Nanci Griffith only more beautiful than her guitar playing is her angelic voice and the incredible depth of her heart and her musical genius. I hope she is looking down with a warm smile that people still find incredible comfort in the lyrics she left behind……this painted an amazing picture of the Woolworth’s store near my home I frequented as a child. Amazing how this artist’s voice paints vivid pictures.
RIP Ms. Griffith; I hope you are dancing a little closer somewhere right now.

I'm a little bit younger than Nanci and remember the big Woolworth's being at the new mall by my home. It had that particular smell she described, the diner counter and stools and an elevator to the right of the counter. Though I was only around 10 y/o
I remember vividly the feeling walking through the front entrance that this is a special place. She brought that memory back to life, I just wish I learned to appreciate this song before her passing.

I had that car! The floor in the back had to be patched up - haha. I saw you in concert, Nanci, in West Palm, FL. One of my most favorite concerts. Your music always reminds me of how simple it can be.
I remember you talking about John Prine. You got me through some tough times as a single parent. Thank you for all you do, Nanci. Melissa

I miss the little cord she would ping at the end of the bridge - to signify the elevator going up.

Did Nanci travel the country in an Orange VW wagon ? Quite interested in the origins of this video.

is it wrong to say she was the female version of John Denver.... disarmingly wholesome...

Nice video but why not show a " Woolworth " the real 5 and dime and not some small town store, Nanci came to London and had the taxi driver stop when she saw the big " Woolworth " store it must have been magic
