play with them at home. We have a puppy only 9 weeks old. He loves his walks. But isnt too keen after a big play.. lol yes I do know that will change as he ages.. I suppose 30 mins is better than 0 mins.
jaggirl 2003 my 3 dogs go out about 30 to 40 mins...about 3 or 4 times a day...plus some obedience work and leash work inside and outside..but yes it does depend on how hard you work them and how fast or slow you move while walking ect....but 30mins once a day is just not enough
without doubt an absolutely fantastic breed,,,, i would have a staff over any other dog,,, but you must get to know the dogs character,, if its an alpha and meets another alpha of any breed you can have problems,,, other dogs would attack mine without any reason and it could be very explosive,,, watch the tail,, if its curved forward and erect and has stopped wagging,,, the dog is still and looking at the other dog with its head tilted to one side looking almost out of the corner of its eye and the other dog is doing the same you will have problems,,,, and a staffy fight is very very difficult to stop,,,, and very scary,,,, and they can take almost any amount of pain and go almost psychotic,,,, and then they can click out of it as if nothing had happened,,, if you do have an alpha then you might find it has a low tolerance of other dogs,,, and when meeting other dogs alphas can give off dominance signs that most humans will not recognize but the other dog does,,, and it might react if similar in temperament,,,,, i found i had to protect mine from other dogs,,, staffs german shepards, dobermans and the odd lab all would stand over her and attack the neck,,,, so be cautious if your dog appears to be and alpha,,,
if you have had a staff you would know why,, they are so loving and characterful and they make you laugh and just love being around people,,, but they need to be in good homes,,, i would be more worried to own a collie or an alsation,,, many of which are just nuts staffs can be a problem,,, that problem is man,,, there was never a problem till they started being used as trophy dogs and the aggression bred back in but they are to me my fav dog breed,,,
exactly why there should be dog and breed specific behavior training for any dog owners and mandatory licencing and insurance,,,, muzzels, socializing and home inspections and spaying,,,, staffs and pits etc would benefit from this sort of regulation,,, non compliance means goodbye dog,,,, and breeding should be licenced by law,,, and dogs chipped to say where they have come from and who owns them,,, for too long there has been breeding by people who can barely look after themselves as a way to make money and the amount of bull breeds in rescue centres and dumped is scandalous.......
My Staffordshires past has ruined her. She was used for breeding and we can't let her of her leash like a normal dog because she's terrified of male dogs and she will go for them. The stupid morons that did that to her should rot in hell
The PitBull came from a bulldog and a Terrier and are called American Staffordshire Terrier, dont trust every youtube video theres alot of bad information. In Canada Ontario we refer pitbulls as American Staffordshire Terriers. Stop saying any dog can be a pitbull thats Complete Bullshit.
Taco Salesman The dog people associate with being the American Pitbull is in fact the Irish strain of Bull and Terrier later named the Staffordshire Bull Terrier . The dogs arrived in America with Irish immigrants in the late 1800s and where also imported from Britain by Colby who rebranded the dogs as Pitbull terriers . The dogs you see in this video are Black Country strain . The pedigree standard for Staffordshire was taken from a Black Country dog called Jim the Dandy owned by Joe Dunn . Different regions of Britain had various sized Bull and Terriers from large London Dalston Heavyweights to medium sized Olde Dublin Reds .The Gameness of APBTs comes from the various terriers bred into the Bulldogges to create a better fighting dog .
pit bulls came from Irish Staffords, same did Am.Staffs.Pit Bull comes 200 years after Stafford and Bull terrier. Both breeds are from UK,Pit Bull is solely US breed,Am.Staff too, created once Irish immigrants settled there. There is no SBT in Pit Bull nor in Am.Staff,I don't know why people mention those breeds and connect them to SBT?Pit and Am.Staff are created from Irish Stafford which is different than SBT
Hello, clueless, why don't you search and find out???Irish Stafford is long legged and looks closer to Pit Bull and Am.Staff from which they originated.Irish Stafford was brought into US by Irish migrants, there it was crossed with various bulldogs and terriers to get Pit Bull and Am.Staff.English Staffordshire Bull Terrier was never used to create Pit bull nor Am.Staff.
they are not,get informed,Am.Staff and Pit look different and their temperaments are different too.they might share dogs that went into creating them but they def aren't same breed(literally or any otherwise).they aren't same build, same weight, they don't even look same when just head is concerned.one was fighting dog, other was more used as guard dog, they don't even come from same era,Pit came first than Am.Staff.One is aggressive towards other dogs and people (Pit) while other is called the more controlled and calmer "Pit Bull",which means they aren't same dogs.Pit is banned in a lot of countries while Am.Staff isn't.Pit can't be registered while Am.Staff can in many countries so are they same dogs?NO!Only misinformed or not at all informed person would think they are,so I suggest get informed better, bye.
A politician recommeds they should be put on dangerous dog list maybe they have a handbag dog a staff is a lovin kissy trustin dog socialices with other dogs and people
Douglas Harrison "pitbull" is not a specific breed. Its a generalized term for any breed with the stocky build, block head, etc. So, yes, Staffies are considered "pitbulls". I love my Staffy girl. Shes the greatest dog ever, I'll be a lifelong Staffy mom because of her.
Insurance would just be more expensive. Just like it's more expensive in safer/cleaner areas and THAT is for a good reason. There are plenty of companies to pick from and I'm sure just like you pay a premium for your expensive/used car you would do it for your animal. Well, maybe not you...
Im sorry but thats not accurate!!! Having the measurements does not make a dog a pitbull.!!! Not any breed can be a pitbull in Ontario Canada we refer pitbulls As American Staffordshire Terrier Which come from bulldogs and Terriers. There are pure bred pitbulls.
what she forgets to mention that Staffordshire Bull Terriers were breed for Dogfighting. 1st and foremost. I do wish Breeders would be more honest at times.
they weren't bred for dog fighting first and foremost at all. people used them in dog fighting after a while... but this isnt what they were bred for at all.
Tom CAULK that's because they weren't bred for dog fighting, now a days they are mainly bred for dog fighting but they used to be bred for bull fighting, that's where their names come from Staffordshire bull terrier.
Jodie Bartlett. You are wrong they were bred from dogs used for bullbaiting but staffbulls are to small to use for bullbaiting failing to admit to a dog breeds purpose leads to misunderstanding of the breed
Rem 7 Ido have staff bulls have been showing and breeding for 25 years I do know the breeds true past and don't like total untruth being spread about the breed
I have a lot of books by some of the original breeders that's where I get my opinions the first English kennel club champion was a dog called Gentleman Jim owned by Joe Mallen this dog was fought numerous times I say this just to promote a true understanding of the breeders there are videos on Joe Mallen on youtube
Pretty much everything this woman has just said apart from being clingy is completely wrong ! I have owned staffys all my life and I have learned that every staffy is extremely energetic and if that energy is not met looking of her "half hour of ezcersise per day" lol will make them extremely noisy and they are very protective and destructive . This woman is really ill informed I would say .
If you want to get a staff then be prepared for the overwhelming amount of love and loyalness that you will be bombarded with. Some people may actually find them too clingy but that depends on how you raise them as puppies. But i must admit that it is hard to reject them and be strict when they are pining for your love and attention.
Nate dawg so true. My girl is so attention insane. She will use her snout to flick your hand onto her head and then rub her head back and forth just to get a pet when she thinks youre ignoring her.
I lost my Staffy 3 weeks ago to cancer and I miss her so much. Such a beautiful girl who has always by side.
My Staffordshire is the naughtiest dog I’ve ever owned. He’s ten now I thought he would have calmed down by now. Although he can be a pain he’s a good laugh and we wouldn’t be without him.
we love character!
mine is 10 he is bursting with energy everyone things hes 2 lol
Mines just over 1 years old and he's fine or just cut there balls
Lovely words :)
I just got my 1st Staffy. Just a baby. She's 6 weeks old. Very happy with all you had to say about the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I've been researching the breed way before I decided to get her. And my 6 year old daughter loves her Roxy. That's what we named her.
Mines a bigger baby at 6 years old than ever!! 😂
Most loyal, faithful and utterly amazing dog. My blue girl is my daughters best friend, doesn't leave her side.Like any other breed of dog, it's how you raise them, train them and treat them.
Our son has a 7 month old Staffie, hes beautiful and loves everybody and other dogs
Never had a dog before but I really love to have one. I have 3 children age 8-11 and I've done loads of research on dogs. The staffy seems to be my favourite, so hopefully it will fit in with my family.
Best dogs ever!❤
Very well said assessment, I have a Staffordshire bull terrier. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world
My boy is a little ray of sunshine in my life! He just wants to do everything with me wether I'm up for a mad 2 hour walk or a 10 sleep in when I'm lucky lol. My first dog was a German shepherd, obviously I loved him dearly but I'd truly would be lost without my Staffy, he is very special to me and my family.
I rescued my female staffy she lived on the streets for a year now she has a home and familly and a blue nose to love i really love my stella dog
Indeed very loving pets
Got mine from the animal shelter two years ago, she is great and want to be everwhere i am and please me. Got 4 of them from 88 to 2003 and all died at old age and sickness. Best dog and companion you can have, if you teach and guide them well.
Well done for rescuing!
Me and my Dad & Mum are looking to get one and this was the most helpful video we came across amazing content!
My two staffers are great dog and family members.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback :)
My AmStaff is the best dog I have ever had I’m sure these Staffys are awesome too.
My Staffy is one litle fire cracker, loads of energy and allways fun.
Very accurate appraisal of the Staffy, they are friendly, loyal and make brilliant pets.
friendly if socialized and friendly towards family members.I hate when people assume just because dog is friendly within household it will immediately reflect onto strange people or other strange animals
Gods gift to us all
I'm John's wife. He passed away 10/04/20
My Amstaff is in deep mourning. I didn't know dogs grieved that way. I got her a kitten to try to help. She loves all other animals.
R.I.P sorry for your loss
Everything she said was spot on 👌
Thank you :)
Wow what a great memory.
Awesome review of the dog, and very true 👌
Thank you our boy is 12wk old blue staffie hes fantastic the vlog is excellent
awesome dogs. humans with fur
Great program staffs are greats dogs very friendly and loyal
Great video. I hope more people watch this educational material.
thank you more great videos at www.naturallyhappydogs.com/
Thank you i love my dogs you took the words right out of my mouth!
Great, accurate, lovely video. Thank you.
My Staffy knew a family member died and my kids were very upset the dog never left there side for weeks he could tell there emotions very very loyal dog
Best Bully video I have seen! Thank you!
I really want to adopt one! I have met several and they are so nice
lke the bit about toys you are right there mine has a football for about 5 mins max she just loves getting the bladder out for some reason ,the only toys that last are nylon bones or very solid hard rubber toys ,just bought one that is guanteed to last 5 years ha ha we will see she has never chewed any thing else ,we got her from rspca rescue love her to bits so affectionate and like you say wants to go every where you go and eat every thing you have .
Ha ha. I've had a bruise or too from mine. Especially on the back of the legs.
Omg same story but he gave me a black eye. Dopey sod jumped up as i was pulling away. I miss that soppy git
Lol my pitbull terrier did the same, and my head hurted literally for week
Omg same he always makes my nose bleed when I bend down near his head he chined my nose
I know something staffys can't do - sleep in their own damn beds!! Hence me being awake at 5am watching this!! Haha 😀
I like Staffs very much and managed to walk a puppy in the Bagshot area, even though the breed has lock jaw there is no need to fear them.
Neil Heron staffies don't have lock jaw. The only dog that has a lock jaw is the bull terrier and not because they are bad dogs but due to the shape of there head.
No dog has the ability to lock their jaw, it is all down to how much muscle they have to grip on with.
That's a myth. They don't have lockjaw.
I love Staffordshire Bull terrier
Best dogs ever
I have one she is a year old brilliant dog don't leave my side sleeps with my son at night sleep in font of my brothers baby wen he comes round would not change her she is my best friend
Great video thanks 👍👍
My American staffy has been the easiest to train most loyal dog I've ever owed.
Please be more respectful and less biased.
Maynard Runkle . Muppet !
I bet a Maynard Tinkle ain't even owned a dog and loves cats! You mate are a Muppet!
Loved this video
But I would say that Staffs need a lot of exercise
Marvin and me would walk 20 miles in a day, in the Lakes, or Wales; but I know he was not happy when I have to go to work, and Marvin has to stay at home
Where’s pls somone tell me where can I get a Irish staffy in America
Mine catches flys!! Bees too crazy funny dog!
Denise Girmer ahahah mine to. He is always entertained by that and never gets bored
mine used to chew spiders,,,,
Helpful bug catcher :)
Never heard of coyote rollers - thank you.
Thank you for the reply! Took it into consideration, and we've now bought a staff :) can't wait to get him
Thank you! We bought a staff! Can't wait to get him. I'll be sure to keep him company:)
Ours (a rescue staffy (potentially crossed with american bulldog)) loves both. best to give them an hour's walk first to burn off energy but after they can chill out with you for ages.
Buy one? There are plenty of Staffordshire Terriers in kill shelters
Maybe in the U.K. but in the states these dogs $1,500 and their very hard to find, our shelters are over flowing with Pit Bulls!
richard blackcloud This video is made in Britain, dude, not America.
Ken Landon you're so right, your piles of Staffordshire's in American Staffordshire's in kennels that need homes
Let's all go home please tell the world of your experience with this great dog
Mind's only 6% Staffordshire. He's looks more Staffordshire, though he is mostly lab. He does have a Labrador tail, and loves the water.
Best loyal breed 😎
Please keep your comments civil and backup your statements with proof :)
paul..... the best comment ive seen... and exactly what i always say!
I'm not a big fan of 30min walks. But that's bc I actually like going for walks. We take hour and a half to two hour walks. Also we walk at night so it's much more calmer environment
Only fault I can find with a Staffie - don't get them an ordinary football - they'll pierce it in seconds!
🐕❤️🐕❤️🐕❤️🐕❤️🐕❤️
Only thing is disagree with this fine yound lady with, is the exercise thing. Staffys NEED a tonne of exercise/walks/play. Maybe if you have a great big garden and kids and other dogs they wont, but i live in a flat with a staffy and he NEEDS like 4 or 5 walks a day AND a lot of time playing physical games. Which is perfect for me! Best dogs ever. I have a male and he adores every other loving thing, except other male dogs.
Such a pity they get a bad reputation in the wrong hands of ownership. Brought up in a family environment they are a very gentle loving loyal dog 👌
Very true!
it's the best dog
Staffies were bred for dogfighting, crossing the old bulldog and extinct terrier strains to get them.
Staffies are the best dogs in the world. End of.
Prey drive is bred out obviously
Don’t even say that 😂
Falsch.
Hunde riechen Angst nicht, das ist widerlegt.
A great dog' a great pet' a very bad gaurd dog'.
To add it the owners not the dog who makes them aggressive
♥️♥️♥️♥️👍
30 minutes walk a day 😡😡. That's not enough!
bettybreeze78 right her dog is fat af too
matywyte ps4 yep very true.
But isnt too keen after a big play.. lol
yes I do know that will change as he ages..
This isn't a Staffordshire Bull Terrier
without doubt an absolutely fantastic breed,,,, i would have a staff over any other dog,,, but you must get to know the dogs character,, if its an alpha and meets another alpha of any breed you can have problems,,, other dogs would attack mine without any reason and it could be very explosive,,, watch the tail,, if its curved forward and erect and has stopped wagging,,, the dog is still and looking at the other dog with its head tilted to one side looking almost out of the corner of its eye and the other dog is doing the same you will have problems,,,, and a staffy fight is very very difficult to stop,,,, and very scary,,,, and they can take almost any amount of pain and go almost psychotic,,,, and then they can click out of it as if nothing had happened,,,
if you do have an alpha then you might find it has a low tolerance of other dogs,,, and when meeting other dogs alphas can give off dominance signs that most humans will not recognize but the other dog does,,, and it might react if similar in temperament,,,,, i found i had to protect mine from other dogs,,, staffs german shepards, dobermans and the odd lab
all would stand over her and attack the neck,,,, so be cautious if your dog appears to be and alpha,,,
if you have had a staff you would know why,, they are so loving and characterful and they make you laugh and just love being around people,,, but they need to be in good homes,,, i would be more worried to own a collie or an alsation,,, many of which are just nuts
staffs can be a problem,,, that problem is man,,, there was never a problem till they started being used as trophy dogs and the aggression bred back in
but they are to me my fav dog breed,,,
exactly why there should be dog and breed specific behavior training for any dog owners and mandatory licencing and insurance,,,,
muzzels, socializing and home inspections and spaying,,,, staffs and pits etc would benefit from this sort of regulation,,, non compliance means goodbye dog,,,,
and breeding should be licenced by law,,, and dogs chipped to say where they have come from and who owns them,,, for too long there has been breeding by people who can barely look after themselves as a way to make money
and the amount of bull breeds in rescue centres and dumped is scandalous.......
Maynard Runkle no other dog offers the benefits of owning a staff most people who have had one would never have any other breed I certainly wouldn't
My Staffordshires past has ruined her. She was used for breeding and we can't let her of her leash like a normal dog because she's terrified of male dogs and she will go for them. The stupid morons that did that to her should rot in hell
Thank you for rescuing her, she is lucky to have such an understanding owner.
Bet she don't walk them!😆 Mine got 5 miles every day
The PitBull came from a bulldog and a Terrier and are called American Staffordshire Terrier, dont trust every youtube video theres alot of bad information. In Canada Ontario we refer pitbulls as American Staffordshire Terriers. Stop saying any dog can be a pitbull thats Complete Bullshit.
R staffies family to Pitt bull
a pitbull is a dog that adheres to specific measurements but is generally a bull breed.
part of the pitbull family
Pits were bred from lab crosses. So whats your point.
Derek Cranston an American Pit bull terrier is a breed of dog, look it up.
Different regions of Britain had various sized Bull and Terriers from large London Dalston Heavyweights to medium sized Olde Dublin Reds .The Gameness of APBTs comes from the various terriers bred into the Bulldogges to create a better fighting dog .
one of your dogs is grossly overweight. very unhealthy
Shawna you are wrong..These other breeds came from pitbulls but are no longer.
pit bulls came from Irish Staffords, same did Am.Staffs.Pit Bull comes 200 years after Stafford and Bull terrier.
There's no such thing as an 'Irish Stafford'.
BoxyTheSpaceDog Pit bulls and Amstaffs are literally the same breed of dog.
they are not,get informed,Am.Staff and Pit look different and their temperaments are different too.they might share dogs that went into creating them but they def aren't same breed(literally or any otherwise).they aren't same build, same weight, they don't even look same when just head is concerned.one was fighting dog, other was more used as guard dog, they don't even come from same era,Pit came first than Am.Staff.One is aggressive towards other dogs and people (Pit) while other is called the more controlled and calmer "Pit Bull",which means they aren't same dogs.Pit is banned in a lot of countries while Am.Staff isn't.Pit can't be registered while Am.Staff can in many countries so are they same dogs?NO!Only misinformed or not at all informed person would think they are,so I suggest get informed better, bye.
Follow my Ig @TopTriBullyzUK
A politician recommeds they should be put on dangerous dog list maybe they have a handbag dog a staff is a lovin kissy trustin dog socialices with other dogs and people
Staffies while wonderful dogs , are not pitbulls.
A staff is a pit bull it’s identical just smaller.
A dog is deemed a pit bull if it adheres to specific measurements regardless of the breed.
Karl Convey well clearly you have not done your research correctly.
they weren't bred for dog fighting first and foremost at all. people used them in dog fighting after a while... but this isnt what they were bred for at all.
Staffies are ugly! I like the AmStaff better!
they aren't for everyone but they have great character!
they don't look hugely different. so not sure how you can find one ugly and like the other
,why do people not want to admit what these dogs were bref for? Dogfighting!!
Tom CAULK if you dont want to have one in your home thats your choice.... no need to get upset if we do
Rem 7 Ido have staff bulls have been showing and breeding for 25 years I do know the breeds true past and don't like total untruth being spread about the breed
