She has been recognized for her contributions in the fields of women and the environment, biotechnology and intellectual property rights, and ecological issues related to agriculture.
Dr. Shiva is one of the leaders and board members of the International Forum on Globalization and a figure in the global solidarity movement, which she refers to as the Earth Democracy movement. Trained as a physicist before shifting to interdisciplinary research in science, technology and environmental policy, she received her PhD in the foundations of quantum theory at the University of Western Ontario. Currently based in Delhi and Dehra Dun, India, she has authored over 20 books, including The Violence of Green Revolution and Monocultures of the Mind.
    About the Masterclass:
This online Masterclass connected a small group of Faculty of Land and Food Systems students with Dr. Vandana Shiva to discuss creative solutions to real-world problems.

Especially at the beginning I get the impression that some of these people still look at this „pandemic“ like the proverbial mouse looks at the snake while it is a minor thing once you take off the hype which is causing the real damage. The REAL problem is the „War against life“ which comprises hundreds of problems being hidden by this strange fascination with Covid-19. To be continued

Dr Vandana Shiva has a deep love for the Earth and the way love provides life. One seed feeds many so to ado/protect/care for this seed provides love and life back. The soil must be respected as much life is in the soil. Check out her “soil not oil” to actually witness her words and acts of love for all life. She’s a precious soul herself.

I have been a seed saver for decades, and mourn for the farmers in India who committed suicide after being sold GMO seeds, to their destruction. My only negative on all this is PLEASE Dr. Shiva, don’t join the racists on the Left who spew hate for “white” people. Most of us in America who champion your cause are “white-although I don’t believe such a color exists in all of humanity. And evils such as slavery were not performed solely by “whites.” We are all children of God, and need to stop referring to one another by color. The animosity caused prevents people from working together in common and important causes.

@@popeyegordon A few points to note, given the fact that back in 2016 Monsanto where officially stated as the biggest owner of global seed, alot of what she says is right.
      2) You can always tell alot about an article and the agenda of the author behind it, In the terminology they use to dehumaise and discredit someone, cartel and radical environmentalist to name a few.
      3) Has he an actually figure to represent the 95%, its easy to fire out a high percentage to underpin your argument. Anything I've watched or read, it seems she has so much support but I agree she has am agenda but I believe to be wholesome.
      4) Bill Gates is now the biggest owner of US farmland owning 30% GMOs are not good for consumption, a guy in California take the state to court of Monsanto chemicals causing his cancer, of I remember he won but must double check.
      4) Gates has money, he has Influence and can control the narrative and I feel he is behind a sheer campaign due to her supreme court battle with Monsanto.
I would listen to science and like to see all sides, Gates is mascarading as this great white Knight and he and the tech companies are behind the farming crisis in India. Anyone can write and article but where is facts to back it up?

I think what needs to happen is a balance between farmers, droins and other technologies. Farmers are there to provide experience and traditional practices that yield more crops and edible food. Technology can make it happen more efficiently but without replacing farmers, but enhance and enrich farmers. So unfortunate people view technology as the enemy when in reality the monetary-market system is the true enemy of everyone at the moment. All of this sorrow and sufferings is due to relying a system that focuses on just profits, so the problem isn't Bill gates and his friends like Monsanto, Amazon and Google, etc... it is the very system that forces people to become that. Replace an economic system that actually benefits the survival of the human species and you'll see a lot of our modern day problems be solved in a matter of days or weeks. It is all interconnected as Dr. Shiva says, but she isn't looking at the even bigger picture here... that it is the very monetary-market system that is the problem and it needs to be replaced with a resource-based economic system. However, the masters of the world don't want that... the masters of the world are a bunch of socio-psychopaths that take pride and joy in seeing others struggle and suffer. It really is depressing, because without knowing it those masters will eventually go down with the rest of us, because that is how the system works... eventually everyone will be replaced by automation, because that is inevitable. It is going to happen. What needs to be done is to which from a broken, faulty, inhumane, outdated economic system that does not or could never work well in an automated society. The Monetary-market system needs to change or we will see a scale of genocide in a massive biblical proportion that will lead to the extinction of our species... all due to sheer stupidity, egoism and greed.
I highly recommend watching interviews of Jacque Fresco and The Venus Project for better solutions of our current problems.

From UK: Soil has a huge part to play in the climate crisis. It is the best convertor of CO2 that exists on the planet today. Since the industrial revolution we have destroyed almost half the soil on the land. It converts CO2 into plant material. Useful to us as food! The destruction has been driven by ignorance, greed, poverty and in recent years Agribusiness which has added poisons to the destructive mix, now poisoning our rivers, and seas and even us as well as the life of the planet. Regenerative farming can restore the soil. There are many small scale projects around the world, but that needs to happen with a proper green revolution with a restoration of the soil worldwide. That cannot happen under cop-it-all-ism!
