  • *** UPDATE, READ PINNED COMMENT BELOW! My friends at Neewer sent me this nifty little 8 channel mixer amzn.to/31pNZsh. It has a lot of features for the price, such as 4 phantom powered XLR inputs, 8 line inputs, stereo aux send, RCA in/out 8th inch input, 4 master controls, built-in USB interface, and a mic stand mount. I wanted to do a real world test, so I asked my friend Ronan Conroy if he wanted to do a live performance to test it out, he agreed and invited his friend Erel over to help out. Pick up Ronan's latest LP on vinyl at ronanconroy.ba....

I've discovered a major flaw in the USB connection of this mixer after making this video. It is impossible not to record your previous track onto your input track if you are attempting to record audio using the USB connection, even if it is just a click track. The usb input from the computer automatically routes back to the output no matter what button assignments you are using making USB overdubbing impossible. Live use it is still fine. However, if you use the analog inputs and outputs, you can record/overdub the way you should be able to. This is pretty unfortunate and may be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

@@AS-do3vj I needed to record to my computer and had the same problem but there is a fix: Take the headphone out of your computer (using an adapter) to put the previously recorded tracks into LINE IN 7/8. Now (again using an adapter) plug your head phones into the AUX OUT. Make sure the LINE knob on 7/8 is off. Now you can monitor through the headphones the previously recorded tracks and your live tracks using the AUX sends while your new tracks will go to your computer without the previous tracks being recorded to the new tracks.

Good to know! I bought this mixer some months ago for live work (I use my Scarlet 6i6 for PC work), but have not had the time to actually use it yet! I don't do much live performances anymore, but figured for the price, it was worth a shot. I am glad to see it is not a turd!

Hi Justin -- looking at the lower-end Behringer 4 XLR input mixers, I don't see channel solo buttons for them, either. For example the Xenyx 1202 or the Q1202USB. For Behringer not sure which lower-end models are the first ones to have solo buttons.

Im using Windows 10 and this mixer with a brand labeled "Soundking mix04au". My issue is im picking up a terrible noise when I record it through USB or audio out. What Ive found also is even the mixer is powered off, the noise is still there. This makes it useless in recording. Do you know how can I fix this? Thanks in advance

Hey man, getting absurds amount of hissing/static/white noise/whatever whenever I use it (I plug my guitar and bass to it), to the point that when I open Guitar Rig on FL Studio, the white noise seems actually louder than the guitar itself. Any ideas on what may be causing this and how to fix it?

    • @demonicsweaters

If you're unsure of what you're doing, I definitely wouldn't start with 7 mics. I would recommend 4 mics. 1 kick, 1 snare, 2 overheads. This will sound more than good enough for 90% of your situations. I would also recommend doing it with a 4 channel interface since you then will have every channel on a separate track.
