What an AWESOME wall! A great collection with so many neat references! I love how much you both love the '80s and your commitment to making everything look as retro as possible! ☺️❤️🤘🏾
It’s almost the fourth of zjuly now,and I did notice that Abby was sporting a red, then a white, then a blue swatch, which I thought was a delight. Happy Fourth of July to you! 😊
Hi , new subscriber. What a great 80's wall tribute. When I worked back in the 80's at Toys R Us , I had to call 400 poeple to come get there Cabbage Patch Dolls that were on back order . Crazy times.
Gotta have Strawberry shortcake 🍓....great video, the kiddos and I really enjoyed , or maybe a crochet blanket like all of our grandmas had on the back of their couch!!
Wow alot of cool stuff on that wall I see, and I even had a few of those things too!!! I use to love getting those cards when they had the bubble gum in them!!! Oh and I love those shirts you two had on at the beginning of the video!!! Rock Me Amadeus is one of my favorite songs!!!
Oh those dolls that peed, LOL!! I always loved those things. Do you remember Baby Alive?! My parents hated it because it was messy, but what a fun (and slightly weird) toy! Thanks for watching :)
I love the speak and spell…You guys outta add a cereal box of an 80s brand…That was a big advertising block on the Saturday morning cartoons…Also loved the Hoover Board from Mattel…
Love the 80’s wall! Abby I used to follows our 80’s life and recently rediscovered you guys. Your Abby’s Retro can you add your Etsy store link? Keep up the great work and catch you in the next video.
That's awesome, My favorite things on the wall: The electronic football game, the watchman, the Simon game, the Atari 2600, The NES game, the overboard, the VHS tapes, the 45 rpm record, the video camera, the cassettes and tape player, the shower radio, the cellphone, and the Burgertime game. An 8 track tape would've been good on that wall. Any 8 track that came out in the 80's. I love the Atari on there. I have the new Atari 2600+ which came out last year. It plays Atari 2600 games and Atari 7800 games.
Thanks Aaron! All that old technology is so fun, isn’t it?! Crazy to see how far tech has come in our lifetime!! That’s so cool that you have a working Atari system. Whats your favorite vintage game?
Sweet studio. While I don't play them, I still have a sizeable collection of VHS. So that would be my favorite. I decorated my video store in plushies, lunch boxes, and other movie tie-ins. Some of the iconic characters I had was E.T., Garfield, Snoopy, Scooby Doo, and various Matchbox movie cars. Since you have a game theme, I would recommend a Rubik's Cube, Gameboy, and Uno deck.
Very cool, thanks!! We definitely enjoy collecting VHS tapes from the 80s too, so fun! We have ours on display in our basement living room area - you might enjoy the video we made about that if you missed it. Here's a link to that one: th-cam.com/video/HEWC_ohvCDs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bla_MLglGryo8Rw2

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love that your brother is named after Luke Duke, how cool! The Electric Youth music video seems cheesy now, but I remember loving it back in the day. And for the record, the dance is WAY harder than you'd think, LOL! Debbie was telling us about the making of the video and how fun it was to dance in front of the fake castle set that day. Bill & Ted is one of my all-time favorite movies! Party on!!
Very cool wall, I had quite a bit of that stuff growing up. If you ever have been to Disney World the wall reminds me of the walls at one of their hotels Pop Century all different things from the 50's-80"s One thing I saw in the video but not on the wall is Strawberry Shortcake especially since its her 45th anniversary this year. Darn saying that made me feel old ugghh lol
Thanks Tracey! Yes, we actually stayed at Pop Century and that display was a big influence for the wall, you're very observant! I totally loved their display and found it so inspiring! It's taken me a long time to collect enough items (at reasonable prices) to fill the wall, but we finally made it. You are the third person to mention Strawberry Shortcake... major oversight on my part because of course I loved her! I actually still have all my original dolls, so we'll definitely be adding those to the wall ASAP!
This was a FINE video indeed!!! My favorite, and the reason why is because you have one of those free gifts upon magazine subscription, like the sports illustrated shoe phone? Well I like the Pewee Herman life magazine, because I recieved a little micro potable radio, with the life magazine logo on it,it was soooo cool back in ‘85! Still have it,along with a genuine Swatch wall clock! I am going on 2 weeks off,I will pack it up and send it to you. It’s swatch ‘commando’ It’s gonna be a big box, just a heads up! When you first entered the room, there was that lone pillow guy on the couch. I remember him,but can’t remember who he is!!!! Brown, with a big nose, who is thaaaaat?? You have a green screen, nice. Please,Abby, consider making a video inspired by the story I wrote about you guys, where you shrink🤣 I need to go back and find that story,I wrote it on the spot and posted it right away,I hope it’s as zany as I remember 😅
Oh,btw,I really liked seeing,at the beginning of the video, you were enjoying the red pop swatch, which you originally purchased a non-working one,but now you do,that made me smile😊
Thanks so much Charles!! I'm glad you appreciated my S.I. shoe phone - I think it's SO 80s, ha! We were wondering if you found your Swatch wall clock because you'd mentioned once that you weren't sure if you still had it... how exciting! To answer your question, that pillow guy (sewn by my cousin from a vintage pattern) is the bad guy from Rainbow Brite, and his name is Lurky. As for the green screen, we haven't used it lately, but it's pretty fun to play around with.
Thanks! We followed the directions on the Command strips and used several of the large size for heavier objects (especially the Atari game, which we showed toward the end of the video.) One important step which we didn't show in the video is to clean the item with rubbing alcohol before you adhere the Command strip to make sure it sticks.
Hey guys! Hope you all are doing well. Love the video btw ❤ (of course lol). I have to ask, where did you purchase Electric Youth from? I first got the spray stick for my 14th birthday back in '88, was phenomenal!!
Oh!! Here’s a completely crazy 80’s story, regarding the floppy disc on your wall: There was a book back then,a controversial book, called “The Anarchist’s cookbook” Now,just for the record,I never subscribed to this philosophy, but I have read this book,it’s nuts. So,one of the recipes was to crush the heads of matches into a powder, and gently sprinkle the powder not someone’s floppy disk. When they inserted that disk, the friction would light up the match powder, which would cause a FIRE!!! I think, and hope this book is no longer available, even considering that floppy disks are no longer a thing. Lastly, again, green screen: Abby, this is your chance to renovate the vintage dollhouse,at proper scale! You need to shrink😅
Wow, that is CRAZY!! Yikes! As for the dollhouse, I definitely need to finish the renovation, that's for sure! I'll have to give some thought to the logistics of shrinking Abby, but it's a fun idea!
Funny you said that because I used to work at a history museum, and all of our items were cataloged in a database like that. Nowadays, it just sounds like a lot of work, lol!
Hmmm... not sure what you're referring to, but I'm glad it's better now. We recently started using new wearable mics (those small dots that you see on our shirts) so that probably accounts for the improvement in sound. Anyway, thanks for watching!
@@Our80sLife Example would be around 3:30. As you are showing items you can hear the camera focusing. The sound seems to go away form 6:00 on so I assumed you changed cameras or maybe just changed a setting.

HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS! I loved that thing. I can hear the sound in my mind!
Yes!! I loved it too! I think they still make it, but I was excited to find an original vintage one like I had in the 80s. 🦛
