    The raised trunk is also gonna be a nice, subtle nod to the VW enthusiast or those that don’t already know what’s underneath. It’s those little things that make builds like these so special. Very nice! 👌

    The seats are perfect and the decklid offsets and puma fan shroud is a good start! Hot rodding is using what you got, and you got the hot rod spirit and mentality!

    I love this thing, Found your channel through Build Create, and its awesome to stumble across another dude from NH keepin' it weird.
    So i've had a bunch of dumb ideas for stuff like this for years, and one of the things I've always wanted to do was put a honda goldwing H6 in the back of a Type3.
    Hear me out:
    Turn it backwards with the goldwing gearbox, and make a tubular subframe to bolt to it and also houses a small differential from an NB miata or something. Since the goldwing is shaft drive, you could run a very short driveshaft to the miata diff, or bolt a sprocket to the output shaft of the gearbox and to the input shaft of the miata diff and run a chain between them to keep it extra short.
    Now you have a complete rigid transaxle unit you can hang off the chassis and you have a high revving Flat-6 with ITBs and a sequential, that is extremely small and compact and deadly reliable.

    Those seats are the perfect pick I think for that car. It's pretty crazy to set the car set down on the frame. Looking great can't wait to watch the progress on this!

    If remember correctly, this car was called 'baby Thunderbird' in US at the time. I owned two of them in the sixties and the -63 year model even had disc brakes on the front axle which was very rare then. With a slightly bigger carburettor I could race the 1600 Porsches.. great fun.

    That shroud will fit as long as it has the offset in the back for the dual port oil cooler . You could run dual carbs also so you don’t have to worry about air cleaner clearance

    This is a nice point of this built, really getting to see it how it'll be when it's in one piece. Those seats are great, you couldn't ask for much better on general condition, colour, and proportion, they look right at home. Great to see the body down to pan level now too, still loads to go but the rough sketch is in and it looks like you're not going to have to compromise much at all cosmetically. Was wondering how you were going to tackle air intake for the rear and expected some clever underbody scoops, boot lid risers are a far simpler solution and probably a good bit more adjustable too should you need to.

    I remember having to do this with my panned ford 100e lol, it aventually had the cills on the floor only thing i did different with mine is i ran ghia pans for the width, cant wait to see this finish tho man 🤙🏻🤙🏻

    • @JohnLudwick
      @JohnLudwick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s awesome man! Yea I’ve been contemplating running Ghia pans for that same factor, but am not sure if they’ll be too wide up at the front of the SP body yet or not!

    • @Waynewiththebugz
      @Waynewiththebugz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnLudwick i think with you saying about keeping the og chassis rails you would probably be better off sticking with bug pans the ghia pans might just cause you unnecessary stress with the width i think they are atleast and 1.5 to 2 inches wider possibly a tad more on the rear corners alone, 🤙🏻🤙🏻

    Those seats look good but it's one of those things that might not work that well. They don't appear to fold forward so that would be very inconvenient later on. I guess there's the possibility you could make it so the entire seat would fold forward with a pivot on the seat track if there's enough room for that.

    • @JohnLudwick
      @JohnLudwick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I’ll end up having to make them slide up far enough. Both the Corvair and 700 have fixed-back bomber seats, so I’m used to them not reclining 😂

    Not sure what wheels your planning on, but it you did an early spyder steelie style. It would mimic the og wheel on the car. I dont know why I sceen and through of that. Just a through. Car is going to be killer.

    What kind of ground clearance do you have now as to be able to lower it even more. It sure looks like something should be hitting the ground already let alone dropping it two or more inches. Even with seventeens on it with 40 series or shorter side walls won't gain you much more height. Just curious, looks like all is going well with the build. P.S. If you need Corvair parts I know somebody.

    You can lower it to the floor from where you are now with suspension mods. I wouldnt sabotage yourself by dropping the body more than you need to.
