mickey thompson baja claws are amazing. and moving battery to the front helps with crawling and hill climbing. having a heavy front and light rear end means you will have less of a chance of flipping backwards when hill climbing, and for crawling once you get your front tires on top of something you have all that weight already over the object. so your truck can pull itself up over things way easier with a very light rear end and a heavier front end.
WOW! thank you for the explanation it was very helpful I kinda understood the concept but that was explained clear as a bell very good and thanks again! I did move everything and got the proline super swampers and it really is a night and day difference.
Great video!......and the battery forward makes a world of difference!
Better traction, the weight distribution really puts those front wheels to work
thanks man yea I did eventually put everything forward and it makes a huge difference
Yea buddy!!
put the battery at the base of the windshield helps with the center of gravity. I also moved it on my scx 10 and it made a world of difference
just did that it was kind of a pain in the butt! but i got it to work and i did notice a difference in performance ! ill do an update video soon.
Awesome. I have a TON of pistons and never really experimented with them. Seeing this much of a difference, I'm going to have to take a closer look and see what does what.
ya man check em out and u discover a sweet ass setup let us know! id love to see a video of it!
Pit Bull Tires! I have them on my Deadbolt and my Bomber. They work great on both. Just got a Wraith, just because I think their awesome and they may not be around very long. Axial is coming out with new stuff and doing away some. Thanks for the shock trick, had not seen that one. Got one run on the Wraith and came home and started marking it a climber. I was impressed with in stock form, with a little work it is going to be GREAT!
thanks bro and your welcome! I love my wraith I got my eye on the bomber too!
I like battery up front. with it in the back the truck rolls backwards when crawling up rocks and hills. I even add small fishing weights behind the headlights for more front weight.
He's right..... weight up front is your friend when crawling!
i would go with the proline interco tsl sx super swampers xl 2.2s they are pretty sticky with the g8 compound and they have a nice open lug design for mud and they are TALL, 5.8 inches (where as the original ripsaws were 5.5). im sure you can get taller but that might pose a rollover problem. and the battery forward mod made a world of difference. i did to mine and now i can actually climb pretty steep slopes. it also made the front articulate better and all i did to the rear shocks was adjust the preload way down
Awesome thank you Sarah!!
+Ricky Revo rc I know the last comment was posted 9 months ago, but if you purchased the Super Swampers I would love you're opinion. I bought them a while back, and TBH... I absolutely frickin HATE them!!!!!!! It's crazy because so many people just swear by them, but my MudSlingers actually KILLED the Swampers in every single way possible for me. What's your opinion good sir?!
I love the super swampers for crawling and general bashing. I have a set of baja claws for loose sand snow and mud. I noticed if its wet or a little slick the super swampers struggle.
The ripsaws are great
Sweet suspension on that wraith can't wait to see it with the droop kit and skull rear diff cover
Funny, the damper pistons are pretty much the only thing on my Wraith that I *didn't* change. I did replace the damper housings and caps with aluminum, but the damper shafts, pistons, and springs are stock. The only thing I did to soften them was change to 20wt oil.
What I done with mine is actually replace the oil with wd40 providing your seals are all good works a treat
Hmmm. Interesting.
@@RickyRevorc from what I done it's enough to stop them being super springy but enough so they become soft
I use the hb rover's white tires on mine. works great
pro-line tsl super swampers 2.2" g8 xl tires are soft and crawl pretty well and would go through mud I have a full set on my ax10 deadbolt. Also moving the esc to the back and the battery up front helps to put the weight on the front wheels and it helps it climb up inclines better so I am told. Also running a 2200mah 2s with the stock setup helps, I experimented with my ax10 deadbolt by crawling with a 5000mah 2s 50c when I had the stock 20t motor and I had terrible incline ability. switching to a lighter battery can help too, just don't go too low a MAH rating or your run time will be greatly decreased.
Rc 4wd Mickey thompson baja claws 2.2 work great i have a set on my poison spider and love it
Jconcepts ruptures are a really good rock tire
lots of ppl put a batt up front for the steep inclines. I did make an adjustable side battery tray for my wraith and it's a central mount location seams to have the best of both worlds for hills, to jumping feel free to browse through my vids and youl come across it
FYI to anyone seeing this Video.... If you have a Wraith Spawn, it already COMES with these Springs that he had to buy.
I don't know what other Wraiths come with the 1.04lb Springs, but the Spawn does. 😉
thanks a lot i've bought it a Wraith spawn this morning . You saved me few bucks !
I love the epic background music lol nice video though😃
swampers tsl good all around
thanks buddy!
I Max red rocks are good tires
What weight sock oil works best
30 weight!
How full do you fill it with oil
VK right before you hit the top and then you push the Piston up and down and you will expel a little bit of fluid but that's okay
Hyrax tires for rock crawling ! Stick like glue.
whats the diff between this method and just by changing the oil to a lighter oil?
the shock shaft cycles faster and smoother through the shock body because there is less resistance
Bomber is another Axial great. The only problem is it has no speed, needs motor change, even rock crawler folks have a need for speed. Got need brushless sensored motor combination on order.
With the 2 speed metal transmission in my Wraith...I have super crawler control in the 1st gear..and in de 2nd gear enough speed and jump, bash power .
Never worry no more...one truck for all purposes...
upgrade
the stock servo has a plastic bushing for the servo arm. this bushing is very weak and will strip the gears out from excessive play. best to replace with a ball bearing. keep that stock servo working longer.
Any shocks that come pre oiled and are good quality for low price cause im better with just installing it.
Jack Jackson pn
That's not modeling. Tuning is half the fun.
So if i buy the poison spyder wraith, i dont hve to do this mod, just change out the springs??
hello there is this can be applied to all stock axial scx10 shocks?
