Kosovo is not an independent country, it's part of Serbia. Majority of counties of the world and over 2/3 of world's population don't recognize it as country (Russia, China, India, 5 EU states and 100+ other countries worldwide). They have no seat in UN either. Even the name is "Kosovo" is Serbian (meaning "Of Blackbird").
However, Kosovo is a beautiful Serbian province and I hope you will find similar hospitality in Serbian areas, as in central Serbian regions and Republika Srpska.
Currently, Kosovo is US occupied territory of Serbia, corrupted by Albanian narco-mafia, so beware going out of civilization.

Kosovo proclaimed itself independant even though there is more nations that didn't recognize it as such than the ones that did.
It serves as U.S. biggest military base in south-east Europe but to us Serbians it's a holy land which we will never recognize as independant.
I know you're not a history teacher, but still it would be nice that if you decide to talk about it maybe some research wouldn't be bad at all.
    Safe travels French

Well, I did explain briefly the Kosovo situation in my previous video, and I perfectly know that it is a very sensitive case for Serbian people as it is a big part of Serbian holy land, but I can't explain the Kosovo situation in every video where I mention Kosovo.
      And anyway, thank you!

Kosovo is always Serbia! This was a region and I don't understand why the northern part had to fall under Kosovo borders when Kosovo in history was always referring to the PLAINS of KOSOVO and I blame Tito for creating this mess.

4:32 I think the German-Slav thing was going on even before pre-history lol, maybe even between the ancient Germanics with the Celts. So many things we will never know exactly what happened. Serbia was a crossroad of ancient people's routes into Europe but not much is known during that period, just bits and pieces.

There was no destruction of monasteries by the Communists. Major conservatory works were executed in that time.

    Kosovo is Serbia. Remember that.
But , you are right about invaders and german sentiment towards Slavs, and to conclude , so called “INDIPENDENT Kosovo” is so called “indipendant” because of the same sentiment towards Slavs today. Particularly Serbs .

Your info is again wrong and partial, even the most radical communist in SSSR didn't go around and burn old churches... Otherwise, you would not have not a one church in Moscow and Sankt Peterburg :))))
Even Ottomans, they indeed did a lot of destroying in retaliation for Serbian uprisings during several centuries of Ottoman occupation, including burning remains of Saint Sava, which is their greatest sin against Serbs, but also sultans protected Serbian sacral objects, and Serbian church as institution, by various laws, so we could say we have to thank to Ottomans for a lot of medieval monasteries kept, because they were in position to destroy everything in a year, but they didn't during 3 and a half centuries of their absolute rule (they destroyed just a half :), they even made an effort to protect certain objects.
After end of Ottoman rule, while Serbia was liberating more and more of Serbian people and territories, reconstruction, conservation and preservation of old medieval monasteries begins. But it was under the patronage of Serbian church, and it was financed from peoples donations. It didn't work out very well always...
Then, various western invaders during World wars I and II destroyed and damaged lot of sacral objects, but mostly in heavy bombarding, not with an intention, and that did also the Allies on the end of World war II, trying to get final blow to Germans, again, with heavy bombarding, especially Belgrade and big cities. Actually, the most damage to Serbian sacral objects during II world war was done by Croation ustashas, because they had a plan to erase any trace of anything Serbian on territory of NDH.
But after the end of II world war, when communist came to power, very opposite to what you are learned in school, begins real professional care for antique and medieval objects (many of them is on UNESCO list , protected as a world heritage), including old sacral objects. Restorations is from that point financed from government budget, and work was, in cooperation with Serbian church, done by university degree artist and experts. Yea, communist did burn several village churches or confiscated Church's property for objects of public importance, they did drown several churches building hydroelectric plants, but they very quickly understood the importance of cultural heritage... And systems was changing, but that stayed the same today - important sacral objects are in the possession of religion institution (it is the same for catholic and muslim's objects, so it is universal principal), but preservation and maintenance of cultural important objects is financed or cofinanced and done with government help and expert supervision.
Of course, there is never enough money for everything, nor there is enough experts for everything, but that is communists gift to religion communities (although some may say it is repay for guilty conscious...) - system of secure preservation of objects important for heritage.
    P. S. And you should check UN list of independent countries, Kosovo is not independent country, it is a territory under the international supervision

I don't think that my statement is partial, I just repeated what a PROFESSIONAL SERBIAN tour guide said to a half German and half SERB guy who was on a pilgrimage in Sopocani.
And about communists destroying religious buildings...
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians_in_the_Soviet_Union
And of course, the communists did not destroy all the churches and monasteries, I NEVER SAID THAT, but they did destroy SOME religious buildings, and they did damage SOME other religious buildings...

@@KinoYves Of course they did :) But do you see what are you doing? You are taking the shameless western propaganda about SSSR (yes, that is all facts, but facts torn out of historical context and transmuted in propaganda) and projected it on Serbia, ex Yugoslavia, that wasn't part of the SSSR at all, nevertheless, Yugoslavia was in dispute with Eastern Block.
Be very careful in future when you throwing out serious accusations such "another murderer", and "those who burned churches" based only on some man's words or Wikipedia articles, or you will have serious consequences. This is more or less journalistic advice, but although you are not journalist, being making public videos, you better start to fallow it. And very serious consequence in Balkans is that you will, for such mistake, get a very long historical lecture every time, or rather multiple long historical lectures :)))))
So, now I will show you how consequence look likes :) Just remember that you ask for that yourself :)
      BRIEF HISTORY OF MONASTERY SOPOĆANI
Monastery was built during the rule of king Stefan Uroš I Nemanjić in the second half of XIII century, and it was named after springs (our old word "sopot"). From starts it was fameous by frescos that did Byzantine painters (still unknown). After final fall of various Serbian states in 1459, when there was no more Serbian forces to protect anyone in that region, monastery continued to live under Ottoman occupation. There is historical documents that shows that in 1595. and 1614. (2 centuries under Ottomans), in the monastery is still writing books (yea, that was before printing presses). One of the rare kept works from that period is Sopoćanski Pojamnik, that, unfortunatelly, exist in only 1 copy in Sankt Peterburg Museum, in Russia - because Serbian National Library was distroyed during German bombardin 1941, together with most books and illumination from XII-XVII century...
Nevertheless, monastery is still living and working 1625, when there is documents showing that Sopoćani rebuilt their fontain.
So, first incorrectness towards Ottoman Turks is that all that time under Ottoman rule monastery was living, protected by sultan's laws, having his estate, keeping Serbian culture live, in bounderies of Pećka Patriarchia, the Serbian church under Ottomans.
Most probably, it was abounded during the First Big Exodus of Serbs in 1690. What happened? In the Wars of the Holy League 1683-1699. Serbs took their chance and uprise against Ottomans, joining forces with Holly League. But that wasn't Serbian army or any military or paramilitary gruops, because such groups wasn't allowed over two centuries... it was plain people. When armies of Holly League started to withdraw, Serbian people withdraw with them taking their families and all their possessions, fearing of Ottoman retaliation, and with people went also the monks from Sopoćani, living monastery empty.
But there is interesting reason why Holly League army had to withdraw. They actually was winning against Turks, but Louise XIV attacked Habsburg Monarchy (Austro-Hungarian empire) 1688, and eventually, Holly League had to withdraw back across Danube to defend itself from France army, leaving Balkan and Serbs to mercy of ottomans. So, the main culprits why Sopoćani was abandoned and why Serbs had to wait whole more century for freedom is your ancestors :))))
Nevertheless, after Secon Big Exodus of Serbs 1739, there is report that monastery is in ruins and that Turks took lead from roof, so water is destroying paintings. But to be honest to Turks, they didn't ruin it, monks already left and took everything of value (so They didn't have anything to robe even), and they took lead for their artillery, and empty house with bad roof with no one to take care of it is doomed to decay with time...
Serbians finnally won their independence in the beggining of XIX century, but it was gradual liberation of Serbian lands. Stara Raška was liberated among last, in 1912, during The First Balkan War. And first renovation of Sopoćani begin in 1926, but it was mostly architecture and building the roof back. It was considered a miracle that fresco painting survived 2 centuries without a roof...
But the biggest ruining of paintings happened during II WW. It is for sure Germans used monastery as stables for horses, but the damage on paintings, that is concentrate on heads and eyes, actually is from bullets, and it is done by members of Skenderbeg division, domestic muslim people (mostly islamized Serbs, but they were proclaiming to be Turks then, and Turks were with Axis), that were colaborating with Germans against Serbian and Albanian partisans (communist)... Why heads and eyes? People guess they, in the end, couldn't stand the look of the holly ancestors and what they become...
So, after the war nuns returned to monastery until 1996, when instead of them came brotherhood of monks. During XX century, reconstruction was focused on building construction, there was big earthquake in XVII century that damaged foundation and main construction, and exactly now in 2021, begins restouration of paintings, and that will be long endevoure...
So, conclusion: who demolished Sopoćani? Mostly time and weather, Turks for sure for taking the lead fro mroof, which result in that that church doesn't ahve a roof for 2 centuries, and some lost local souls during WW II... But initial guilt lays on France :))))) Attacking Holly League during their war with Ottomans, Louise XIV started the chain of events that led to desolation of old Serbian Lands (that is why there is so little Serbs today in Northern Albania, Kosovo and Northern Macedonia, in that so called Heart of Old Serbia, they all left with Austrohungarian armies in that period, and who didn't left, was the target for Ottoman retaliation), and to abandoning the Sopoćani. So, in this case, that wasn't the communist...
