    To those saying "this is clearly meant for a car, not a PC!" Nope, this really was sold and marketed as a PC add-on :) Here's another look at the device:
    th-cam.com/video/fck8Sl75W-I/w-d-xo.html
    Not only was it created by Thermaltake as a desktop computer add-on, as stated both on the packaging and the websites shown in the video, but _standard vehicle head units are wider_ -- typically 7⅛" across. You can ignore their badly-Photoshopped image of the Alfa Romeo 156 center console on the packaging, which they stretched to fit the Xray and a Thermaltake Hardcano 12. twitter.com/lazygamereviews/status/1215664862577283073
    Yes, the package says it's for "car expansion accessories," but that means things like the 12V DC adapters I showed in the video. English translation was not one of Thermaltake Taiwan's strongest points and there are plenty of other awkward translations on the package, too.
    Sure, you _could_ probably install the Xray in a vehicle. But that is not what it's designed for and I am not making up its intended purpose.

      Curious how it would fare with Air compressors,heaters/kettles or something that works great on battery but usually triggers short circuit protection on an AC/DC test supply.
      I have a 12v hairdryer i can run from my power bank and a 12v kettle manufactured by the phone company (try the USB Jump-start powerbanks if you want that kind of power) or just get a small 12v battery

      If i plug in a 200w device to a battery that can barely power it it might run a few watts lower for example if it has a motor that goes slower.
      But i still get it to run!
      AC/DC devices have a bunch of safety features that would panic if such a thing happened and many 12v devices (power tools) can easily use more power than a computer under normal operation.
      I would assume the fuse would pop before any damage took place but triggering a safety feature in the power supply is a real possibility.
      You want the full truck experience?
      you need the 24 volt version i know a trucker who blew a bunch of fuses trying to use a 12v kettle in a truck that was 24v(same plug used)
      Real gamers dont pause truck simulator they pull over and cook lunch with their Roadpro 12v frying pan use their commode and empty it out the window when going down a road with few witnesses

    This was supposed to fit into the raver/gamer/music producer culture of the late 90's and early 00's. Not sure if you've seen pictures of those old huge LAN parties, but you literally got just enough space for your rig and monitor, so it would have been nice to have a cup holder for your energy drinks and bottles of water, and most of them would have been smoking menthol cigs like a chimney while they were rolling. Makes total sense back then, not so much with the modern generation of gamer.

      @DSNugent91 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @White Rice people use it as a ashtray. I decided to actually look into it as you had me intrigued, mainly because the lighter burns around the same temp as a cigarettes average burning temp. Some online reviews/commenters state they do use it as a ashtray but some do and some don't stab the butt out in it (not a great ashtray then). I'm guessing it's made from some cheap plastic but a heavy burning coil of nichrome would damage it quicker then Ash (not sure about the butt though) . You should upload a video of you stabbing a smoke out in it seems as it's already melted. Does it have a composite stamp anywhere on the thing to indicate the plastic type the holder/frame is made from?. I couldn't find a material list for it but found a guy who modded his with a cigar prop to hold his cigars 🤣.
