  • Return of the properly pronounced drow elf painting guide. This guide is just on the skin and is closer to the skin tone as described in most Dungeon & Dragons works.
    Miniature is Raging Heroes Lust Elf.

    Doc, your one of the reasons why I got back into modelling after 40 years of hiatus. Great work....

    I'm more interested in how you did that skirt. That's a damn good transition.

      Looks wet blended, and the freehand swirls he added in there were a nice touch as well I must say.

    Good stuff. There are a LOT of mini painters on TH-cam that I've watched over the years. Dr. Faust was the first I subscribed to years ago, and his videos are continually the ones I get the most from - fun to watch, simple, clear, and to the point!

      I assumed he is the original TH-cam mini painters. Is he not?

    Would have been super helpful ten years ago when I tried to make a dark elf Warhammer army. Thanks for the video

    Wow! The Drow skin contrasted with the gold really pops! One of your best paint jobs, IMHO. Keep up the great work, I love your content!

    That is really good work. The colors you use really made the shin tone work great. The Hombre effect on the Skirt looks fantastic as well.

    I know you are super busy, but if you get the time could you do a miniature from start to finish like you used to? I miss the longer videos.

    I knew the comments would be full of pronunciation corrections. Love it. Amazing paint job, as always. For all those other comments, it is most widely pronounced drow, to rhyme with pow. I say it pronounced like the good doctor himself, as in drow drow drow your boat, mainly because it drives my D&D group crazy, lol.

    Question; since I lack the Cork Brown, would a good alternative be either Gun Corps Brown or Beast Hide, from the P3 line?

    I want to know what paint brush you're using. It's so stiff it looks like you are drawing with a pencil.

      It's pronounced "ow" as in the sound you make when she's peeling your skin off.

    Is there a reason you mostly use Vallejo paints over the other brands? I'm in the market for new paint, I usually use GW but I love your work and am interested in Vallejo now, I just don't know how they might be different or better. What's your opinion?

    • @ThePaintingClinic
      @ThePaintingClinic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because it's high quality and, most importantly, they are a PAINT company, not a game company. Going with game paints from a 3rd party supplier you run the risk of them changing manufacturers or going out of business because their game didn't sell.

    I notice you always have these round bases. Where do you get them from?

    • @TheRunesmythe
      @TheRunesmythe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe he said (in response to a similar question) a few videos back they come from Fenrys or Fenris, something like that.

    • @TheRunesmythe
      @TheRunesmythe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Bob Duckington while Privateer Press does make lipped round bases, the ones Dr Faust uses with the presculpted details are from a different company.

      It's a generic plastic base from Ebay with a clay stamp texture. Green Stuff World, I think.
