- Dr. Vandana Shiva is trained as a Physicist and did her Ph.D. on the subject “Hidden Variables and Non-locality in Quantum Theory” from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She later shifted to inter-disciplinary research in science, technology and environmental policy, which she carried out at the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore. In 1982, she founded an independent institute, the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology in Dehra Dun dedicated to high quality and independent research to address the most significant ecological and social issues of our times, in close partnership with local communities and social movements. In 1991, she founded Navdanya, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, especially native seed, the promotion of organic farming and fair trade. In 2004 she started Bija Vidyapeeth, an international college for sustainable living in Doon Valley in collaboration with Schumacher College, U.K.Dr. Shiva combines the sharp intellectual enquiry with courageous activism. Time Magazine identified Dr. Shiva as an environmental “hero” in 2003 and Asia Week has called her one of the five most powerful communicators of Asia.Forbes magazine in November 2010 has identified Dr. Vandana Shiva as one of the top Seven most Powerful Women on the Globe. Dr. Shiva has received honorary Doctorates from University of Paris, University of Western Ontario, University of Oslo and Connecticut College, University of Guelph.Among her many awards are the Alternative Nobel Prize (Right Livelihood Award, 1993), Order of the Golden Ark, Global 500 Award of UN and Earth Day International Award. Lennon ONO grant for peace award by Yoko Ono in 2009, Sydney Peace Prize in 2010, Doshi Bridgebuilder Award, Calgary Peace Prize and Thomas Merton Award in the year 2011,the Fukuoka Award and The Prism of Reason Award in 2012, the Grifone d’Argento prize 2016 and The MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2016, Veerangana Award 2018, The Sanctuary Wildlife Award 2018 and International Environment Summit & Award 2018.

And Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai of MIT, who is saying the same things in Massachusetts & running for Senator just delivered about 110, 000 signatures petitioning for Fauci to be fired a few weeks ago this month to the RNC to hand to President Trump! (The White House was closed to receiving packages.). He had also written to the President regarding what was needed to keep people safe so their immune systems would be built up & that ventilators may worsen certain conditions! And he does know that his letter was received.

Why say she's the wisest and most brilliant? Why compare people? Don't you see that's exactly part of the problem she's pointing out? The cartesian idea that we can observe reality as a fragmented event and use/abuse it's "parts", compare them and derive conclusion from this. When you say someone is the wisest, you are limiting that person to what you consider wisdom that you saw in other people, it's not a compliment, quite the opposite, it's putting someone in a box.

J'ai appris à lire et à écrire à l'âge de 12 ans dans les journaux, non pas à cause du manque de manuels, mais parce qu'ils n'ont pas éveillé en moi l'envie d'apprendre à lire et au Brésil dans les années 80 et 90 il y avait peu d'initiatives de lecture comme ceci tel qu'il est aujourd'hui. J'ai appris à lire dans les journaux que j'ai pris auprès du syndicat des travailleurs ruraux de la petite ville de Barro dans l'État du Ceará et depuis 2019, j'ai développé le projet de lecture Mission Rural Connection avec l'idée de prendre la lecture physique du livre à les endroits les plus éloignés des petits aux grands centres urbains du Brésil. Le projet n'a pas de fonds financier propre et travaille avec l'aide de personnes qui donnent des livres et d'autres matériaux essentiels pour mener des activités dans les communautés où je le fais sur une base volontaire, en acquérant simplement de l'expérience et en prenant l'importance de valoriser la culture. de physicien de lecture de livre. Je ne suis pas contre les plateformes numériques spécialisées dans la lecture numérique, que je trouve même de manière très démocratique dans un pays comme le Brésil où l'État ne garantit pas la lecture littéraire pour les particuliers, mais pour les étudiants des établissements d'enseignement du système éducatif brésilien.
Voici une présentation d'un Brésilien du nord-est de 31 ans qui met en lumière la situation du déficit de lecteurs dans notre pays. C'est une réalité plus triste dans la région du Nord-Est où le taux d'analphabétisme est élevé dans tous les groupes d'âge et l'alphabétisation fonctionnelle dans laquelle l'individu lit mais ne comprend pas le sens du texte lu. C'est pourquoi j'expose ici et demande de toute urgence aux frères de solidarité un seul syndicat de renforcer le projet de lecture de la mission de connexion rurale afin qu'il puisse fonctionner pleinement et permettre l'accès au livre aux personnes les plus nécessiteuses du Brésil avec une aide financière et un don de livres dans toutes les langues, même pour renforcer et diffuser la mondialisation de l’apprentissage idiomatique.

I love Dr Shiva and I only recently discovered her -- like Columbus discovered America- but I wish that more people knew about the words she says. I will say, when I was very young, having just finished college at age 21 and traveling with my little sister in Europe-- which was about the time doctor Shiva was beginning her studies in quantum physics-- I said to my little sister: "THE weather here is crazy. IT'S not doing what it's supposed to be doing at this time of year!" Strange that more than half a century later I remember that remark I made to my lil' sister and I only remember things that are profound and that was profound because even then, before Dr Shiva began delving into these studies, there was chaos in the weather, although not as extreme as has occurred more recently as it increases exponentially due to our inability to change how we conduct our lives as a global world, most especially speaking of course of the developed world but also the developing world as it follows suit.
I also have an even earlier memory when I was 12 years old and in the car with my little friend, Lynn Lopz, from across the street and her dad who was a pretty big wig in some company. He was saying how they had trouble with the air inside the offices. And I said-- as I like all the kids in my family were raised to be rather precocious and and speak if we had an idea -- maybe you could put plants inside the offices? MORE important than my comment-- which was just something I had learned in biology in sixth grade-- he said to me: " THAT'S a good idea."
I've never forgotten that confirmation of my "small" idea because I guess it was a GOOD idea and I'm realizing now it is the ONLY idea and if it had been enacted around the world when I was 12 years old, we would NOT be in the mess we are now as a global community, galloping🐎toward the Extinction-- not of the world per se-- but of ourselves-- the human race, homosapiens, human beings.
IN Hawaii-- which has very diverse flora & fauna-- the extinction of many species occurs every day which saddened me when I first heard that fact. WE will simply be ONE MORE species added to the long list of species going extinct. IT'S not that far away because as doctor Shiva says, it is not linear; not vertical; not horizontal; it's chaotic and uncontrollable. AS it stands now, it is out of our control unless we figure out some very cogent, brilliant ideas-- more than recycling and trading carbon dioxide credits for the big corporations.

In 1999, ten thousand people were killed and millions were left homeless when a cyclone hit India's eastern coastal state of Orissa. When the U.S. government dispatched grain and soy to help feed the desperate victims, Shiva held a news conference in New Delhi and said that the donation was proof that "the United States has been using the Orissa victims as guinea pigs" for genetically-engineered products, although she made no mention about that those same products are approved and consumed in the United States. She also wrote to the international relief agency Oxfam to say that she hoped it wasn't planning to send genetically modified foods to feed the starving survivors."[10]
Cases of plagiarism have been pointed out against Vandana Shiva. Birendra Nayak has published on her plagiarism involving copying verbatim from a 1996 article in Voice Gopalpur in her 1998 book Stronger than Steel.[51] Several paragraphs of an article by S Faizi on the Plachimada/Coca-Cola issue published in The Statesman in 2015 were plagiarized by Vandana Shiva in an article she published a year later.[52]
Journalist Keith Kloor, in an article published in Discover on 23 October 2014 entitled "The Rich Allure of a Peasant Champion", revealed that Shiva charges US$40,000 per speaking lecture, plus a business-class air ticket from New Delhi. Kloor wrote: "She is often heralded as a tireless 'defender of the poor,' someone who has courageously taken her stand among the peasant farmers of India. The leaked IB report raises concerns over the foreign-funding of Indian NGOs whose campaigning activities, the report claims, are hampering India's growth and development. In its report, the IB said that Indian NGOs, including Navdanya, receive money from foreign donors under the 'charitable garb' of campaigning for human rights or women's equality, but instead use the money for nefarious purposes. "These foreign donors lead local NGOs to provide field reports which are used to build a record against India and serve as tools for the strategic foreign policy interests of the Western governments," the IB report states.[48]
Investigative journalist Michael Specter, in an article in The New Yorker on 25 August 2014 entitled "Seeds of Doubt",[10] raised concerns over a number of Shiva's claims regarding GMOs and some of her campaigning methods. He wrote: "Shiva's absolutism about G.M.O.s can lead her in strange directions. In 1999, ten thousand people were killed and millions were left homeless when a cyclone hit India's eastern coastal state of Orissa. When the U.S. government dispatched grain and soy to help feed the desperate victims, Shiva held a news conference in New Delhi and said that the donation was proof that "the United States has been using the Orissa victims as guinea pigs" for genetically-engineered products, although she made no mention about that those same products are approved and consumed in the United States. She also wrote to the international relief agency Oxfam to say that she hoped it wasn't planning to send genetically modified foods to feed the starving survivors."[10]
Cases of plagiarism have been pointed out against Vandana Shiva. Birendra Nayak has published on her plagiarism involving copying verbatim from a 1996 article in Voice Gopalpur in her 1998 book Stronger than Steel.[51] Several paragraphs of an article by S Faizi on the Plachimada/Coca-Cola issue published in The Statesman in 2015 were plagiarized by Vandana Shiva in an article she published a year later.[52]
Journalist Keith Kloor, in an article published in Discover on 23 October 2014 entitled "The Rich Allure of a Peasant Champion", revealed that Shiva charges US$40,000 per speaking lecture, plus a business-class air ticket from New Delhi. Kloor wrote: "She is often heralded as a tireless 'defender of the poor,' someone who has courageously taken her stand among the peasant farmers of India. Obviously the establishment will do EVERYTHING it's available to try and discredit her work. These kind of accusations you've pointed out mean nothing to me; I care about acts, not words. And she is a revolutionary job.

They know she has NO qualifications in any biology related field. Up until now, I used to hear the phrase "children are the future" and it always seemed trite and without context, so therefore meaningless. Hearing the opener by Vaissnavi, paying respects to the land that they are on, was my 'Eureka' moment, when that phrase suddenly made sense - the youth and young adults of today realise they do not have to live by or with the mistakes earlier generations have made and they know they CAN and WANT to and WILL do better.
There are quite a few omissions and mistakes in the subtitles. Would be good if they could be improved for people who need them
