My bushcraft pack has: silky gomboy, baco Laplander, grandfors bruks small forest axe, mora companion, fällkniven a1 pro and it actually a pretty good set up. Btw great video guys
Just picked up a Gomboy 270. I love it. Already sawed a five inch limb and it LOVED it. Reminds me of the traditional Japanese woodworking saws I learned to use for dutchmanning holes in old wood.
Dutch Bushcraft Knives When you guys get big enough, you should take this show on the road and go visit other survival/bush crafting youtubers. Seriously.
I just purchased the Silky gomboy 240 and am waiting for it to arrive to cut some camping firewood with it! Thanks for the review, noe W I know I got the right saw!
Very good test you guys, thorough and fun. These Silkys aren't as expensive as I thought they would be, the Gomboy models go for a little over $30 usd. Great video, you sold me on them!
Nice video...It! Seems that a folding saw is much useful than a chopper? Silky saw and a companion knife will be sufficient for fire making. Any thoughts?
I own a Silky Bigboy myself (great saw) and wrecked the teeth ones with a pesky hidden nail in some old lumber. 2/3th of the teeth were rounded over, wich usualy means getting a replacement blade. I found however, that with a EZE LAP diamond sharpening file kit, you can actualy resharpen the hardened teeth on a Silky quite well. Normal files will dull on a Silky blade, but with diamond there's no problem, since it sharpens everything. A couple of EZE LAP sharpening files are usualy less expensive than replacement blades, so perhaps usefull to keep in mind. These things run about 8 euro's a piece
i have a Mini Mini-2 wood 150-24 for home/allround use. i'm very pleased with my Silky. I am sure those Sikys you guys shoved today would kick my Lapplander out of my bag. ;)
Say Heah Dutch, I Scout alot, So compact is important to me, especially when I run into some brambles or rough brush, Here in the States, Wicked Tree Gear makes the Wicked Tough Saw, I have the Combo, In the sheath I can carry it in the opened position, which is very handy when building while setting up, or just making shooting lanes, But it's a little stiffer and it doesn't bind as easy, yet I can lite chop with it, It's that tough.
+smokin Joe Nope, I haven't tried fiskars yet but I know the saw from other videos. Maybe, in the future I could make a comparison video of all popular brands but that should take a while.
I saw on "virtuiovice" channel, Dr. Waco in Japan, uses a Silky, so I got the medium 8" I think. Works great...Hey I want to get a good quality Puukko, so you have so many, help me out and tell the world which one you think is the best, strongest, best steel, etc. etc. etc. Thx..........
+Randall Kelley if you really want a good puukko I'd recommend you to check out Malanikapuukko. All his knives are great. Cpm cruwear seems to be one of the best choices
I feel good by choosing the Gomboy 210-10 today. On the same order is a Zubat 330-10 which also has good review. Thanks for the review. Do you happen to know why there is a oval hole in the middle of the blade? Bedankt.
Great video but I think test should be with 2 saws with equal length blades. If you used 2 Silky saws with different lengths the shorter version will always finish last.
+Craig Ruby yes this is true. The silky saw had a part with no teeth at the beginning though. The difference in cutting length between these saws is only about 1 or 2 cm. So even if you would lengthen that Henk Jan saw by 1 or 2 cm it would have definitely lost by a large margin still. Thanks for the comment!
Say Heah M&M, Yeah, I still like my Wicked Tough Saw. But I'm trying a little different twist. I teamed up my Bokor Aparro with my Mora Garberg. I also think I'm going to add my Mora Eldris with this carry of knive. The twist is, I just got a new saw its my Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal Saw. So with these tools, I'm foregoing a Hatchet. Yeah, I got the Crazy Horse LeatgerSheath that has a compartment to carry an extra saw blade. Don't get me wrong, I like Silky Saws, Infact I have a BigBoy2000 with the Sheath. But I also found out a new Folding Saw made by EZ KUT but I haven't used mine yet but it seems very promising. Yeah, check'em out.,,.
Silky is good, but make sure to get the right teeth coarseness for the type of wood you want to cut. Get fine for hardwood, get course for softwood. I have medium, TBH it can cut both but neither very well.
Bahco is by no means een slechte zaag hoor ;) Tot slot is er natuurlijk persoonlijke voorkeur. Alvast een fijn weekend!
You should have switched saws with each other on the first test. Because it’s possible that the reason why one was faster than the other might be due to the person… not the saw
+Jondoe Harris can you imagine what a burden it is for him to allways looks blazed! He deserves it though, he makes maartens life miserable. It balances eachother out.
Silky tools for bushcraft are number 1. I put a curved saw blade on my Gomboy and it works faster. My kids can use it with ease. Just got a silky nata and now I don’t need to use a heavy hatchet.
i use the super accel for pruning trees, they are made for fresh, living wood and work way better on that, i would not recommend it on bigger pieces, the katana boy is for professional use pointless since a good chainsaw is at least 10 times faster. anyways silky makes very good handsaws.
DeathMetal242 do you want to carry a heavy ass saw out into the sticks as well as a gas can, a bar wrench, and some bar oil, spend 15 minutes prepping, then cut the tree or limb, and have to pack all that shit back? Hell to the no.
Say Heah M&M, There's a new kid on the block. You want fast. Try the WoW Folding Saw. Once you get in the rhythm, Since it only cuts on the pull, It just Zip, Boom, Bombs right through wood. Seriously, It's the fastest saw I have.,. p
Looking back at when two youngsters reviewed a Silky saw. This is GOLD!
Watching old stock 6 years you guys have changed some.
Used the same saw 8 yrs, broke the tip off about an inch, but still the best little saw I've found. Retired Forest Service trail guy.
Best friends share even an uniform. One is wearing a jacket, the other one is wearing trousers. 😂
hahahaha It has taken almost a year for someone to notice that!

I have the Pocketboy 170 and the Gomboy 270. Both are great saws.
Man, how they've change since then haha
2018 ✌🏼
You guys are awesome!!! Never change!
This is crazy!!! I didn't know that anyone made a saw this good.
Best review of the Silky I have seen yet. Great video review
thank you so much David!
I just purchased the Silky gomboy 240 and am waiting for it to arrive to cut some camping firewood with it! Thanks for the review, noe
W I know I got the right saw!
Thanks for the review. I'm sold!!
Enjoyed this video. The Silky Gomboy is very impressive. I may add it to my Silky collection.
Dang...your charisma has gone through the roof since 2016, lol.
Very good test you guys, thorough and fun. These Silkys aren't as expensive as I thought they would be, the Gomboy models go for a little over $30 usd. Great video, you sold me on them!
+BirdShot IV thats a better bargain than here in Europe! $30,- is absolutely worth it!
thanks for the comment my friend!
Which saw did you guys use to cut your hair?
Hot damn, Mikkie was rocking the K-Pop cut back in 2016
"For hard wood you would prefer the fine teeth"- DBK, 2016
;)
I love silky saws I own the f180 a bigboy and the Katanaboy
You guys have come so far 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 always excellent.
great video guys, if you still have it could you please test its cutting ability on large bone? a handy feature for my carry saw.
Nice video...It! Seems that a folding saw is much useful than a chopper? Silky saw and a companion knife will be sufficient for fire making. Any thoughts?
You guys are great! Enjoyed the review.
thanks a lot Matthew!

Is the DBK intro a full song? I always thought you guys just came up with that little piece...
i have a Mini Mini-2 wood 150-24 for home/allround use. i'm very pleased with my Silky. I am sure those Sikys you guys shoved today would kick my Lapplander out of my bag. ;)
+Jörgen Sandström Laplander makes good saws but man these silky's just blew me away. Thanks for the comment mate!
+Dutch Bushcraft Knives yeah! Have a Lapplander as well. Thanks guys! :)
Nice work boys! That is one wicked looking saw for sure!
+UrbanSuburban thank you very much! cheers.

Mikke is such a dork. 2019✌️
QUALITY speaks for itself!
Cool that you got Liam Gallagher to help you demonstrate the Gomboy.
nice tests. have you tried the pocketsaw from fiskars ?
i have the longer one which is as long as the silky. I think they perform pretty similar.
+smokin Joe Nope, I haven't tried fiskars yet but I know the saw from other videos. Maybe, in the future I could make a comparison video of all popular brands but that should take a while.
Love those hair cuts!

so im happy that at the end you have a sponsor ;)
we got the saw for this video but they are no sponsors. We don't want anything forced on us so we try to keep it that way
Dutch Bushcraft Knives that means you don't care about money, the others do. my respects...
I was brushing my teeth while watching this now I cut my teeth off
What's up met dat Beatles kapsel? Goed review
I bought Gunboy 210 before Ihad seen this, and had right choice.
What sheath is that or where did you get it? Nice video's!
I got mine from virtuovice as a gift
is this better than the Bahco laplander
Dorks!! Another great video.
+guitim24 haha cheers mate
I feel good by choosing the Gomboy 210-10 today. On the same order is a Zubat 330-10 which also has good review. Thanks for the review. Do you happen to know why there is a oval hole in the middle of the blade?
Bedankt.
Thanks a lot!
The oval hole is a mystery for us as well! maybe it's there to add flexibility?
I have a Tajima G-Saw, it is also japanese and looks like the Silky Gomboy, but it is only half the price of the Silky.
I first had the 210. Now the 270... sadly the handle it different and it does NOT come with a hard case.
But the 270 is a beast
.....good job brothers...Gomboy it is.....
thanks a lot BoB!
At 8:25 anyone knows how this is called and where to buy it?
a vice.
Well done.
I’ve never seen someone that needs a haircut as bad as Mickey in this video
Its almost magicall!

I finally get to hear the full version of your theme intro song 😂 I love it so much hahaha. What's the name of the song if I may ask
Syazamm darude sandstorm

He looks like Bellamy Blake from the 100
jason fucking Jean Abit
Did not know gym leader Volkner is into bushcraft.
Hahahhhhhahaa
What is the locking mechanism?
it locks a steel pin into a small gap. Don't know it's name but it works damn good haha
Waar gaan jullie bushcraften in NL?

Even watched it twice lol
where can i buy schrade knives in belgium
Lars Vervaele You don't want a schrade knife.
Silky is good, but make sure to get the right teeth coarseness for the type of wood you want to cut. Get fine for hardwood, get course for softwood. I have medium, TBH it can cut both but neither very well.
Ya mine is 170mm! and it has that cool clear plastic holder thingie...ya
Great video, thank you :-)
awesome review guys! :)
8:57 voelde heel even een skirre henkie momentje aankomen maar nee.... Waarom?!😭😭😭
You guys looked so different back then.

Road clearing and cycling? maybe if making new trails...
really high is right ! decent review on the silky, but stoner boy not required.
I love Japan. Silky. Sillllky. Siiiiilllky. Or as they say in Japan: Siruki
We love it too! very much!
Mmmm. . .Silky silky

You guys were so much younger then than now.
so were you! hehe....
@@malthus101 Goes for you as well.Hahaha
Nice Corona pandemic hair style... 3 years before the pandemic started. 🤣
Awesome!
I use folding saw for my work.
I think the best folding saw is “Tajima G-saw” in the world.
Why don’t you try it.
It looks a lot like silky!
That is not Rod Stewart is it?
nah just a rip-off
Bro Mikkie looks like Minato... SO MUCH !! 😂😂

Hey blond guy you got to be very deliberate and confident in what you say and look at the camera both of you
i use the super accel for pruning trees, they are made for fresh, living wood and work way better on that, i would not

Mickey i am sorry but your hair is just like HULK from 1988...
Please dont be angry😉
Your hair NOW is much better👍
Silky smooth....
should have tested against the raining champ . Bahco
You guys were so cute back then.
The first thing that came on my mind is “High”......high
nice
Made it with woodPrix today
Say Heah M&M, There's a new kid on the block. You want fast. Try the WoW Folding Saw. Once you get in the rhythm, Since it only cuts on the pull, It just Zip, Boom, Bombs right through wood. Seriously, It's the fastest saw I have.,. p
Wow, you guys were terrible. How did you get to where you are now?
The guy in blue looks like sasha baron cohen (or whatever)
In the movie when his brother (mark strong) is a Spy
A Corona folding saw will give you 95% of the performance of a Silky saw for 1/3 the cost.
Poor Mickie had to use the other saw the whole time haha
ah well. it was a good training for him hehe :)
Mickey looks like Nancy Grace here
