It's absolutely fair to be picky; they aren't cheap dolls! Especially in a collection like yours, where you do try to keep your space in mind and how much is being spent, it makes sense that you want to keep the dolls that really speak to you and let go of ones that aren't hitting you quite right. That's the joy of a personal collection; you get to set the curation standards. I think she looks adorable, but as we well know about me, I can't see the issues that people point out. Even with you carefully outlining the eye issue, I was still sitting there unable to see it. But that is me, and your collection should speak to you and Grace. Thank you for sharing your video, and I'm sorry you were disappointed. Hopefully she can either rise to the occasion or make way for a different 54 to come home in the future.
Yeah - we paid for the doll and for the hospital visit, so she was reasonably priced but still definitely not free. We're going to keep her and if we came across the "perfect" one, we'd either replace this one or just have two (depends on pricing and how attached we get to Maddie).
You know what I was never on the hunt for 54 until hearing how much you hoped she was at the benefit sale and since then I’ve been looking to find her for a good price. I didn’t even notice her teeth being off center till you said anything I was like dang she’s good at this. I see what you mean about her eye pointing slightly downward although she’s one of the prettiest 54’s I’ve ever seen and like you said her face paint is gorgeous on her I love her blush I saw your IG post so I’m assuming you kept her as is congratulations on your dream doll !❤️
Thanks! The chances of us getting a doll head that has bigger issues are probably pretty high and I do think she is really a good one as Jess molds go - I just was hoping for "perfect" lol so it took some adjusting. The photo shoot today definitely helped me adjust :-)
congratulations on your new doll she is beautiful. I love your reaction she will be a great addition to your doll family. I cant wait to see her dressed .
Thanks! I don't know if you're on IG, but we did a short photo shoot with Maddie yesterday (after this aired) and Grace put the photos up on @grace.agig - Maddie does look beautiful in the pics, so doing that photo shoot helped sell me on her.
Thank you! For the validation that the eyes *are* uneven and also for acknowledging that in spite of that, she looks gorgeous (especially once she's dressed up). I still wish her eyes were perfectly level, but we did an outdoor photo shoot with her yesterday after this aired and it really sold me on her.
I totally understand the eye thing, it would bother me if it was my doll but not enough that I’d call AG and get it fixed it’s something I think I could get used to and see as a cute quirk. She’s so cute and I hope she grows on you and you love her or you find another one you do love. 💖
Thanks - If we returned the one we just got, there's no guarantee it wouldn't have bigger issues. Given her great coloring, the fact that she has notches, and the fact that her eyes are the same *size*, we're going to keep her. I think she'll grow on my. I won't be able to unsee the eye thing but I don't think it'll stop me from connecting with her.
Hey Kristie, congratulations on your Maddie.I completely understand your point of view,I would be the same way if a doll i sent in came back a lil bit off😮.That said I now want a TM#54🤣🤣🤣.I've alway's wanted a TM #4 but haven't seen her at a price I can do😢.I myself have 1 eye that goes up and 1 eye that goes down so if I had Maddie she would be a mini me☺ ,except for the fact that on myself I can't stand bangs at all😒.My bangs go off to one side but other than that Maddie would be my mini me😅.What ever you choose to do is up to you as your aware but I hope you will connect w/ Maddie.Such a personal decision here 💗.Good luck bonding w/ Maddie and thankyou for sharing. Regard's, Lisa
Thank you for this review… I honestly thought it was always me that would look at dolls in their eyes and find that as a reason not to bond with them. I think she’s beautiful and look forward to finding out if she stays. Although now I feel like I need a 54 from my collection 🥰🥰🥰
She's staying. I'm not going to unsee that difference in her eyes, but the same day this video came out we took Maddie outside and did a short photoshoot and she just looked so pretty that she won me over. Do I wish her eyes were perfectly level? Honestly, I do. But it's okay. (and yes, you should totally add a 54 to your collection lol)
I have issue with the Jess mold, too. I only have "Jess" and no other girl with that mold. I can't even find a Kanani that I'm happy with! Collectors need to speak out, though! AG will never change things if we remain complacent. Your doll is sweet but, I noticed the not- level eyes right away. Because she does have bangs, it does disguise it a bit. I love #54 too, but I've gotten so jaded now I don't know if I'll ever get another Jess Mold. I appreciate your honest opinion-I don't hear it often enough concerning this.😊
Thank you for the validation. I do wish AG had been able to offer more consistency with this mold. It's just one they've always seemed to struggled with. In the end we decided to keep her but a) I'll still consider buying another if I ever come across a "perfect" one and b) I think this helped me decide that from here on out I will only buy a Jess mold if I can see her in multiple very clear pics (and I won't be getting 110 or the other Jess mold TM because I don't happen to like them, so it'll only be retired ones if I get any in the future).
The first thing I noticed, was the difference in the eyes. They are so different. With that said, once you dress her up it seemed to look fine, she’s very cute.
Kristie. I think your new 54 “Maddie” is so cute. The Jess mold isn’t my most favourite but I do have an Ivy which I have grown to love. You have the right to be picky about your preferences. In my opinion she is very sweet and I think her eyes look great. I am not a fan of “perfect” in people or dolls. I think all dolls have their own personality and charm stemming from their unique differences. I think the Jess mold was created this way intentionally and not necessarily a defect. Her eyes have a little more of an Asian look than your number 40. Their faces look totally different to me. I hope you will keep her!🥰
The cynic in me says, "But the differences in the molds are also inconsistent (one Jess mold has two different sized eyes and another has equal sized eyes but they're not level, for example)." Maybe I'm too cynical but I have a hard time seeing it as intentional and not simply a quality control issue (especially given other quality control issues the company has). That said, we did an outdoor photo shoot with Maddie yesterday after this aired and that sold me on her.
@@agtakesover maybe the Jess mold is like Samantha. There are so many versions of her! Lol. I am sure there are quality control issues as well as I hear that a lot. Most of my dolls are thrifted and I tend to bond with them more if they have some silly issue. My Corinne doll is perfect and one day I hope to connect with her. She was brand new in box. I think I will put her ski outfit on and mess her up a bit!! “Giggles” Enjoy your new girl 💕
I know actual humans aren't perfect, and that's great. But I'm in the camp that would be happy to have perfectly symmetrical dolls. It's part of the appeal of dolls as *art* (which is different than when I appreciate them as *representations of everyday life*, both of which I do). Perfect dolls don't creep me out. That said, they're rare and most of my dolls are definitely not perfect. For me the question is whether or not their little quirks bother me enough to make me not connect with a doll. I was on the fence about Maddie, but we're keeping her and she's had outdoor photo shoot already and plenty more in her future :-)
Glad to hear it! Some ppl still seem to be struggling a bit to hear it, so the search for a sound solution might continue, but *my voice* will never be jarring or overdone, hopefully - just a little more volume to the way I naturally speak ;-)
Thank you!! The same day this aired I did an outdoor photo shoot with her and she instantly started winning me over. I hope you find an amazing 54 to add to your collection!
I know she's not that different than Ivy (who we already have) but she IS still different and she's really such a pretty doll. I hope you get a great one!
She looked so pretty in all the outfits you put her in I get what you are saying about the eyes but I didn’t necessarily notice it once she was in the outfits.
Loved this! It was helpful to see what you look for when comparing dolls. That might make for a great video series: what to look for when comparing dolls by face mold? Violet is definitely my fave and I would be equally selective about the eyes. You should love your doll entirely and if for whatever reason you don’t, then you can always keep on the hunt. Good luck deciding! Thanks for sharing. Oh and sound was low for me compared to your other videos aside from the voiceover segment.
Thanks for the feedback about the sound - the search for a solution shall continue lol. And how funny that you say that would make a good video! I already had something like that in my video idea notebook. Maybe I'll go ahead and film it sooner rather than later :-)
She is beautiful. I had the same issue with my #79 I bought from the AG online store. The eyes were different sizes and not symmetrical :/ I sent her back and then bought a used one from a private seller that was perfect. The two dolls you compared look very different to me.
We're going to keep her :-) We did a short outdoor photo shoot yesterday after this aired, and it sold me on her. Also, congrats on your new (to you) Grace doll!! I watched that video the other day and how kind of Kristen! She's a beautiful doll :-)
Yeah - if they exist, they're definitely elusive lol. My favorite Jess mold of our collection is still our #40, Violet. But Maddie is cute and I hope she keeps growing on me.
@@agtakesover I like my #40 too. She’s my stand in for Joss’ best friend Sofia. I think my Ivy is also pretty good - it took a long time until I found one where her eyes looked good in the listing photos. My goal was to get #30 and customize her to be Kira’s friend Alexis but I never followed through. Two of my favorite customs are Jess molds.
I agree, but I think Maddie is beautiful. Truly. More symmetrical than humans, you know. It is as good as it gets with the Jess mold. Personally, I think she is beyond lovely. She is totally lovable. I am not indiscriminate but I would be very pleased. However, you have to be. Ultimately. I only have older Jess molds but among the new ones she is A+ in my books. 😊❤😊
I have two Jess mold dolls, one who is a cyo I made in my fiancé’s likeness and the other is a customised Frankenstein of a doll, basically I bought a bunch of parts on the internet and built her and her head is an old jess head that I customised. I can see they are different in a lot of minor ways but really I’m rather pleased with how they both turned out. The cyo looks very much like my fiancé and it’s pretty uncanny.
Oh, I love that you had a doll made to look like your fiance! If you ever want to send pictures (agtakesover@gmail.com) I'd love to see them - I checked your channel but it doesn't look like there are any recent All My Dolls videos.
@@agtakesover yeah I’ve been contemplating making a video like that but that would take me awhile. I’ll probably do that once I’m done with the massive cleaning project I’m doing. I do plan to be more active here on TH-cam. I love this community so much and would love to kinda be part of it
The dolls are expensive and I would prefer not to have to chalk up a company's quality control issues to art imitating life. I would rather her eyes be totally level. That said, once I got her dressed properly and outside for a photo shoot, I was much happier with her and she'll be staying with us as is.
@@agtakesover totally agree with you and once you see it you can’t not see it . I meant only if you were on the fence about it , then it would be ok for her to be different .
I hear you good, still sounds the same on my end. Congrats on Maddie! She’s cute even with a bum eye lol. I’m not a doll connoisseur yet lol so I didn’t notice the eye or teeth until you mentioned it. She looks much better with her hair out and dressed in nice clothing! 😊
Thanks for the feedback about the sound. Unfortunately, I think the search for a sound solution continues (based on some other comments). And I agree - her eye situation is way less noticeable when she's out of her hospital gown and dressed properly. She's not 100% what I was hoping for but we're going to keep her.
My Kanani's eyes are not even either. Yes, it bugs me a little and I try to ignore it. I'm wanting another Jess mold doll and it's good to be aware of the issues with this mold.
I see what you’re saying about the eyes, but it’s not that noticeable. Maddie is an adorable doll. Definitely keep her! I had a similar issue with my Kanani, who I sent to the doll hospital for a new head. At first it bothered me, and now I don’t even notice it. It’s ok to love the look of the new dolls without expecting them to look like the older ones. They don’t make them like that anymore.
We did a photo shoot with her yesterday after this aired and that helped convince me she's a keeper. I'm glad you were able to get past it with your Kanani (same here - I think with Jess molds you just get as close as you can to what you're hoping for and call it good). I'm not 100% sure I understand the comment that it's okay to love the look of the new dolls without expecting them to look like the older ones. Could you expand so I know I've understood correctly?
@@agtakesover I could give an example of what I mean with the new release Kit doll. I expected her to look just like the original Kit, so when I saw that she has a slimmer face and something different about her eyes, I was not interested in getting her. Now, after some time has passed, I keep looking at her and thinking how cute she is. She doesn’t look like my original Kit, but I think I could love her for the new style she has. Hopefully I’ll be able to add the new Kit doll to my collection at some point. I have a few other things on my wish list to get first, like Claudie’s new items.
@@kellysamericangirls3212 OK, I get that. But I consider both my 54 and my 40 to be older Jess molds. They're obviously not from the exact same era, but they're clearly not the same mold being used for 110. And it's not that I dislike the newer molds on principle. We do have one exception (our TM64 is a newer one) and I like her less than our others (Kanani, 40, 54, Ivy, and the boy Jess mold). I feel this way about the Sonali and Jess molds but the changes that have happened with all the other molds don't bother me.
I only have 3 Jess molds. I’m not super picky about eyes so long as they are looking at the same point. A friend told me once that when picking out a doll, take several photos with your camera to see if you like the eyes. Honestly, I didn’t notice either the teeth or the eye issues till you pointed them out. But, she’s your doll and you need to be happy. To be perfectly honest, I prefer Maddie’s eyes to Violets. They seem more almond shaped (probably due to the eye notches) and narrower, less oval shaped. I gasped when I saw Graces photos on Instagram. I was kinda surprised when I came to watch your video and you weren’t initially as excited as I was. I hope she grows in you but if not, move her out to someone who will love her and continue looking for YOUR 54.
But your first impression of Maddie was the IG photoshoot we did yesterday and she looks amazing. Even in those photos I still notice her eyes but it doesn't bother me. Stripped of the lovely background, a great outfit, and a creative angle, my first impression was a lot different. I would've been happier if her eyes were perfectly aligned but I am happy with her now that we have done a proper photo shoot with her.
So I did notice that the audio quality was lower in the beginning of the video. I agree & am the same exact way about Jess molds !!! They have the most issues & it’s such a shame because I love the Jess mold. I have 2 truly me 54s that look very different. It drives me insane when the doll eyes have that downward stare which is why I sold my 64. The first thing I noticed with your new truly me 54 was not only the downward stare but one eye is lower than the other… where is quality control smh she did look better when you dressed her. I love my ivy because of how cute she looks including her eyes !
Yep - you get me. No downward stare on this one thankfully and her eyes are the same size which is good (look, the bar is low where consistency and Jess molds are concerned), but I do wish they were totally level. And I completely agree - the Jess mold is so lovely, when there aren't these quality control issues. IDK if you saw the pics Grace posted on her agig, but we did a photo shoot with Maddie after this aired yesterday and they really helped sell me on her.
If I’m looking really close and paying extreme attention I can kind of see the eye difference but to me personally the teethe were more noticeable! I had to really try to see the eye difference and it’s even less noticeable once you changed her outfit at least to me! I think you got a beautiful mold and I’ve definitely seen them get a lot worse. I know she’s not perfect, but I don’t know if sending her back she would get any better. My only suggestion would be searching for an older Jess face mold online and doing and eye and wig swap so long as the brows match! Then you would get to pick the mold
She completely grew on me once I took her outdoors and did a photo shoot with her. I think it's okay to be particular and if I hadn't ended up liking her I wouldn't feel guilty or apologetic. But I'm really glad I ended up liking her and we definitely decided she's a keeper :-)
My husbands teeth are off center and if I stare at them it bothers me…😂 so I make myself not look too hard and try to forget about it when it comes to mind. He does look wonderful when he smiles! I just look at the whole picture and not how his front teeth are off center 😅
I've only just received my second ever AG doll (Evette) last week. Right away I noticed something a little off about one of her eyes. I think one is smaller or slightly lower than the other. I've never had to send a doll back and I don't want to. I really want to just learn to live with that slight imperfection but I understand how you feel. It can be hard. Otherwise, Evette is just fine from what I can tell. I think it's our right to be picky for the prices that are being paid for these dolls (I got mine straight from AG.) Also I can't afford not to be picky because for me these dolls aren't something I'm able to afford often (and I'm just extremely picky anyway even with other dolls I collect.) But I'm new to collecting and I am learning now that I have to be very vigilant about these imperfections when I am able to pick them up in store. I believe whatever is up with my Evette is reflected in your #40 (mine isn't her lashes but I think her eye shape and position) so I suppose if you love her even with her flaws, I can learn to love my Evette with hers. Lol or I could really benefit from someone talking me into keeping her. Someone please talk me into keeping her. Anyway I hope that you can bond with this new doll. Good luck!
Another option for you with your Evette is to return her but instead of rolling the dice again, you can use a personal shopper that works in one of the AG stores and you can tell them exactly what you're looking for in a doll. I haven't done this because we have a local store, but I have the name of a personal shopper that comes highly recommended and you're welcome to email me for that (agtakesover@gmail.com)
I saw the eye difference when you unboxed her but did not notice it in the dress up shots. They are the same size and that is hard to find. I think she is a keeper but it only matters how you feel.
Thank you - I was kind of bracing myself for some "don't be so picky" comments and there have been a couple, but people have overwhelmingly been understanding and kind. I agree with you - dressed up she looks so adorable. We did an outdoor photo shoot yesterday after this aired (it's on my wife's agig now) and that helped solidify it for me - she isn't perfect and I do wish her eyes were completely level but she's still beautiful and is a keeper.
I think she's beautiful! I used to be much more of a perfectionist, and things like that would bother me too. The older I get, the more accepting I am. It just seems like a lot of wasted time and energy. I buy dolls for really cheap on OfferUp. As low as 25 dollars sometimes, and they can be in rough condition. I love fixing them up, and putting them in cute new outfits. I feel like I'm collecting orphans, and giving them a better life! My fiancé always says my dolls look happy.😊I am new to collecting AG dolls, so there's tons I don't know, but I am obsessive, so I have as many as you do. I found my 54 at Goodwill for 6.99. She was the second AG doll I ever got, and was dressed in Samatha's Be Forever meet dress, so I thought she was Samantha for the longest time! When I finally deduced that she was 54, and people seek her out, I was thrilled! If they have tiny flaws, I think it adds to their character. After all, no human face is perfectly symmetrical. The Japanese believe that dolls are "entities" and so do I. I hope you grow to love her!
I did end up loving her. It didn't even take long :-) The day after this video aired we did a nice outdoor photo shoot and getting her out in the natural light was all it took!
I heard for the most part the doll doctors do the best they can it's possible they didn't have many 54 heads left and just picked the best one they could. ❤
Absolutely. And that's another reason we're keeping her. Who knows how many more they have and whether they'd be any better, whether they'd have the notches, etc.
40's eyes are much rounder and Maddie's are much more oval shaped. Add to that the eye notches, and they look completely different. I agree with Grace - they are the same size and I think they look great. But it's your doll and you need to be happy with her. I'll be curious to hear what you end up deciding. As for the sound, it is lower than your other videos, but I just turned the volume up to compensate. That being said, when you jumped in with the voice over at the end, it was quite a bit louder and I needed to quickly turn the volume down. So, I'm not sure if the ear buds helped, but at least they were cheap. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for the feedback about the sound - the search for a solution continues, it seems. And yes - as you saw the really cute pics on agig, you know we did decide to keep her. I don't know that Grace was ever willing to send her back lol. But *I* wasn't sold on her until we got her outdoors and did the photo shoot. I still wish her eyes were completely level, but in spite of that she's a keeper.
@@agtakesover I just saw a 54 for sale online and one of her eyes looked like your 40's and one like your 54's (one round and one oval). It was quite a disturbing site. I watched her auction and no one bought her, poor thing. I'm so glad you consider yours to be a keeper. :)
Thanks - I still think the sound was being picked up by my phone rather than the earbuds so I'll keep looking for a better option but I'm glad you could hear it. I can hear it too - it's just quieter than I'd like and I feel like I have to be REALLY close to the phone lol.
I didn't know that we had to name the truly me dolls before sending them in?? I thought that they just wanted what they were called in the catalog and on the website. When I sent my red-head in, i just filled out the "name" slot with "#17".
They probably take them either way - in this case, for some reason the online form wasn't working and Grace had to phone in the request. The rep happened to ask the doll's name and Grace just said Maddie off the cuff. Turns out we both like it :-)
To me the sound is lower than your normal videos and it’s a bit low for me but I am hard of hearing so I would say the volume is a good level for most everyone else. :). I get the eyes bother you but hopefully you can get past that because she regally is gorgeous!! She looked amazing in all the outfits you put her on especially the 2nd to last one. It was a dark top or something and her eyes just really popped in that outfit and she looked so pretty! ❤ your little Maddie :)
Thank you - I appreciate that people are understanding as I figure out a good option. Voice over videos are fine because I have a great mic for them, but the ones where I'm on screen are a work in progress :-)
I never know if it's your volume or my devise, but when I have to turn my hearing aids up it's usually because the volume is too low. I had to go up 2 notches today.
Sometimes it has happend to me as well that some dolls might have had one eye a bit off and I totally get it and you have every right to be picky. But to make myself feel better I think of them as real life where not one single feature is exactly and eprfectly equal. As they say brows/eyes are cousing, not twin sisters lol.
I've never heard that expression. I did end up really liking her because we did an outdoor photo shoot the day after this aired and she looked so lovely in the natural light that I just didn't mind her eyes at all.
@@agtakesover sorry it must maybe be an expression used here in my country lol. But I'm very glad you ended up really liking her and she is super cute. Keep up the great work!
I have seen in my own Jess molds lots of differences. At least she has the good eyes, unlike my 79 and some of my CYO dolls. Or looking down eyes, so that the only way to photograph them is capturing a turned up nose. Not good. I have yet to see perfectly placed teeth on my Jess molds. To me, yours looks good. But I totally understand if you should decide to ask for a different one. I did that with my 79 and the one they sent so that I could decide which one to keep was no different. I think that perhaps they should redo the Jess face mold. I believe they updated the Josefina face mold because I've noticed my newer dolls have both eyes looking the same way instead of one looking this way and the other looking that way.
Yeah - I feel like they never made a single 79 with good eyes. And I do not enjoy doing eye swaps in generally but feel downright scared to attempt an eye swap with a Jess mold, so I'd be really reluctant to get a 79 for that reason. Do you plan on replacing any of the "bad" eyes on your Jess molds?
@agtakesover At this point, I'm not. I have enough dolls with the Jess face mold that have the good eyes, 5, I believe out of 8 or 9. Jess mold used to be my favourite. I don't do eye swaps. I'll keep them for now. Sometimes I need a body for a head.🫨
Don't waste time knit picking. All it does is bring unhappiness. She looks good in this video. Dress her while placing on shelf. You will find she is fine. I have a Josefina that I purchased over 20 years ago. She gives the side eye. I took her to return.....but I didn't. Purchased another Josefina while bringing Miss Side eye back home. Over the years, she has given many dolls beside her the stink eye. It is amusing. Enjoy your new doll.
It's not nitpicking - it's just noticing the details. Meaning I'm not *looking* for faults but I do see them. I don't think it necessarily brings unhappiness - I think I can be objective about it and paying attention helps me make an informed decision and really own it. Because I noticed these features, I got to think it through and decide (within AG's window of opportunity) whether or not she's a doll I'll be happy with. Ultimately, I did decide to keep her and once we did a photo shoot with her yesterday I like her. Would I be happier if her eyes had been completely level? Yes. But noticing that's not the case didn't bring unhappiness, fortunately :-)
Oh thank you! We actually came across ANOTHER #54 recently for just $50 and snagged her. A friend picked her up for us since she was a couple hours away and the seller didn't want to ship. I think the Jess mold has always had major consistency issues, but the earlier version of it is just so sweet-looking!
I prefer the older Jess mold too but my cyo has a Jess mold and hers is even but that eye shape is not usually even in real life so it kind of makes me feel better about my own face lol but that’s just me😭
I just learned people try to find perfect dolls in the store and I like the differences because it makes them have personality but that’s just me I’m normally a perfectionist. I used to do my eyeliner differently to make my eyes that are hooded look the same. I now want a doll like her because she reminds me of me😭
Yep - we're asymmetrical IRL and I think it will be a perpetual debate among collectors whether we should embrace these differences as indicative of the real world or whether we should look for as much symmetry and "perfection" as possible because they *are* dolls and not people. I am not a hard liner either way. The fact is some of the things bother me and some don't. Maddie's eyes fell into the "bothers me, but not enough to return her" category.
the audio seems pretty low for me, i can hear you but its definitely low, you should look into clip on mic for your phone those tend to be some of the better options for audio when recording with phones :)
Good idea - I was wondering that. I didn't want to record on the Yeti without it connected to my phone bc then I'd have to sync the audio perfectly with my mouth movements. But if I can just connect it that'd be great. I'll look into it :-)
I'm wearing ear buds today but I've noticed that you are still very low volume. Your audio is one of the lowest volume of the videos I watch. Usually it's not a problem unless there is a lot of other noise in the room. Congratulations on your new girl!
Thank you - I really do appreciate the feedback (especially when it's solicited lol). I have a few options I want to try over the weekend. Thankfully, today's video has no audio issues :-) And thanks for the congrats - Maddie is quickly growing on me.
I was so nervous with you opening her. I think the eyes do look a little off center and the eyelashes look a bit different too but I was really looking hard to see that. Apart from that, I think she really is beautiful but it is annoying when you pay for a head replacement and he’s not perfect :/
Thank you - everyone has been so kind here in the comments - no one has implied I'm ungrateful and I appreciate it. We did decide to keep her and I hope she grows on me more and more. We did a photo shoot with her today and that definitely helped.
Their eye shapes are different. Your 40 have bigger eyes without notches. Personally I find nothing wrong with your 54 but she is your doll and for the amount of money you paid you should be happy. I love my own 54.
Yes - 40's eyes are rounder and the notches do make 54's seem even more elongated. That part is fine - I love the shape of both of their eyes - it's more that with my 54 one is lower than the other. But yesterday after this aired yesterday we took Maddie outside for a photo shoot and it really sold me on her :-)
It's absolutely fair to be picky; they aren't cheap dolls!
I like the variations in the face molds. It gives them character.
I appreciate some differences but not all of them. I think that's probably true of most of us.
She looks great to me, especially all dressed up!
Thanks! I agree that getting out of that hospital gown and into some proper clothes helped a lot! We're gonna keep this one :-)
congratulations on your new doll she is beautiful.
@@agtakesover No I am not on IG just getting my feet wet with this whole internet thing.
I did notice the eyes. Having said that, when Maddie was dressed in the Paris outfit, she looked truly amazing. ❤
Regard's,
Lisa
She looks great! I like the new dolls eyes better than the older doll.
thanks - Do you mean you like Maddie's eyes better than Violet's?
Yeah, I'm not going to unsee it. But after sitting with it for a few days (and doing a nice photo shoot with her today) we're keeping her as is :-)
I think she’s adorable. Actual humans aren’t perfect, and I think a perfect look is what creeps people out about dolls. Perfection is unnatural.
I love the sound quality of your videos. The tone is great and not loud and overdone.
Glad to hear it! Some ppl still seem to be struggling a bit to hear it, so the search for a sound solution might continue, but *my voice* will never be jarring or overdone, hopefully - just a little more volume to the way I naturally speak ;-)
Awwww you got a 54! She’s also a dream doll of mine. Congrats on the recent adoption! 🎉
Thank you!! The same day this aired I did an outdoor photo shoot with her and she instantly started winning me over. I hope you find an amazing 54 to add to your collection!
Oh my! She's on my dream list also. ❤
I know she's not that different than Ivy (who we already have) but she IS still different and she's really such a pretty doll. I hope you get a great one!
She looked so pretty in all the outfits you put her in I get what you are saying about the eyes but I didn’t necessarily notice it once she was in the outfits.
I think that's where I'm at with her now - I still see it, but it bothers me WAY less with her hair down and when she's dressed in cute outfits.
The eyes were different sizes and not symmetrical :/
I sent her back and then bought a used one from a private seller that was perfect.
The two dolls you compared look very different to me.
Did the one you bought from a seller have replaced eyes? Or still the "bad" ones she usually comes with but just more even?
Number 54 is soooo cute I hope you end up keeping her but it makes sense if you don’t end up keeping her. Congratulations on your dream doll!!
We're going to keep her :-) We did a short outdoor photo shoot yesterday after this aired, and it sold me on her. Also, congrats on your new (to you) Grace doll!! I watched that video the other day and how kind of Kristen! She's a beautiful doll :-)
I think she looks pretty good. Such a cutie. I’m not sure a completely perfect Jess mold doll exists. That’s a tough one.
Yeah - if they exist, they're definitely elusive lol. My favorite Jess mold of our collection is still our #40, Violet. But Maddie is cute and I hope she keeps growing on me.
Is Violet named after Violet Baudelaire?
@@lisbetsoda4874 nope - just liked the name but it's a good namesake.
The 54 has more slant to her eyes than 40 does. I think 54 is darling.
Thank you! The notches on 54 add to that impression, too, I think.
I love this community so much and would love to kinda be part of it
I know what you mean but I think we have to say that like people that can’t be perfect and the differences is what will make her special ❤
This is YOUR dream doll it has to be what you want.
Thank you. I was kind of bracing myself for some "quit whining" comments but ppl have been really understanding and kind.
Yep - I'm definitely not comfortable with getting a Jess mold "sight unseen".
I think she’s beautiful! 😊
Thank you! We did a photo shoot outdoors with her yesterday after this airs and that helped me feel much happier with her.
Hello there!
She is beautiful 🤩🤩
Aww, thanks! I have really grown fond of her :-)
She is adorable@@agtakesover 🥰
My husbands teeth are off center and if I stare at them it bothers me…😂 so I make myself not look too hard and try to forget about it when it comes to mind. He does look wonderful when he smiles! I just look at the whole picture and not how his front teeth are off center 😅
I read this while in the passenger seat last night and cracked up. Poor hubs lol
The sound seems to be working good!
Thanks for the feedback - the search for a good on-camera sound solution continues ;-)
@agtakesover As long as you're happy. Enjoy your new doll.
@@shavonn923 I am - would I prefer perfectly level eyes? I would. But am I happy with her? Yes :-)
I may be crazy but I think your 54 is so cute! I almost like her face a little more than your 40, but your 40 is also adorable!
Yep, that's my next step - I just wanted something wireless if I could get away with it. Thank you for the feedback.
@@agtakesover u can get wireless ones :) the hook into the charge port and then you can have a wireless clip on too
@@lavenderopalmeadow true - I was just picturing the ubiquitous white corded ones I always see. I'll take a look at options tonight.
@@agtakesover yeah those are definitely the annoying kind for sure :) amazon have a few wireless ones from what ive seen
On the sound: you might be able to connect your yeti to your phone
@@agtakesover I’m so glad the photoshoot helped 😄
@@kristinaland me, too!
Very traumatic over a doll unpacking
??
The doll you compared mattie has the same problem
Violet is easily one of my top five dolls in our entire collection so I look right past any "imperfections" :-)
