    I disagree with Karun about the 'subjectivity' of double waved yellows. Making the penalities for speeding under double waved yellows 'subjective' means that infinrgements are up to interpretation. This is the EXACT issue EVERYONE, including Sky Sports pundits like Karun himself, have had with the penalty system the last few years. This rule needs to be black and white. Despite how harsh it was on Lando, he didn't slow down and therefore it's a 10 second s/g. End of story.

    • @the_fleeing_dutchman
      @the_fleeing_dutchman 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      Fully agree. Black and white rules, no ifs and buds, because then everything is subjective and up for discussion, and it will take hours for the FIA to provide their ruling. The penalty was very harsh, but if that is the rule, then change the rule or make some gradient that includes the level of danger i.e. marshalls/vehicle on track, stranded driver, etc. etc.

    • @EliYis
      @EliYis 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      It's also a huge safety issue because if the double-waved yellows and penalties are "subjective" and ultimately lessened, what's to stop drivers from making a calculated decision to ignore a yellow flag if they think they can deal with the penalty?
      The entire point of the harshness of the 10-sec s/g is to prevent ignoring safety rules like that. Lessening the severity of the punishment or allowing some cases where it's not as big of a deal just creates openings for abuse at the expense of safety.

    I'm sorry but the take on the double yellow is completely wrong. Norris should have lifted, as it is a safety and not a sporting infringement. Stop defending British drivers.
    The reason it is punished so much is because ignoring ayellow flags in F3 and F2 is a big problem, and F1 creating a precedent that it is okay to ignore yellow flags is dangerous to say the least. Max too, has been penalized heavily for ignoring yellow flags in qualy in 2021 with a five place grid penalty, so it has always been penalized heavily.

George went on and on in public alone saying he panic braked and avoided and maybe damaged his car etc etc and at least from Max retelling he continued dramatizing it in the stewards room.
    Did that actually happen? We will never know, but based on his public comments, I believe he did probably dramatize the event more than it was because he was doing that in interviews before the stewards verdict.

    It appears that Karun is the only one who truly understands the situation, but I can say it's British podcast. The portrayal suggests that Lando was nearly faultless, which is puzzling. Max observed Lando accelerating, a move that's clearly prohibited under a yellow flag. It's that straightforward. It wasn't Stroll whom Max allowed to overtake; it was Alonso, and he maintained distance, not wanting to hinder other drivers since he had nothing more to gain from this race than Alonso did + it's a rule amongst drivers to give each other space during a cooldown lap. Why is George being labeled by so many as one of the most disagreeable individuals, yet your commentary suggests he's respectable? George has once again demonstrated unsportsmanlike behavior. And why the lengthy discussion about Lewis? His performance in Qatar was unremarkable; does it warrant a ten-minute analysis of his penultimate race with Mercedes?

    I have to point out that if Greg Slater had actually paid attention to the answers that Carlos Sainz provided during his post race interview, he (and the reporting team trackside as well) would have picked up that Carlos explained that he already had the puncture before he crossed the finish line, and thus his puncture was not caused by the debris on track towards the end of the finish straight. Lewis will be fine, won 2 races this year and has 5 podiums... This car wasn't upgrade to his liking, especially with him leaving - it was tuned to George's preferences... Lucky for him, Charles and Lewis have similar styles

    • @im2fast4u711
      @im2fast4u711 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This tuning to driver preference is getting a bit old. The car is developed by designers and engineers, the drivers drive it, make suggestions to improve, goes back to designers and engineers, rinse and repeat. If a car is faster a particular way, that's the way the team is gonna go. If one driver can deal with it and one can't, thats kind of that. Hamilton has struggled since these ground effect cars came about, the first year excuse was he was doing experimental testing, the second year beat Russell but wasn't setting the track on fire either, third year he's all over the place while Russell has been pretty consistent. The car certainly has a lot to do with performance, but you do the best you can with what you have. You dont complain constantly, calling the car bad when your teammate is doing fine, asking to retire the car, saying you won't be racing the next 3 races etc. He's gonna have a rough year next year and won't be surrounded by the friendly faces and encouragement he's had for over a decade with mercedes.

      Stating the obvious here which most F1 fans know, is that Alonso hasn’t had a car anywhere near capable of winning in that time. There’s absolutely no denying that whatsoever unless you want to blatantly lie, like certain Lewis ‘fans’ do. Every normal F1 fan has ultimate respect for Alonso they know he’s one of the greatest to ever do it. The same respect they have for Max, Lewis, Schumacher, Senna etc.
      The answer as to why Lewis gets so much criticism for poor performances is that everyone is used to him winning and being a good driver for years. He’s one of the biggest names in the sport so obviously he’s going to get more attention. Lando is going through the exact same thing this year purely because of how popular he is. Everyone loved him at the start of the season, saying how great he is… now everyone is trying to find a reason to like him because that’s just how social media works. In reality, he’s had a great season, driven superbly and doesn’t deserve any of the hate he’s getting. You can say similar for Max also. Everyone normal fan knows he’s the best driver on the grid but you still see comments calling him useless and that it’s just the car. Unfortunately this is the ugly side of social media that we can’t remove from the sport.

    17:51 The difference, Matt, is that Max pointed Lando's non-lift out to his team over the radio and left it at that for the stewards to work out. However on quali day, George pointed out the impeding over the radio to his team, as is his right, btw; and then actively sent the point home later on in the driver's briefing room. None of us were in the room, but the way it was described, George was fully lobbying against Max in the briefing so that he would get a penalty. That's where the beef came from, not what was said over the radio at the time of the incidents.

    Giving the stewards wiggleroom in this case is a stupid thing to do! It's about safety. How would a driver know how serious a double waved yellow is? Would that then be communicated by the team as in "just ignore the double waved yellow"?
    Double waved yellow should be "reduce speed as soon as possible to pit lane speed". As soon as possible, because quick reductions of speed are dangerous in itself. The stewards can then be the judge if it was reduced quick enough.

    i think he just needs a break 😅 I mean just before the summer break he was banging in the results, its not like he's never had pace this season! The car's inconsistency has baffled him to the point of frustration, Vegas was proof he hasn't simply "lost his pace", it wasn't a lack of pace which caused him to qualify p10, it was one lockup and then just a very unlucky snap, he had pace all weekend. His mind was clearly not in the right place in Qatar. Give him a few months break + a brand new car, + a brand new environment ,and we should see a revitalised lewis. Maybe ferrari can give him the strong rear stability he needs for his driving style to work consistently, which would give him confidence, and help him find his quali pace. His driving style is probably much closer to Leclerc's than it is to George, i mean look at the silverstone lap comparison, the two laps are miles different.

    In my opinion, Noami is a good addition, but she says a lot of nothing. She parrots the same commentary or the obvious sound bites.

    Of course, they will wheel out Naomi to discuss Lewis. Stereotypical!

    lol Karun? What is his track record as driver? Yeah nothing he said is relevant, Naomie is nice but again irrelevant what she said 🤨

    ....Karun not been watching the last few races....Lawson has gone backwards with the one decent result by running long in the first race on Hards..... (though, compared to Perez....different story)

    Matt Baker's hair care products have eaten away the last few brain cells he had.
    1. GR will NEVER be in a championship battle with Max.
    2. ANYONE who irritates Max ends up paying a far bigger price.

      There’s no one on the grid right now who can hold a candle to Max. He’s so far ahead of the rest that I almost feel bad for them-and he’s only just entering his prime. That’s genuinely scary.

    Leclerc will do to Hamilton what he did to Vettel. Everyone knows it but some do not want to accept it.

    Georges is an idiot, he was probably looking at dials on his steering wheel like when he crashed because Alonso braked.

    I’m a big time Lewis fan, but looking at this from an unbiased perspective:
    With a competitive car, on race pace Lewis can still be very good. So I don’t think Ferrari will worry in that sense. But his qualifying this year has been shocking with a few exceptions and he definitely needs to fix that. On qualifying next year he won’t beat Leclerc; but, as his long term pace and tyre management is very good, he may not need to. Not saying he shouldn’t shoot for it. I think Lewis will pick up a few wins and even the odd pole next year. But the field will be super competitive and honestly, Verstappen is just incredibly talented. Top of his game right now, he will be hard to stop. The only sure fire way that Max will lose is if the Red Bull car is substantially worse than the others and the pace is obviously lacking, but I don’t see that being the case, even with Newey gone. I would probably still put Max as the favourite to win next year, but I don’t think Ferrari should be worried about Lewis. He’s probably just ran out of steam at Merc, and it’s natural that the guy staying is going to have the better car too, although not loads. But Lewis will be back for sure next year.

    2013 Lewis looked fresh and young again enjoying driving for new team

    So many people willfully missing the point about Max and George. He's not mad about going to the stewards, what made him mad was that George acted like everything was cool and he wasn't going to make a big deal about it to Max after, and then once they were in the stewards' room acted like Max had murdered him. That's what he said. What made him mad was the inconsistency and how far George went. Max has been in the stewards' room with plenty of drivers for stuff and not had reactions like this, it was clearly a different level.

    If it was anyone else but Lewis, I would be more worried. I think with a car that he can trust on the edge, Lewis will quickly bounce back. At least I hope so!
