RG Law should definitely be on there. The deck is insane. Both its worst matchups were both hit on the banlist making it even better. It just has a very high skill ceiling.
Reiju is gonna fill that aggro void in the meta that RP Law left. It might have been Zooro, but he gets dumpstered by Reiju and Black.

zoro smokes reiju 70% of the time unless black maria makes that big of a difference but the board flood is too fast
Doffy is going to be the best of the decks with the 6 starter deck support imo. Probably not best deck in format but a great contender. I'd put zoro in likely good.
Chopper is really strong against anything not black. Spamming the board with a bunch of creatures is hard to deal with. At least with Domfli, they can only get out 2 creatures at a time.
I'd put PLuffy in Likely Good even before the new ST. Still think he has a place in the meta and can match up decently against other decks.
I think that's fair/I may of been a little generalizing with the ST Leaders. They all just feel nerfed until the ST decks come out though.
Solid list. I'm probably biased as a Katakuri main, but the 2k Brulee is the only thing in that Kata starter deck that will get guaranteed play. Some people might like the new blocker but it will be tough to make room for. I'd say to start 08 it's already good enough to be "likely good."
And I think that's fair for Katakuri and most of the ST Leaders, just feels like they're nerfed until the starter decks come out though.
@@TheEgman I agree with that and think you did a nice job in the video portraying it. All of those decks are only enhanced by the starter decks.

@@ethanslygh9879 Funny you say that. In the Katakuri discord I'm in everyone hates it and says it's too slow. But I was looking at the starter deck today and actually think it can be a great mid game play.
My only concern is you have to cut a 7C Big Mom or 2 bc in 08 Kata you want as many triggers as possible for 5C Nami.
I think uta is pretty decent with the new starter deck, also i feel like reiju is just hyped too much. Katakuri actually seems more menacing/ more play without law.
Good list! I think Kalgara may come out and surprise some people. It goes so wide so fast. I think that going wide in this meta is going to be much stronger than going tall.

I think zoro will be near the top of likely good, possibly bottom of good by default. It’s kinda matchup dependent but with the right build/draws even lucci has been only slightly unfavoured so far. Need to test more though!
Zoro wasn't on my radar until recently so I don't have a FANTASTIC grasp on the deck compared to the rest. I think he has a chance though.
The experimental tier I play a bunch of them and I can for sure say that they're being gatekept but the new Red cards soon will probably bring a lot of them up tiers. Vegapunk is still just a worse Enel and is far too balanced even though its effects are good other than it not being allowed to attack. The deck just dies late game and the big Yellow characters have more synergy with Enel than any other Yellow deck. It just needs something unbalanced like their own boss character.

Came here to say this lol. It will depend on how prominent Pudding is. Unfortunately, Minks getting blown up by BMPs is lore accurate. But it's crazy good into a lot of decks in the top two tiers.
St 14 luffy is extremely underrated, 5 cost sanji is amazingly good, and the deck plays kind of like lucci, but also good against lucci

Think experimental and unlikely need to switch places. It’s a tier list top to bottom best to worst and nothing in unlikely is better than anything in the experimental section
I placed second in treasure cup with zero animal build so it should be in likely good
Purple kaido should go in unlikely. I've played a bunch of games on the sim with it and got way more losses than wins. It's only really good against nami. It loses hard to aggro which is a bunch of the format like zoro, doffy, kalgara, reiju, and maybe by luffy.
Belo Betty is wild for unlikely but hey just means I’ll have to show it off and make a video of how well the rush is this meta

I dont like carrot too much as a character, but her effects seem reaaally annoying and powerful to deal with. I think she will be a really good deck

They aren't immediately on my radar as "any better in OP08 compared to OP07". But I think the format can definitely rewards revisiting older leaders so there is a chance!

Hey, now that RP Law is gone we need to find the next deck that breaks Black Maria and Foxy can definitely be it.
Does Reiju decklist change at all in op-08? Any suggestions for new tech cards. Also for someone who wants to build a new leader, what's your recommendation?
I haven't tested the deck in OP08 at all, but I think Black Maria can be a fantastic add to the deck.
@@henrythepoet Honestly, not really. Black Maria is a decent add, but I find her to not be very necessary in most matches. That said, at worst she's a 2k and at best she can help you catch up if your Don deficit becomes significant. Plus, she's playable off of Porche, so that's neat

@@henrythepoet I play 4 Gina and only 2 BM. The full sets of Gina and Chopper are mandatory imo if you're running Porche. They're the only Foxy targets with value and you want Porche to hit on search (11 targets including Porche). BM is rarely needed, in my limited experience.

Pudding not so high for me
I can admit I MIGHT be coping with the deck. However, turbo-ing into 10 mom has been pretty dumb with early testing.
@@TheEgmanso far I love playing pudding. There can be problems but I’ve been tweaking the deck and I think I’m in a really good place with it. I think I’m still taking Bonney to anything big though. We’ll see.

I don't agree with pudding. I just don't see what she does that kata didn't do already but better. I think its not worth giving away all the good triggers, amazing leader ability, and the 5th life that katakuri has, just to play linlin 1 turn earlier. Kata already struggles a little bit vs aggro, pudding probably gets run over everytime.
I’m agree I might be overestimating pudding but I also think she got a lot better with rp law gone.

Pudding and kata had about an equal number of tops in Japan 08 format and that was WITH RP Law keeping pudding down. I'm not saying she is tier 1 but is definitely better than you're thinking
So what you say is right on paper but not in the context of this meta.
It’s not only about the T4 Mom but about the T3 big body as well. T3 Pudding can play a 6C/7C 7K-8K body which is too much for many decks to keep up. It’s so hard for Lucci to start removing 6C-7C bodies when he only has 5 Don. Then you go to 10Don and things start getting out of hand.
Also pudding has access to purple and 9Mom which is an insane card that single handlely fixes the BY matchup which is horrible for kata. Playing a 7K body T3 and a 12K body T4 is deadly for BY. By the time he gets to 10Don Pudding can have a 6C kata and 2 10Moms which is brutal for BY. 9Mom also messes up their Moria plays at 10 Don.
Also playing big body T3 and 10Mom T4 makes the Nami matchup SO favorable
Lastly due to 9Mom and all of the removal she provides the Bonney matchup and reiju matchup are fair unless reiju high rolls. By the time Bonney plays Zoro you have 3 big bodies and at least 4-5 life while removing stuff like Urouge or Cavendish. Bonney will usually just hit you for 5-6K each turn as it wants to establish board. You can stay healthy and you run so many healing cards.
Also everything that reiju plays is small if they don’t high roll with many of the red guy early you can usually control this game with 8Kata, 9Mom and 10Ace. Having a 7K body T3 is also insane as you can clear very easily very proscje and small reiju and you have 9Mom for removal. You don’t care if you give them life as long as you create a situation where you can play 1-2 10Moms later in and you instantly win.
Also Pudding does very good into Black Luffy as she plays again big bodies very fast that they can’t remove.
At least for the early games of the meta pudding seems a great meta pick. Sure you lose to Zoro and Kalgara but if you check Eggman’s T1 list pudding has a much better matchup spread into those compared to Kata.

Every time I've matched up against Kata with Pudding, Pudding gains access to things much earlier than kata and kata can't deal with large bodies too well. By the time kata can drop his first big mom, he's already too behind and you can go for game if you played right. Also you can play linlin 2 turns earlier.
@@mariosplaysszz6261 Thanks for the writeup, I want to start by saying I only tested her a little bit, so I might be totally in the wrong, this is the feeling I got from my games.
Now to answer you: I don't doubt that she is very strong from T4 onward, my concern is the first 3 turns. Decks like Moria/kalgara/doffy/reiju will absolutely go aggro on life. And by the time you drop purple9mon you'll be very low already, and they get to threaten leathal every turn. Even if you manage to remove 1 of their characthers, they have 2 or 3 more. The 6c 7K you play on 6Don, is a big body yes, but it doesnt interact with the board when it's played. Unlike Kata, you don't have onami trigger/ gedatsu/ triggers that play boddies to contest their board until you get to 10linlin. You're basically applying 0 preassure the first 3 turns, and I fear that's too greedy for a 4life leader.
Your point that she has a good matchup vs the most common leaders Lucci/enel/bonney/BYluffy is fair, those are indeed the most played ones, and they are control heavy decks and not aggro at all, so you should be generally safe when you're most vulnerable (first few turns).

For reiju, I'm surprised you said reiju is "fair" unless she highrolls, to be fair I can't imagine it being playable at all, unless she low rolls. if she gets porche + anybody on 3Don its a gg, let alone it being the red guy.
Seeing so many people disagree with me, I'll admit I'm probably the one underestimating her, I still think tier1 is a bit of a stretch. We'll see in the next few weeks.

Making a tier list on a meta you have admittedly not tested at all is kinda wild, I'm not gonna lie
I was pretty upfront these are my expectations/opinions going into the format and I understand this can be inaccurate.
I have tested this format as much as I can but this is a day 1 format so no one knows 100% what this format looks like. But I had a lot of people as my opinion going into the format AND I’ll be updating this when we have tournaments/results.
That’s wild? 😂 meta projections or “rankings” are something that casters or enthusiasts of the hobby have done forever. It’s a thing that’s happened in every sport ever before a season starts… plus if you’ve played the game it’s not hard to make loose projections where things might be. Not really wild at all.
He literally prefaces the video a minute in saying this is a volatile list, it's more an opinion, and he could be immediately wrong, but sure I guess when you skip to the end after watching for 7 seconds it's pretty easy to miss that. Kinda wild not gonna lie.
@@JayJay92 But this is a scenario where he very easily could have put in like, at least 3 days or so into the format since it's been in the Sim and have something at least a little more informed is all. It's whatever at the end of the day, one of those content vids
