I got the 55 about 4 months ago. Super comfy to wear all day everyday. It has all the features I need and great battery life. I was looking at more expensive models, but am glad this is the one I chose. No problems to report so far.
@@RyanClaytonFilms Is there a touch screen watch for running that is light? I had the Fenix 6 retuned it due to weight and it always moved around with different straps. Any suggestions?
@@jcap8391 same i had fenix 6 i dont see the hype with it way too heavy and very cold in winter on the wrist!! I returned mine never again!! I have 245 and love it dont even know its on my wrist and battery lasts 7 days easy with activities, was hoping for a upgraded watch to the 245 to be released but nothing so far
@@Emtbwebb I was looking towards the Garmin venue 2s, Polar ignite 2, Or the Coros pace 2. They are all watches under 40g and two have a touch screen. I'm looking into different ecosystems. I'm just a runner and Garmin offers information overload I don't need. People bash polar watches alot but their app seems pretty simple to navigate. I also like Coros because they are probably one of few companies still bringing updates to future proof their watches. Shows they care about keeping their customers.
Double the battery life of the 45! Such a good option. Works fine for swimming and cycling. It doesn't connect to all of the cycling toys but it's fine for the basics. Your video reviews are so damn good. Keep it up buddy!
Yeah it is unfortunate, but it's really not a big deal since it all looks the same on Strava or Training Peaks anyway. The only difference is if you analyze in Garmin Connect and like to separate your runs by type there. Thanks for the support, exited about the 245 video!
After 3.5 years, my Polar Vantage V battery suddenly drained. It pushed me to decide to either renew a battery or buy a watch. After seeing the price and function of F55, I decided to return to Garmin running society. I was surprised by the functions of F55 but disappointed for Polar V. If the battery of F55 could survive for 4 years and be renewable, that would be great. It the rechargeable battery cannot run more than 4 years, I thought it was not an environment friendly product.
I just got this, my first proper running watch. VERY disappointed in the pace reading. It's all over the place! One moment I'm running at 8:55 pace, the next, 9:50, the next, 11:20 and so on. I'm used to using the Runkeeper app on my phone which has an *average pace* option which is consistent. This phone doesn't seem to have that, it only seems to have *current pace* . Can anybody help with a suggestion about this please? It's really frustrating, thanks. BTW, nice review, liked and subbed .
Great review, thanks. I bought a Forerunner 55 about a week ago to replace my old Polar M400........and I am seriously impressed by it for an entry level watch. I'm no stranger to Garmin products, having owned three of their cycling computers. My experiences with them gave me great confidence that I wouldn't be disappointed with the 55.....and I was right. Learned a couple of tips from your video, so will be applying those in the future. Thanks again.
I'm torn between this and the 245, I'm new to running and I'd use it mainly for running, hiking and going to the gym. Also fitness tracking. Which one would you recommend? The 55 is about £60 cheaper.
If you’re new to running, don’t need music and are mildly price conscious, I would lean towards the 55. As an entry watch, it packs quite a bit - esp if your compare to entry watches of yesteryear. You might also find the 245 on sale, but I get back to the idea of being a new runner, at which point the 55 will be just right.

Nice one Ryan! The 55 is one of my favorites for beginners on a budget!
Thanks Dave! 🙌
I just got my forerunner 55 last Monday and im happy with it. I use it as a smart watch and step tracker.
Does the GPS work well if you're running in the woods?

Dude, thank you so much, means a lot!!!
Unfortunate they left out trail running. Will be looking forward to the Garmin 245 review. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

55 has no altitude sensors used by the trail app so a trail app would be no different than a running app
Are you able to see exactly where you've ran after a race/run on either the watch or app?
I couldn't be happier with this watch...nice review

I’m looking for my first gps running on a budget. Should I get the original instinct over this watch at the same price?
Just ordered one up for my wife’s first running watch 👍🏻

Can we record the data in Garmin Forerunner 55 without carrying a smartphone?
Did you find this out?
Yes data is recorded without a phone
Hi, thanks for the report. Can you tell me if the Garmin 55 (GPS) is effective in a trail with trees on the both side?

Can you see your VO2max with this?
Hey Ryan, looks great I see some deals on it. How would you say it compares to other mid range Garmins say the Vivoactive 4?
The vivoactive is much more smart watch oriented with a nicer screen, but you'll get a little longer battery in the 55.
What version of the watch do they have but without GPS? Cause I don't need it, I don't think I need it
Hi! which watch do you prefer between the garmin forerunner 55 and the garmin Venu Sq to start with?
Hello sir,I have Samsung galaxy watch 3 but now planning to buy Garmin 55 for Garmin coach and pacepro.Should I ?
Love from India
The garmin will be a much better running watch. Enjoy!

Yes you can!👍

Will this work as a health tracker and for rucking?
Yeah it has most of the common health trackers and will be able to track rucking, might just select the running activity when you start.
I’m sold!
You’re gonna like it!
Since they are the same price now on sale should I get the 245 or 55?
Go for the 245, check my link to see if it's still on sale! Thanks! geni.us/nDsemae
