@4:46 Actually, iirc, in Norse mythology it is said that Odin appears on the battlefield where the Vikings are destined to win, which is why the main character (Which looks like Ragnar tbh) shouted about Odin. His herald is also a crow, which isn't exactly a bird of prey I think, but still works with the bird motif for Assassins.
I wish that was Ragnar, sadly our character's name is said to be Eivor and Ubisoft has confirmed that legendary vikings will be in the game especially those in the Great Heathen Army so Ragnar's sons Bjorn, Ubbe, Hvitserk, Ivar and others I believe ragnar would be mentioned as he is the most famous Viking of all but I don't think we will see him in game
As a man of Swedish and English descent and someone who loves history and the viking age, this will be the first Assassin's creed I play. Looks phenomenal.
Valhalla is a huge Hall in Asgard (dwelling place of gods), that is ruled by Godfather Odin and where Vikings, who died with Honor in Battle (called Einherjar), get led by the Valkyries, where they drink and celebrate with others Warriors and norse Gods together. It's basically Vikings' version of "heaven". Half of the dead go to Odin, the other half to the Freyja's (goddess of love, fertility and beauty) field Fólkvangr. After several years Ubisoft finally brings my ancestors in the game. The Trailer kicks ass. I'm looking forward to the game.^^
@@ReactToTheWorld I bet they will. I'm afraid they gonna also have their own interpretation of "game as a service" and how many useless nonsens you can "collect and discover" in the game. 😅 I just hope the main story will be good, it's all I want.^^
Fun fact about Valhalla. Its said to be big enough to have 540 doors, each of which is big enough for 800 Einherjar to walk through shoulder to shoulder
So is there official lore for Valhalla? Or a book that captures the details? I always thought it was more like stories past down through generations with variants of what it's like.
If you compared what the king was saying to what the vikings were actually doing, it almost seemed like a propaganda that they just wanted to make the vikings look like the villains.
"History is written by the victors" and as such, much of it IS propaganda. Or at least whatever propaganda survived to this day. For the sake of impartiality, it's best to assume EVERYONE was a bastard and an asshole in the olden days (which they likely were, as is human nature). Sure the Vikings were bad. But the Saxons weren't any better.
the game being darker tone wise is a very deliberate thing, Ubisoft said they wanted the game to be brutal, gorey and hard hitting, the other AC games have been pretty lighthearted until now
Look at the real Viking with Ragnar Lodbrok a serie on Netflix... i Hope You can find that! I am sorry i dont know How to show You or send You a pic .... love from Sweden 🇸🇪
The god Oden has two ravens (Hugin and Munin) that he shares vision with. So basically what the ravens see, Oden sees. When the vikings saw a raven they thought the gods were watching. Some norse mythology
@@ReactToTheWorld it's ok :D, but at least you understand the basic concept of Assassin's Creed and what to expect from it. This is an issue a lot of AC fans when Odyssey came because of number of reasons :)
Skipped them. Though I did watch a lot of gameplay vids for Odyssey because of the beautiful locales. I think I'm ready to jump back into the series this time!
I would recommend giving one of those two a try, combat system changed when Origins dropped...more or less Dark Soulsesque...but if you know Dark Souls, you should be fine
@@ReactToTheWorld you did well in skipping them. They have made the games rpg and it is noway near the Assassins Creed who was before. I will skip Valhalla aswell since its not assassins creed for me.
Valhalla belong to the warriors so if you died on the battlefields Valkyries would ride in and take your soul to Valhalla where you join Odin. There you will never be sad there you meet others whom also died in the battlefield. So eat and drink and be merry basically.
The Vikings were barbarians. Did they regret Mother and baby? But they burnt their house. They killed their father. They deprived them of food. They will die of hunger
this game is gonna be a joke. The character is called Eivor. You can choose between playing female or male. But still the name will be Eivor. Eivor is a female name. They advertise the game with the male character, but still in the collectors ediotion you will get a 30 cm tall statue of Eivor as a female. And a 5 cm of the male char, the male charr that is in the trailer ahahaa. OMG
Assassin spirit lol 😂 Yap, he's the Assassin, not Odin Also remember that Gods like Odin ain't the principal ones, so... And as you can see Falcon is no more, they replaced it with a Raven.
I really didn't like this. The trailer made it look like what I can assume is king Alfred's words were lies or deceit. I hate that, he was known as "the great" for a reason, Britain were people defending their lands., same goes for France. It'd be nice if it was rather like Rogue and actually had the assassins (this time vikings) be somewhat corrupt and have your character realize that, then have conflicting feelings for either side to the point they joined the Templars (this time England) to stop them. We know the vikings (a group of "free" folk) eventually joined civilization and order after being slapped by reality- that is pretty Templar like if you ask me. They should have just gone with the flow of things and history, plus lets not forget how many fans are crying about it not being assassins creed enough anymore- this idea would save that. In short if you somehow dont know like ubisoft is somehow choosing not to- Vikings= Heavily glorified to the point they are loved, rapists, murderers, pillagers, thieves Western countries like France and England= Victims, defenders, the actual unsung heroes of this part of history Make the vikings Assassins with broken morals or deeper corruption and have England be actually good willed Templars like in rogue having to put a stop to them. This then creates a nice balance of left and right- Freedom and Order, dont tip the scales. Considering vikings died out in 1066 and the actual crusades begun in 1080's (Templars formed in 1118), this could have been a great way to show the origins of the Templars further. Christ, it gets easier by the day to be better than the designers in most of media. Or be lazy and just do another Odyssey- god knows it'll be a replica of gameplay anyways, have it so you cant have any influence on the larger overarching background war whilst you deal with underground shiz, dont make the good people bad just because modern culture deems vikings as "cool".

Doesn't main character look like tv show Vikings main character? Just a little?

It was historically accurate what he was saying though. The vikings did all that stuff to England.

The ancestors of Chris Kläfford. 😄
Odin is the all father in nordic religion. They thought he walked as a human sometime among his people.

Alfred the great king of wessex who was a brilliant war tactician defeated the danes at the battle of edington in may 878
