Superfriends!! Hilarious today but back when I was a kid it was super cool. And I have always loved Scooby Doo!!
Scooby Doo is such a classic! We raised our daughter on it as well, and she loved it too! When she was little, she taped a quarter to a string and started waving it around to try and hypnotize me, LOL!! I asked her where she learned that, and of course it was Scooby Doo! 😂
Schoolhouse Rock got me through the Constitution Test!
Yes!! Very educational (and entertaining!)
I love Sunday morning cartoons
I grew up in Austria and I had the opportunity to reach sky channel from London via cable-program. On Saturdy morning I watched "Fun Factory". My favorite series was "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" ,"She-ra - Princess of Power" and "Jem and the Hologrames".
No surprise there... still your favorites, right?!
Right!
I could adress a TON of things mentioned in this video.
But,as a cartoonist by nature, but not by profession,I will limit it to Saturday morning cartoons.
Here’s the thing.
You had classic staples like Scoob, and Bugs Bunny, and Tom and Jerry (legends, all),but the massive competition between the 3 networks, gave rise to the 8 PM Saturday morning cartoon preview specials of the new season of upcoming toons!
This was a HUGE deal.
If you showed up to school, and weren’t in ‘the know’ about the latest stash of sugar cereal fueled toons, you might as well have shown up with a paper bag over your head with the word “doofus” written on it.
In Crayon.
The preview shows were like being part of a culture,an expected, much awaited post-summer break culture.
It gave us that sigh of relief, now that we were back to school,we had a new season of toons,to escape to,on that precious first day off!
Also, speaking of sugary cereal,my poison was Apple Jacks.
Tasted nothing like Apples,or,God forbid,a guy named Jack.
There is a store here in Cleveland Ohio called ‘Big Fun’, they have an old library card catalog filled with drawers full of late 70s/ early 80s cereal box prizes.
Just so you know,a Mecca of sorts resides in Cleveland.
You know, we've had a few other viewers tell us about cool things like that in Cleveland, but sadly we've never visited there. Hoping to change that and make the trip some day... that place sounds awesome!! Wait until you see our Pac-Man cereal box door decorations we made for The 80s Cruise!
I totally remember The Littles & Shirt Tales!
Do you remember Camp Candy ? It came out in the late 80s and starred John Candy. That's one that I remembered!
I also loved the smurfs and the snorks. I also loved inspector gadget, chip n Dale rescue rangers. These were my favorites! Great video podcast as usual, you guy's are TOTALLY AWESOME.♥️
We don't remember Camp Candy at all, but we both liked John Candy as an actor. Sounds fun! Totally forgot about the Snorks, lol! Thanks for tuning in to our show Emily!
I loved Saturday Morning cartoons. I loved Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Gummie Bears, The Littles, Kidd Video, Earnest. I pretty much loved all Saturday morning cartoons. I was obsessed never missed a Saturday.
Saturday morning cartoons were like an appointment, ha! Those were great shows... I don't recall watching Gummie Bears, but of course I enjoyed the candy!
I'm a generation x baby and I can totally relate to everything you described in this podcast...lol. So much nostalgia watching and listening to you guys taking that trip back down memory lane in the 80's. 🤗 Keep these great videos coming! 👍
Cool, thanks Ray! Nostalgia is our goal, so I'm glad you felt that way. Appreciate the kind words. Long live the awesome 80s!!
Loved this episode. Great trip down memory lane.
Cool, thanks John!
After 1979(BAY CITY ROLLERS SHOW) i turned 13, and I was not watching cartoons anymore on Saturdays. I was staying up all night, skating rink, movies, playing video games, etc and sleeping late on Saturdays. I may have gotten up in time to watch American Bandstand to listen to the latest music, and check out what the teens and young adults were wearing. Im early Gen X 1967.
You had us at skating rink and video games, ha! It sounds like you spent some quality time in your youth... that's the way to do it.
@@Our80sLife Yes, those were the days.
Like Keith, I only had one network, which was CBS. I had two CBS affiliate stations from different cities, but they were pretty much identical as far as programming and time slots go. I remember watching Garfield & Friends, Heathcliff, Pee Wee's Playhouse, TMNT, Muppet Babies, Rude Dog and the Dweebs. Luckily we had a bedroom full with wall to wall bookcases, which were filled to the brim with VHS tapes of recorded movies and TV shows! I love Fruity Pebbles for the same reason lol!
Oh wow! I feel like you had better options on CBS (but of course, Pee Wee's Playhouse trumps them all for me, ha!) You were lucky to have a VCR and all those tapes though, cool!
My favorite Saturday morning cartoon was Pink Panther 💕 also, had to have a bowl of Capt Crunch!
Those are solid choices!
Haven't watched this video yet, but this channel is just killing it!
You are too kind! We really appreciate your support of our channel.
I had to pour me a bowl of Lucky Charms to watch this video. Lol. My brother and I woke up at 7am to watch Muppet Babies, Smurfs, Punky Brewster, Wrestling, and The littles. You need to make a video of after school shows. I remember watching Silver Spoons, The Brady Bunch, and Double Dare. Best times ever!!!
Nice!! Those were all great ones, and thanks for the suggestion about after school shows. I was completely OBSESSED with Double Dare. I wanted to be a contestant on that show SO badly!! We agree, best times ever. Thanks and cheers!
Great picture!
You remembered "Time For Timer!' He is a classic.
I liked a lot of Saturday morning cartoons, but Thundercats, Inspector Gadget, and A Pup Named Scooby Doo are the ones I can think of as liking a lot without much thought.
I used to make a personal pan pizza (even made by own dough) before watching Saturday Morning Cartoons for a while (for no reason that anyone knows).
It was hard to say no to Captain Crunch (be it with crunch berries or the peanut butter type), Fruitty Pebbles, and that Smurf's cereal with the berries.
Saturday Morning Cartoons was such a great tradition, I hope it is brought back again!
Great topic!
Yes! We had to dust off the cobwebs to remember "Timer" lol! That's funny (and impressive) that you made your own pizza, wow!
@@Our80sLife The football field at my hometown is dedicated to Bob "Timer" Price. It is possible that nickname came from the animated character, the town is an agricultural community that hosts Nebraska's Big Rodeo every year (so he might have dressed or looked like Timer).
Speaking of PSA's....how about 80's PSA's!
Do you remember Crash Test Dummies?
Saturday viewing up to fat Albert , then it was outside until we heard Dad Whistle for us ! ( Supper time) Tampa Florida
Oh ya! Totally forgot about Fat Albert. That was a fun show!
Just bring a bowl and a spoon then go to the store and grab the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and milk and eat it in the car! 😆
😂🤣
Ha ha, I never knew Scooby was a Great Dane! Wow, I remember that cartoon with the ice pops. But I wonder if I'm a little older than you guys, because I don't remember watching many of these. I do remember The Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, Jetsons, Casper, Woody, all the Looney Tunes, etc. My family always at earlier than I guess most people do, around 4-4:30. So by the time it was bedtime, we'd be a bit hungry again. We'd often have a bowl of cereal before bed. I don't eat it often now, but I lived on cereal even into adulthood. I hate cooking! It was just easy, LOL!
Abby, I was obsessed with The Smurfs. I never missed an episode. I also watched Speed Racer, and the Hercules & Felix the Cat hour. I still have my sticker book from 1981. It still has all my Smurf puffy stickers. You & Keith seem like really nice people. Wish you two were our neighbors. 💕
That's sweet, thanks Sylvia! We still have some of our Smurf stickers too (and our old sticker books!) We really feel like we grew up in the best decade ever!!
My favorite morning cereal was Sugar Corn Pops! I would let them soak in the milk before eating. YUM!
Oh, I still love them! I haven't bought them in a long time because I'll eat the whole box in a day or two.
Those were great too!
When i was sick my mom would play curious George goes to the hospital i still have the DVD it works still
That's a good one! I remember reading that book as a kid.
@@Our80sLife yea thats cool im probably gonna watch the movie today i have a bit of a cold
The guy in the cheese PSA was named Timer because he was an old timer
Oooh! That makes sense! 😂
I use to love Captain Caveman but of course Scooby Doo will always be my favorite. I love your channel. Tfs
Good ones! Thank you :)
My favorite Saturday morning cartoons were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Real Ghostbusters, Captain N the Game Master, The Pirates of Dark Water, and Garfield and Friends.
Nice choices; although, we don't recall The Pirates of Dark Water... sounds interesting and mysterious!
Hahaha! I remember, "Yuck Mouth."
And this one:
"When you're feeling sad or blue, watch out for the munchies
They have ways of making you munch when you're not hungry
Here, munch this! Here, munch that!
Now, you're not just bored, you're fat!"
We probably need to listen to the Munchies song today, ha ha! 🤣
Well, I have a lot of watched favorites in the 90's on Saturday Morning, but my favorites from the 80's were the Super Powers version of Super Friends, Garfield, Ghostbusters, Heathcliff, and of course Pee Wee's Playhouse!!! That's how I spend my Saturday's too!!!
Nice!! Those are happy memories for sure!
The 1980s was a magical time and one example is the fact that "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was produced and shown in 1988 which had both MICKEY MOUSE AND BUGS BUNNY in the same movie! Even today you will never see a film or cartoon with these two titular cartoon icons together! It even had Daffy Duck and Donald Duck having a piano duel against each other! We will never have another movie where we see Disney and Warner Bros characters together! The 1980s was not only the best time period in the 20th century but one of the greatest times to be alive in human history! #BringBackThe1980s
When you said cartoons from the 60s I also remember the Flintstones and Tom and Jerry and even though it wasn't a cartoon but I think it's from the 60s, I remember watching reruns of The Monkees series.
Oh yes! I remember watching The Monkees on Nickelodeon and loving it!
I loved and tried to watch saturday morning cartoons like SchoolHouse Rock, Spiderman and his amazing friends, The Charlie Brown and Snoopy show, going bananas, Spider Woman, Captain Caveman and the teen angels just to name a few.
Nice! We forgot about Captain Caveman... he was hilarious! 😂
Do you remember the cartoon where the teenage boy turned into a red sports car?
Turbo Teen... what a weird show that was!
@@Our80sLife Wow! You remember the name?!?!
Oh, Cookie Crisp! I remember that! Do they even make it anymore? Next time I go to the store I'm going to check.
I think they do!
Smurfs and cherrios with cool-whip on top. My dad would watch Smurfs with me since he was a morning person. Also watched the Bugaloos re-runs (not a cartoon), and Land of the Lost 😀
Hey Allison! Okay, I've never heard of putting cool-whip on Cheerios, but that sounds delicious. My mom used to toast Cheerios on the stovetop in butter... yum!! That's sweet that your dad watched morning cartoons with you. I definitely recall watching the Bugaloos and Land of the Lost... loved those cheesy shows! And also Sigmund & the Sea Monster... remember that one?
Who can forget G.I. Joe, Dungeons and Dragons, He-Man and my personal favorite, Thundarr the Barbarian?!
I ate a lot sugary cereal with the TV Saturday morning cartoons
It was the breakfast of champions!
Its hard to believe that School House Rock came out in 1973.
I know, right?! Time really does just fly by!
Muppet Babies, Garfield, Smurfs, Snorks, Pee Wee, Shirt Tales, The Wuzzles, The Get Along Gang and The Chipmunks!
Oh yes, all of those! We forgot about The Wuzzles, and I absolutely loved The Chipmunks. I remember listening to some of those records too!
Would love it if you guys do a video on the more recent "Pee-wee's Big Holiday" from 2016 :D I am happy to see Pee-wee a wholesome hero from the 1980s return at least for one last time. :)
Oh that was great! We enjoyed seeing the new Pee-Wee movie when it was released, but that was before we started vlogging. I remember loving it... will have to see where it's available for streaming.
Does anyone remember the Friday night preview of the upcoming season of Saturday morning cartoons? It stared Ruth Buzzy and Jim Neighbors with the Dorse.
I have no memory of that whatsoever, but it sounds amazing! Hopefully it exists somewhere out there.
Oh yes, back in the 70s, I lived for stuff like that when I was a kid. I definitely remember that episode. THE LOST SAUCER one. I think that one came on in 1975 if Im not mistaken. Funshine Saturday on ABC. I was 9 years old at the time, or mayby 8.
Remember SNORKS? They reminded me of SMURFS only underwater.
Yes!! They kind of looked like Q-Bert too, if I'm remembering correctly. Funny (and slightly weird) little characters!
Time FOR TIMER.
Please do a peewee episode! He is my favorite.
Sure, he’s my favorite too!! Stay tuned because we actually dressed up as Pee-Wee & Miss Yvonne for Pop Icon night on The 80s Cruise recently (video coming soon!) You might also enjoy seeing this one: th-cam.com/video/-AfxY-8m5bg/w-d-xo.html
Mine where thunder the barbarian. smurfs. kid video. scoby do . The bugs bunny road runner show pac man land of the lost it's not a cartoon but it's still cool today they all still are oh flash Gordon and plaint of the apes..
Good ones! Can't believe we forgot about Pac-Man, I was obsessed! Thanks for watching and commenting Jim!
Scooby-Doo debut year was 1969
Yes! Hard to believe the show was already about ten years old when we were discovering it. Such a classic!
ThunderCats
I watched the Duke's Of Hazzard cartoon. I stopped watching, tv in 07'. I can live without tv. Have since then.
I also, watch the Mask cartoon. They we're the flying cars. I put them in the catalog of transformers. More than meets the eye.
Oh Keith loved the Duke's of Hazzard! I asked him if he remembers the cartoon version, and he said vaguely... probably wasn't on the channel he had. TV has definitely gone downhill since the 80s, and modern shows are pretty bad... you aren't missing much.
@@Our80sLife , I didn't think I was missing much. I'll send your husband a link to the opening credits to The dukes of Hazzard cartoon.
@@Our80sLife , here's the link to it.
th-cam.com/video/Umi97f-LAOo/w-d-xo.html
Do you guys remember that a team aerial? It had Mr. T. on the front of the box?
They do have commercials here on TH-cam? Are from the '80s and '90s.
Who remembers “The Secret World of Og” cartoon series on some Saturdays, with the little green men who lived in a magical underground world? The entrance to their land was through a tree in a little boy’s back garden. I think mit was on ABC, and it was based on a book I believe. I really liked that one. Overall I was not very interested in cartoons though!
Hmm... that's not ringing a bell at all. Sounds really interesting though, kinda similar to the Smurfs.
@@Our80sLife found it! It was a Hanna-Barbera production, according to IMDB, 1983 premiere ABC. Here’s a link to a highlight reel, though perhaps if you can find it somewhere you might not want to spoil it and watch it in full. That was one of my favourites and definitely brings back the Saturday morning memories. ;) th-cam.com/video/QTQCDvY0554/w-d-xo.html

When the cartoons ended and I wasn't told to go outside and play or didn't have any errands to run with my folks, it was American Bandstand, Dance Fever, Solid Gold, American Top 40, Star Search, Puttin' On The Hits, and of course...
THE SOOOOOOOOOOUUUUULLLLL TRAAAAAIIIIINNNNN!!!!!
Oh my goodness, so many awesome memories! Thanks for the reminders of those classic shows and cereals, how fun! We had forgotten that Pac-Man was a cartoon too. I don't think Keith had it, but I LOVED watching Star Search and Puttin' On The Hits! We celebrated Keith's 50th birthday over the weekend, and one of our friends brought him a box of Fruity Pebbles, ha!
