Thanks everyone for watching, hopefully you enjoy these long term reviews, it's a new concept I'm testing with skis that I've gotten more mileage on since my initial review.
Picked up a pair of QST 98 demos for sale near the end of season after your (and Ski Essentials) raving about them (East Coast/ VT). So good! We had a couple of late powder days and they were great in bumps and trees. Also was blown away at how well they carve groomers (esp since no metal/ carbon). Thanks!!!
Elliot- thanks for the review; I bought the ski early in the season partially based on your first review and love them. Felt comfortable immediately; tons of float; super friendly to maneuver. Just need more powder.
Hi Elliott 😊 Since when can people not ski in deep powder with a 106cm ski? Good skiers should be able to manage in deep snow with any ski over 100cm… just my two cents. I can’t wait to go skiing next winter 😊⛷️
After struggling a little with my Mantra's in deep Sierra "cement" powder, your review brought the 106s to my attention and (after some more research) I bought my first designated powder ski - this year's 106 in a 173cm (a tad shorter than my 177 Mantra's but same as my Blizzard Brahma 82s). I also got the Pivot spx12 bindings but haven't been able to set it all up yet. So keen I'm actually considering going to Chili cos the season is done on this side of the planet
I just picked these up in a 189cm. Haven't skied them yet but I can report that they are overweight. Salomon says the 189 is 2080g and shows it right on the ski. Mine weight 2290g. Other outlets have confirmed higher than stated weights as well. The are surprisingly stiff and feel like powerful planks. If your after a lighter alternative that would be the RMU Apostle 106 at sub 2,000g.
I demoed the 106 in a 188 length.. This was before they changed the shape a little.. I think the turn radius was 23m... I am pretty sure that the turn radius is shorter now.. I would probably be fine with the 182 length.. I agree with everything that you have said with these skis.. With that being said I would compare them to my DPS Wailer F100 x 184.. The thing that I think is different is that the tails on my DPS are very turny and if you lean back the skis will spin.. Other than that the shape is very similar.. There is no metal... Some carbon but not in a reactive sort of way.. I really would compare these skis to water skis... I used to slalom and I even did some slalom courses.. They absorb really good and they float really good.. Great skis..
hi Elliot, i bought the qst 92 after you talked about them. After skiing narrow carving skis for my first 10 years on snow, i really liked their performance on and off trail. To expand my quiver, i was looking at some even wider freeride options. I was looking at the Atris , but also considered the qst 106 or even the ranger 102. What would the best option in your opinion. Greatings from the Alps
In my experience the top sheet on these has been absolute garbage. I bought mine new for the 22-23 season but they were the prior season's model (darker colored top sheet). After two days of use there were cracks and parts of the top sheet closest to the edge that were coming off. I complained and was told by the large seller based on the East Coast that it was user error and that I was stuck with them.

Oh, great find! Glad you love them
Just pulled the trigger on a pair of these. Selling for under 300eur here in Europe right now. Cheers Elliott
Woah great find!

Awesome! glad you were happy with them
Agree about the spx. Great value. Enough binding for 90% + of skiers. A great option if you don't have the budget for pivot
It's wild, it's like the perfect mix of value and quality imo

I mean he just said the QSt blank would make sense over the 106 in "really" deep powder, or maybe i missed something he said

I was between these and the Armada Declivities 108 TI @ 190... ended up going with Armadas but glad to see they hold up after a year

You should have a video on how to buy a powder ski. Kinda like your "what ski width should i get" video. Im in the market for some now lol

How about the QST echo? Have you skied those? Would be interesting to see what difference does just construction and weight make.

Hello,
I m 6'2, 190lbs, intermediate skier. I ski mostly off pist (I like the soft snow on the side of the pist). Should I get the 181 or 189 version?
This comment will be featured in our next video so keep an eye open for your answer!
How is it when the snow gets chopped up and tracked? Does it cut through well, or would the 98 width be better for those conditions?
Curious about the new Maverick 115 powder skis.
but but qst 92 vs maverick 95? ;)
Just for reference, how tall are you Elliott?
6'1"
You don't have to justify 2 pow skis, You're an influencer!😂
haha I will try this explanation on my wife and report back
