    One of the things I like about Tory Taylor is how far he can punt the ball and still get really good backspin on the football with aim too. The guy is an artist!

    What this is telling me, is that Poles is happy with this team. Obviously Poles values elite special teams players. We saw him get his guy velus for the return game last yr. He wanted a difference maker and we know it didnt work out now but you see the premium he's putting on these special teamers. Hes really committed to improving special teams.

    Listen to University of Iowa opponents when they talk about what Taylor did to them. I want Bears opponents to be talking about how much the punter affected the game. In a good way.

    Exactly, Swift thanks for bringing receipts. People complaining about 4th round options like the success of other position players would be a certainty when they usually aren't. Tory should earn a game ball or two this season.

    Love the pick! A coffin corner kick is a momentum changing play that can turn a game around and spell lights out at the end of the game to an opposing team. I love those plays almost as much as a Hester housecall!

    Swifty, the amount of research you do is amazing! And this video did not change my viewpoint, as it's right in line with yours. If you can pin a team 10 yd further back than they would have been, that's another first down they have to make. As always I love the channel! Keep killing it!

    I ❤ the pick as it adds 2 advantages, 1, it allows the offense the possibility of growth into a new system with scoring plays with a shorten field and learning those plays early increases the weapons can improve theur scoring techniques right away. 2, Defence has the advantage if opposing team has 80 or more yards to score & our defense can deploy schemes to confuse the offense and blitzing become a concern for that offense. Therefore the overall strategy helps the entire team in all phases! GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤

    On the other side of the punting coin, Poles is signing more safeties and linebackers for punt coverage. Too often the Bears use too many WRs and RBs on coverage, guys who don't know how to wrap up and tackle.

    @nicholasjarosch8908 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This guys a beast. We really need an upgrade in this position. Pinning the opponent deep can win games

  • @cyberlycans4191
    @cyberlycans4191 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Here's the thing, punter's may not be given much consideration when it comes to going into the Hall of Fame for example, but given the constantly changing kicking game in the NFL over the last three to five years, punting is taken on a much more significant role in the game end the game. That being said, you need to be able to pin the opponent back or flip the field with a strong leg. The Bears could have taken a defensive tackle, a defensive end, an offensive lineman with that pic, the chances are that person would have ended up buried on the depth chart. And this way this fourth round pick was utilized on a player that is going to operate at a near Pro Bowl level almost immediately and pay immediate dividends on the field. Whomever else they got in the fourth round was most likely going to end up as a practice squad player regardless of position

  • @Talbert61
    @Talbert61 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I never had a problem with the pick and once I learned who Tory Taylor was I was even more supportive. Punting is a critical factor in the game.
    How demoralizing is it to fumble and loose the ball or to take a return back for a TD?
    Pinning a team inside their own 20 increases the chances to turn the momentum in a game.

    I agree and I like the pick. What nobody is talking about is Taylor is an athlete. He came up through Aussie rules football. He is the only kicker likely now in the NFL that has size and does not back down from contact. I look for Flus to make him a weapon. He will tuck and run if he sees an opening - and THAT is half the battle of punting. The receiving team MUST prepare for the fake every time with this guy. I also hope to see a couple snot knockers with this guy running downfield if that lil fuker gets loose. McCaffey did that as well. Honestly I hope he tries a couple fakes early in September so that every team is on notice. No cheating the play and just retreating into coverage.

    I was pretty happy with the pick when I dove into his career. If you think this team is a 9-8 team, I bet he will help win at least one or two more games in crucial situations. Special teams is not a weak point on this team and while it all looks good on paper; I am totally buying in to the hype and excitement. Much more fun than gnashing your teeth looking for a Andy Dalton (for example) to somehow lead a mediocre roster to the play offs.

  • @dasuperfandisciple6684

    So let’s put this into a different perspective. So the league is geared towards favoring the offense and handicapping the defense to allow for more touchdowns here’s how you put your defense in the best position to succeed. Making teams have to drive the length of the field is a daunting task and making the offense have to drive 80-90 yards is harder than 30-40. A guy like Taylor can break the will of the offense before they even step foot on the field. Watched it countless times at Iowa and that’s how Iowa won games with the worst offense in college football history 3 years in a row. As of now our defense is our strongest unit till the offense proves otherwise and Taylor makes the defense better. Bank on it.

    Yes it’s a very underrated part of the game and has declined greatly the last 20 years or so, as far as coffin corners go. I don’t know about y’all but one my very favorite plays is when they down it on the 1… especially if a guy dives and knocks it out of the end zone.

  • @shake6321
    @shake6321 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    it’s a 4th round pick. the odds of finding a starter at high value positions is near zero and even finding a starter at low value positions like interior oline, linebacker and safety is not very good.
    if you think your punter will be an all pro it’s worth it. if he is punter 20-30 then obviously it won’t be.

    Look, at this point it's done and over with, I'm not raging against the move to draft a punter in the 4th round but I am not willing to go as far as to act as if it was a great move, dude could be the greatest punter of all time and it still wouldn't change my mind that he was drafted to high, I could see a team that is close to being complete drafting a punter that high but the Bears are not in that position just yet, I would much rather have a center like Van Fram instead of a punter, that's just me though. I still love what Poles is doing, just not this.
