I was razed in New York on the East side in the early 1940s. No slushy storms then no WW2. I would take my sled to Central Park and spend the day on Pilgrims Hill riding down that wonderous place. Then drag the sled home 5 blocks to our apartment near the East River Drive. Childhood is a wonderous place.

The winters in NYC have been so mild for so many years such that real snow storms have become so rare that only these artificial images will be able to remind older NYers what heavy snow storms of the 70s, 80s, and 90s were like. The climate really has changed.

06:19 I remember being a young college kid going on a group bus trip in 2001 up to NYC---exactly three months before 9/11 in what turned out to be the first and last time I would ever see an NYC skyline with the Twin Towers in it---to see The Lion King on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theater. It blows my mind that 23 years later, it's still playing there.
I enjoy these so much my dream is one day see the big apple and Wisconsin wilderness lol . But I may not ever get to . So this at least gives me some enjoyment.
