  • Chaitanya Tamhane's Court (2015) is a unison of the vast ideals the city of Mumbai accommodates. But while this holds great potential and power, we ultimately see the court's lights going off. The ones in the justice departments are just detached from justice, and this interruption of the flow of justice is the realist message the film gives us about Law in India.
Cast: Vira Sathidar, Vivek Gomber, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Pradeep Joshi, Shirish Pawar, Usha Bane
    Production Company: Zoo Entertainment

The Suave Critic Video Essays consist of analysis videos on your favourite Indian and World Arthouse Films that are predominantly focused on shedding light on the morality, art and language of filmmaking. The biggest observation made by us is that a lot of other essays are too fast and detached from the form of good filmmaking. The Suave Critic believes that the video essay is as much of an art as the film it is on.
Svanik Surve is a film student who is passionate about Deleuzian film analysis and atmospheric filmmaking that slows down this fast-paced world and introduces thought into the frame.

(Commenting for the algorithm) I did not watch the entire video since I still haven't seen the film. So I skipped when you started talking about the ending. I know this is not a good way to watch an essay. But I'll watch the film and then the video back again asap. Also heard so much about Court. Critique: this seems to be the best video of yours that I've seen. It's very simple, to the point, the pacing is just right, dissects a complicated film in a way anyone will understand. The breaking of the flow was brilliant, I loved that you smartly used it to ask to subscribe (because from your perspective it seems your flow is to gain more subscribers and that's smart). I loved that you talked enough about the themes and still were able to stay away from giving away major spoilers. This video also has a lot of "show don't tell" approach. Like instead of describing the themes like information, you show it instead and that also in a way supports your argument. THIS is how a "video" essay should be. I'd say you've improved. I loved how this video is simple, short, focused all at once.

Great analysis! I watched the movie and found it boring, but after watching this video, at least things make sense.
