Oh i agree it's better than dark fate. But it wasn't a great anime. I know all terminator movies have inconsistencies. But this one just opened up the worm hole to endless possibilities. But this anime definitely disregards almost every movie after 2. Shoot, even 1 technically

Firstly, it's a T-800 variant. Not exactly like the original Terminator model. We also know that it is also from a deeper future timeline as Skynet has "made a deal" with humanity (if the Terminator can be believed). Due to this we don't know exactly what additional protocols (especially regarding specific humans) it was given due to this.
But regardless, we still dont know exactly in what ways it is different yet. Is it made of lighter materials? and therefore designed to be able to run and jump unlike the original T-800's? Is its frame or internal mechanisms different or altered in some way? We just don't know. However, we do know that at least programming wise it is more sophisticated and definitely does not have its "learning computer chip" turned off like Arnold in T2... as it can constantly adapt to changing situations as they happen quickly and efficiently.
Secondly, it does not take place during the Terminator 3 timeline. That timeline was moved forwards into the future due to the events of Terminator 2. This series is taking place in the few days before the ORIGINAL Judgement Day (the one that Kyle Reece remembers when he talks to Sarah Connor about it in T1). Meaning that this timeline has not yet been effected by what Sarah and John did when they later blew up Cyberdyne.
Thirdly, in the original Terminator movie. The Terminator shows up at Sarah's house but she isn't there and gets into a scuffle with Sarah's house mates boyfriend. In that fight he not only lasts for a bit fighting hand to hand with the Terminator, but at one point the boyfriend actually charges his legs and manages to lift him up off the ground and backwards off his feet successfully. Only dying soon after. Sure he didn't last long, but he did manage to give him trouble. Regardless of what you think, it did happen and it is canon.
I actually really liked the series for multiple reasons. Except for 3 things.
    1) At the beginning (the scene in future post apocalypse) multiple times the Terminator seemed to be too inaccurate with his gun for no obvious reason when he had a reasonably clear line of sight.
    2) When she went off the bridge in the truck and somehow managed to go out the window, run up the top of the truck and jump to grab onto the edge of the bridge all after the truck was already falling (which is impossible).
And 3) What you guys are talking about. The 2 scenes where she is taking on the Terminator hand to hand didn't feel right. Especially the one where she is holding him and getting smashed in the back repeatedly. She should have died pretty damn quick. It didn't make sense.
Initially I thought that she might be some kind of cyborg, with some mechanical parts mixed in and that perhaps that is why she was chosen for the mission. But by the end that seemed to not be the case.
But at the end a new possibility occured to me.
If the Terminator is telling the truth and it was sent into the past by the kid, then very likely his future self would have insisted on certain protocols being added to it's programming before being sent back in time. Which is likely why it couldn't kill him or his brothers and sisters. I believe the reason that the Terminator changed it's mission parameters after threatening his father that he would kill the boy if he didn't open the door, was because he literally couldn't. His programming wouldn't allow it.
If that is the case, then it is more than possible that his grandmother would have been included in that "no kill" order, maybe even in the future (which is perhaps why he was so inaccurate). He could hit her in order to achieve his mission, but not kill her. After all, if she dies at her current age, he will never be born. If you think about it, this actually kind of fits. His father could be killed because at that point he had already been born, but his younger grandmother couldn't because she hasn't given birth to his father yet. His future older self would know this.
Although, that doesn't explain why the grandmother thought she could fight it hand to hand in the first place. She's from the future, she knows what a Terminator is and what it is capable of, so she should know that fighting hand to hand with one without any kind of enhancements is virtually useless and complete suicide. That (at this point) does seem to be an error. Unless she is actually enhanced in some way that will be revealed in season 2.
Anyway, just thought you guys might want to know.

I'm a fan of Terminator. I've seen all the movies and I know the messed up convoluted mess the writers put themselves in when building on this universe. While I liked the first episode of the show, I quickly got annoyed with the kids and Misaki on basically how useless they were and annoying. They almost had no purpose other than to create a stupid, annoying, time wasting B plot to distract from the main interesting A plot of the story. Eventually, they all finally reunited together. But this could have been much more interesting and important than what it ended out to be. I didn't need to see annoying kids dealing with life, complaining, fighting with each other, and not knowing what to do when they kinda matter very little to the overal story and taking literally like 6 out if the 8 episodes to finally reunite together just to finish explaining everything in episode 7 and 8. I personally liked the concept of basically taking the Marvel approach to time travel in where they create a new future or new universe. This explains perfectly all the terminator films and the constant time travel inconsistancies and the endless battle of Skynet and the Humans in almost every single timeline or in this case universe. Judgment day seems to be that one point in time that can't be prevented only delayed. Making Skynet inevitable. The only solution would be to fight the war and win it within that timeline/universe. While I do agree that there are some inconsistancies with a max 180 pound woman being able to hold a 400 pound Terminator and being able to take those punches thst would basically kill any person, that my friend is called plot armor 🤣🤣🤣🤣 if it was realistic she would have been dead a long time ago but im willing to suspend my level of disbelief for the sake of trying to understand what the plot was about🤣 but I agree that if it was consistant with the lore and everything, aint no way that woman would have held on to a terminator like or even kick him to knock him off balance or even hold on to him. But it is os what it is. I'd give the show a good 7.5/10 just because it created a newer concept of a the same plot we are used to seeing in Terminator and it was a fun and exciting Anime. Definitely worth watching for plot purpose and the concepts of it.

I didn’t like the scenes of her fighting a terminator hand to hand, but then I remembered this is an anime and that’s exactly the kind of shit I signed up for when I decided to watch the series. There are a few moments in the action scenes where characters that are supposed to be regular humans do things that are beyond what a person should do, but not beyond what your average anime protagonist can do, and so I gave it a pass on that because I found the story and characters quite good. The action scenes also drastically improve by the end of the season.

oh yea, the action scenes are top notch. yeah, if you overlook the movies and only look at it as an anime then yeah it's highly enjoyable. but we think if this series is canon to the movies (the creator state it is) then they had an established set of rules to follow in the Terminator world. but again, as an anime, it was fun

Just finished the season today. It's decent. There's the typical plot holes you find in all the Terminator movies, like the T800 is efficient and precise unless it's up against plot armor. The writer seemed to want to add some existential criticisms about the human race, from the viewpoint of AI, which was ok. Gave me something to think about for a minute. I think it was good. Some flaws, sure. But nothing like we've seen before. And a T800 can run and jump. Not sure why this dude thinks they can't. There was some filler that could've been trimmed, but the series was a net positive. Check it out for yourself

    • @theESEfiles
      @theESEfiles  หลายเดือนก่อน

jump to 12:57 regarding to the running and jumping
if there is a season 2, they can easily create a fix to our complaint about it by confirming a different T800 model. but yeah, we agree the precision was way off. it was borderline storm trooper bad. otherwise, the story was thought provoking and was a fresh face lift on the story

@theESEfiles I think if it were a live action show with the same exact plot, it would be universally trashed. The only way this show can get away with using every unliked trope of the hated movies is by being an anime. IMO, this is just blind loyalty to the medium of anime. Music was tight, though.

@@theESEfiles Originally the idea was that the T-1000 arrives in like a living flesh cocoon sack and then tore his way out of it.
They didn't end up going with that because 1) They wanted the reveal that he was a Terminator not to be revealed to the audience that early (which is a little pointless because apparently they revealed that in the trailers before release) and 2) Then why couldn't Skynet send back all kinds of advanced weaponry and technology in "the sack" as well?
