If you believe in prayer or not. You were in my prayers. I knew that something was off-kilter when you did not do a video recap of the Altimers Walk. You still have the prettiest smile. I will be in Maine this summer, headed up to Camden. Love that place. I will wave as I pass Scarborough. Plan on spending some time in Arcadia. It is so good to see you back again. Oh, the glue, yes it helps mask the cracks while enhancing the spalting. Beautiful work. Welcome home.
Hi Peggy. I’m sorry you have suffered. I contacted COVID the day I was due to travel from the UK to France to visit my son for the first time in three years. Not only was I poorly but I was sick! Great bowl and thank you for sharing 🌞
100% yes on the black glue. I turn a lot of maple and I cannot count how many times I scrapped a project because of exactly the issue you elegantly solved.
I realized I hadn’t seen PF Woodturning in a while…I thought the subscription service had stopped. Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I’m glad you are healthy again and back “on the air.” Very attractive bowl; and the black CA glue does enhance its appearance.
Good evening, Peggy. Glad you are back. This maple bowl finished very nicely. I agree with others, the black Starbond was a good choice. The Acks products are easy to use and creates a gorgeous finish. Well done.
Health is more important then youtube and wood turning.i have a illness called thoracic outlet syndrome and the pain is extreme, numbing and tingling from elbow to fingers feels like you hit your funnybone but last all day.sometimes it takes weeks or months for me to get enough strength and feel good enough to finish a turning.good luck and hope you get back to full strength.
Glad to see you back Peggy and I hope your medical issues are behind you! Lovely bowl and the starbond looks great to hide the cracks, well done and thanks! Cheers Al
Glad you got it done in time I let mine go untel the hand was numb and the surgeons told me there was nothing they could do anymore so you did the right thing
So good to see you back! I hope that things are going to go a bit better health-wise. Glad you were able to take good care of yourself, even if not quite the way you would prefer.
For being only a few weeks out of surgery I’m amazed your able to turn. I had elbow surgery previously and it took me 6+ weeks before i was able to start stuff again.
Good to see you back. It took me a week or so to get over the current strain of covid, and maybe 6 weeks to get back to 100%. 2 months from now it will be like you never had it.
I was just thinking that I had not heard from you in quit a while and here it's been another month. I always enjoy your videos and hope all is well with you. Thanks!
Hope you're well on your way to a full recovery, if not already completely so. Great choice going with the black CA glue! Keep up with the beautiful work! :)
Really nice bowl, Peggy. I just finished some popcorn and filling that bowl would have been just enough. The black Starbond was the right choice. Anytime you can't match something exactly, try to contrast it. It's super great to see you healthy again and back at it. Bill
Glad to see you're back and that you're healthy I think the bowl came out wonderful wasn't even notice that the cracks were filled with the ca it looks natural to me 👍👍
Good to see your recovering well with that smile...I just finished a sugar bowl made from Norway maple with some Spalting and internal cracks...the black CA just added to it...nice turning..
Glad your back and feeling better. Love to watch your videos. I use Starbond black CA close to the final shape of the bowl. For those big cracks I leave them to dry for hours before I turn the bowl. Even though you put accelerator on the Starbond, deep in the crack the CA does not get hard. When you turn it too early, the CA comes flying out making a mess and smearing over the wood. Good call on leaving it overnight.
...yes, I noticed you were MIA...glad to see it all went well and that you're back at it!...good choice with the black glue as it turned out great! Looking forward to more pieces from you...👍
Well done. I’ve used the black Starbond. I don’t like that it takes longer to setup than the clear. So I’ve started spraying the area with accelerator, applying the glue, more accelerator, then let it sit for an hour or so. Otherwise I seem to get areas of the glue streaming out along the crack it’s supposed to be in. Then I have to do it again. But your bowl looks great. Glad you’re back.
Welcome back. I'm using a glove on my left hand. It's a little easier for me when holding the gouge. I also get a warning if my hand is too close to the turning hardware. I'm hoping it will preserve my fingers. I haven't tried black ca yet. ...Maybe next time I stock up on ca. The wood finish is not exporting to Australia... Their loss!
Hey, Peggy, Welcome back.... This piece is a gorgeous one again..... Hope you feel good after surgery. Using CA is certainly perfect for filling single cracks... If I got more cracks than wood, I use resin instead..... Love from Bavaria Steff
Glad to see you back. Nice save on the bowl. It is frustrating when I have a well prepared blank which look like it will be perfect when dry, only to see it cracking any ways. Great save!
Glad you are Back, Peg. I misused you! Hope you bot with Covid doesn't have any long term effects and you are at lease as good as new! Same goes for the carpal's tunnel. I like the Starbond on this piece, I think it adds character.
Welcome back!!!!! You’ve been missed!
Thanks, Blake! 😎

A scratch on your hand and a bit of a cold doesn't excuse a 5 week absence!!
Hope you're fully recovered. 👍

100% yes on the black glue.
I turn a lot of maple and I cannot count how many times I scrapped a project because of exactly the issue you elegantly solved.
