Ok, I can see I am not the only one that tries to "build" a gate with sods on the back of the trailer! Lol! One trick is to gently pack it, as you build it, with the bucket of the excavator. For that type of work, you would definitely love having a ditch bucket. Much wider, smooth edge, a little bit less deep, so dirt does not stick much in the bottom. More volume, easier to clean up piles of dirt. One thing is noticeable, the first load of the day is reasonnably reaching the wooden sides.... when you get to the last load, it's overflowing the wooden sides! Thanks Glen!
A ditching bucket would definitely be a nice addition. Maybe some day. I learned that the tailgate is not a good option the very hard way. Thanks for the comments!
