It's not only psychological, it's also neurobiological. We get most of our positive emotion from goal pursuit, not from goal achievement or rest. But, constant pressure can be quite debilitating, especially in the long-term. So, even from the standpoint of "never enough", it's actually desirable to rest and get inspired, because it makes the work better and more colorful, doesn't it?

As they say, no rest for the weary. From now until the New Year celebration, much of my time will be busy, hardly any time to do my daily journal.

Remember what Byung-chul Han said about the Achievement Society in his essay “The Burnout Society”, where people are told that they are never good enough if they aren’t exploiting themselves to the fullest extent. The Achievement Society produces losers and depressives, as people are conditioned to be their own worst enemy.
When your number is up and you depart this life, people will remember you not for what you did, but how you made them feel.

Just sitting down and trying to stop your thoughts is not a good technique and certainly cannot be called 'meditating'. To 'stop' the mind, much more is needed and certainly more other techniques.
    Beautiful Pilot Urishi pen!

I think it's a pretty good technique, if what is meant by "stopping your thoughts" is "not pronouncing them in your head", helps with concentration, multi-tasking and reaction speed, but it's rather a preparatory step to meditation, not a meditation in itself, I agree.

you've expereinced so-called socio-cultural programming that all men go through since they're young. Read a book "Manipulated man" by Ethter Villair. you'll get broader picture and clear explanation why you felt that way.
