      I used to work in a grocery store in a college town. We had a big turnaround in student employees. I worked with this girl whose father was an AoG pastor. She tried to pretend she was all sweet and innocent, but she was a raging slut. After a couple years, she didn't even try to hide it any more.

    Grew up AG. I think they get many things right and am happy that they have mostly not fallen into prosperity gospel like many charismatic churches. I think the the pre-mil, raptured stance is a black mark against them as well as female pastors, but they’re mostly great. In my experience no other denomination has more genuine believers who earnestly desire the things of God, as it’s a worship tradition that doesn’t really tolerate lukewarm believers.

    • @broz1488
      @broz1488 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a pre-tribulation rapture, which is in line with previous events when God's wrath was poured upon the world.
      Such as removing Noah and his family before the flood, and removing Lot and his family before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
      God has established a precident that the faithful will be removed before the event of a destruction.
      Almost as if God will not destroy a place populated by people if the people are not 100% evil, thus the removal of any righteous people who would stand in the way of God's destruction.

      I can’t say the same for the AG church I just left. Lots of prosperity teaching, as well as alignment with Bethel, and many other bad churches and false teachers. I even caught wind of some NAR teachings that I just could not align with. Lots of lukewarm people within those congregations, as I’ve found. I’d previously been a Foursquare congregant, and left that denomination because of how far it has slid to the left and allowed some very unbiblical doctrine to penetrate its walls. This isn’t to say that there aren’t genuine believers within the walls of either of these similar Pentecostal denominations. I’m just saying that after 30 years in attendance to their teachings, I just do not align. Things seem to have changed dramatically in all these decades. If your AG experience is still Biblical and blesses you, then praise God.

    Officially, the AoG do not recognize themselves as a denomination -per se- but a group of local churches that agree to believe in the fundamentals and act in fellowship and each body and ordained are members by choice. Because of this, there can be a wide variation of how one AoG church feels and operates from another. To those outside the AoG this may appear as only a play of semantics but understanding this can help understand the breadth and variances of the AoG cultures.

    Assemblies of God as a denomination is interesting as you can see some really major cultural diffrences depending on where you are.
    My Mother was raised in an AOG Church and it was pretty strict on things like how much make up she could wear, and which instruments were allowed to be used in worship service.
    When I was a kid we went to an AOG Church for a while, and it was less strict about dress codes but which musical instruments were allowed in service was still pretty rigid.
    My father had/ has long hair and beard but he was an exception for reasons unknown to me but you knew that not everyone would have been able to get away with it like he was.

    AOG leaders on Vashon Island were not righteous towards me. I was falsely accused, ridiculed, and refused help in a difficult situation. I called both the Pacific Northwest umbrella as well as the AOG head office and I was given a bit of information but really no help. They connected me to a church counselor who said he could not help me and I should seek other counseling. The leaders were quick to falsely accuse me. Even blocked me by blocking on phone, the pastor refused to talk to me any longer to bring any helpful and godly resolution to my situation and told me I could no longer talk to him. They were not interested in the truth of my situation or my soul or the soul of my child. I’ve not been back to a church since though I homeschooled my three children and my oldest achieved a Master of Divinity. I found a lot of worldliness and selfish ambition in their leadership. I name the specific area where the church was located because maybe not all are like that, but this church was. Nobody had true Christ ordained unity. When I mentioned the unity Paul speaks of in Ephesians, or tried to answer the true reason for baptism which is an appeal to God for a clean conscience, or when I spoke of any truth in scripture I got rolling eyes and censorship. Too much carnal control which indicates a true lack of understanding about the heart of God and scripture in general. I questioned how they choose pastors for their churches and was told if they had been to seminary they just signed them up! Well, that doesn’t follow what Paul outlined in scripture for choosing true leaders. Tons of carnal control, poor logic, lack of humility, lack of true love from the Spirit of Christ. The AOG church and denomination needs to repent in many ways. This doesn’t mean anyone at an AOG church is necessarily like this, but in general I think it’s a problem. There is a lack of godly accountability in their leaders. An attitude of pray for me but get off my back. The current pastor even told me he could think and say anything he wanted to about me and I needed to get over myself or I was welcomed to leave; this is not LOVE. They messed me over! The pastor told me if I didn’t like it I could go find another church. I’m not explaining everything to detail of what happened because there isn’t enough room here, but it was hideous and unbiblical. Godly submission and accountability means that you’re truly interested in the godly outcome for anybody in any situation. They were about themselves to the point of making up things about me to make me seem worse than I really was all to protect their own image. It was bad, folks! This could happen with anyone at any any church in any denomination. It’s called not knowing and walking with TRUTH in the truth. It’s called selfish ambition and it’s a no no mentioned in the letter of James. A church or denomination can say they believe in this doctrine or that doctrine, but if they do not walk in love it doesn’t matter. 1 Corinthians 13 is clear! If you have not love whatever you say you do for Christ amounts nothing. This was AOG on Vashon Island. Lots of respecting of certain individuals, lots of false accusation, lots of ridicule. I was even told by the pastor if I chased something down it would just get worse. This is unaccountability and cowardice and not biblical. Jesus said if someone sins against me I can go tell him his sin and get it worked out. Not there! Never could get anything worked out and I was worse and worse falsely accused for trying. I trust my Heavenly Father and Jesus, but I do not trust church leaders who bully and are unaccountable. It’s not love, it’s not God. God is love!

      That doesn’t sound right, Bethel Redding was an AOG church until 2006 when they split from the Assemblies of God to form their own leadership network. The church members voted to leave the Assemblies of God in November 2005. After the vote the Northern Cal-Neva district AoG (my district) informed Bethel Redding that they didn’t invite Assemblies of God to speak to the congregation about the split.
      In Jan 2006 papa Bill Johnson wrote a letter apologizing to the AG for voting without informing the AG inviting them up to speak to the congregation, and stating it “was not a response to conflict, rather a response to call.”
      AG wanted to continue their relationship with Bethel and would likely take them back if they wanted to go back to the denomination. My AG church leadership is Bethel affiliated, bethel still has a large influence on our district and the AG. Pastor Bill partners with James River (Assembly) and other quite often. Assemblies seem to align with Bethels views pretty close.

      The poor, unread followers begin making up baby talk to try and fit in. Nobody interprets it because it's not actually a language and the doctrines of the pastor who allows such things precludes any discipline or Scripturally sound behavior.

      Ok, Let’s analyze this matter. You that you have attended both the Catholic Church and Church are there any differences between them? They both worship Jesus. This is clearly a Greek given name as in Jesus, jesu, zeus. While Scripture states He was Hebraic with a Hebraic name as in YAHUSHA Ben YAHUAH. You know as in Hallelu-YAH. Both worship on the same day Sunday the 1st day of the week, when clearly scriptures states the 7th Day Sabbath Rest, (Gen. 2:2).
      Both have the same unclean dietary foods as in Pork, Shrimp etc. etc. While scripture clearly states it is a sin to eat unclean meats, (Lev. 11:7) & (Is.66:17). Both celebrate Hell-0-day, as in Christ-Mass, both bring in their house the Christ-Mass-Tree while in (Jer. 10:1-10) not to do it. They both search for the rabbits colored egss, later they both eat their Pork Ham.
      Both use Greek/Roman titles as in Lord which is synonymous with Baal. Jesus, Jesu, zeus. (Op’pah) and reverse the letters in God, yes it is Dog. Now how can we relate are Heavenly Father with Dog? While our Messiah is Hebraic and His name is YAHUSHA Ben YAHUAH, Aluhiym. Our Messiah was both in Bethlehem and not Athens Greece.
      Both Catholics and Christians believe that they have a license to sin by keeping His Commandments that pertain to us. They believe that they are above the Law of YAHUAH ‘wrong’ (John 14-15) & (1 John 2:4)
      Both honor Mary, both call her Mary, in fact her name is Meriam. One prays to a Rosary and the other has prayer chain where people gather together and form a prayer chain.
      So you see both Catholic and Christian are similar in a lot of ways. In fact Christianity is an off branch of the Catholic tree. HOWEVER, I’m not saying you are wrong. What I’m saying it’s time to step up the Ladder in your faith, and swim cross over the Jordan River to the Hebraic side, (Gen. 28:10-13). Shalom

    • @NikoFinn
      @NikoFinn ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I got saved, not by denomination, but by God when I wasn't even looking for Him. Jesus saved me from hellfire when I was 15, I believed the Gospel.
      I am saying that all you need to know true salvation is from your heart truly , humbly seek God to tell you where the salvation is and what is the truth. In John 14 Jesus said He is the truth, and John 17 He said God's Word is true. When you have something that is true and truth there is only one way to interpret it correctly, one million wrong ones. I recommend by reading the gospel of John in context from chapter 1 to 21. My experience is that most people misapply and misunderstans Bible when they don't read it enough, in context and pray for God to lead them.
      This is the salvation God in His Word talks about: we have sinned against holy and righteous God who is love and created all of us. He sent His Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life for us, to die for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again bodily for our justification. A man is saved from hellfire by simply believing, from the heart, Jesus did that for him. Once he does Jesus Christ saves him and he is born again of Holy Spirit. For Scripture references: Ephesians 1:13, Romans 3, Romans 4: 1-5, 22;23, Romans 5:1, Galatians 2:20 and on, Ephesians 2:8-9 etc.
      Also here is one analogy I find to be helpful: I am a personal trainer. We all have lots of muscles on our bodies. People workout and use their muscles. What if a person who works on his back muscles now says: well, I do this movement to work on my chest. Is he right? No. All muscles have a specific function and purpose and attachment points. One truth of how muscles work(objective truth), one billion different opinions of trainees of how muscles do work. How do you know what muscles do? You study muscle anatomy.

    The AG did not split from COGIC. They were formed separately with similar doctrine. I did read on a Wikipedia article that various pentecostal fellowships in 1914 "determined to separate from COGIC" and form the AG. However, I don't think any of those fellowships were part of COGIC, so the meaning is that they chose not to join the COGIC denomination and instead form a voluntary cooperative fellowship which they named the Assemblies of God. Thus this was not a split per se, but instead they formed separately. It is also obvious that race may have played an issue with who was invited at the forming of the AG. Later the AG condemned racism as sin and have since become very ethnically diverse.

    Speaking in tongues in the key opponent to satan, hence, he goes to every extreme to try to stop it. He can’t interpret it, he can’t intercept it, he even can’t stop it. Speaking in tongues totally & completely allows The Lord God to do on “Earth as it is in Heaven”. In the Book of Jude it says that we build up our most holy faith when we pray in tongues. But even still, The Lord God says that speaking in tongues is a gift, just like salvation; & a gift is only a gift if it’s received. There are plenty more reasons to speak in tongues which are also found in The Lord ‘s Love Book, The Bible😁.

      I wrote twice to the headquarters of the Central Assemblies and spoke to the department head of Western, Pa. They have a black pulpit, drums, microphones, guitars, pianos, horns and lights, but not one cross. I was told that the preacher was a wonderful Christian and that they preach Jesus, so what's the problem. I asked if this was the denominations decision or the preachers. Received no answer. I told him that churches throughout the world are being burned to the ground and Christians have died for that cross. Why do you not have a cross in your sanctuary. He asked, who have you discussed this with! I asked why is the cross a controversy!! Maybe your church has a cross but this one didn't. I asked why do they avoid preaching about the rapture and why is the blood of Jesus never discussed. What direction I asked is this denomination going. So don't be so quick to down me, I will fight for the cross that isn't displayed.

      I’m sorry you had that experience, but the statement you made was in general about every AG church and I must say it is just not true as a whole. As someone who has been in hundreds of AG churches around the world and worked in the national office of the Assemblies of God in Springfield Missouri, I can tell you that the word of God is preached boldly. We believe in the death, burial, and the second coming of Christ. The Cross is central to our faith! Without the precious blood of Jesus there is no forgiveness of sin.
      Again, I’m sorry you had that experience. I just want you to know that it is not like that in most AG churches.

    The Assemblies of God is the same as every other man made Protestant "church". Jesus created One Church, see Matt 16:18, the pillar and foundation of truth, see 1 Tim 3:15, and the Final Authority, see Matt 18:15-17. In 107AD, St. Ignatius of Antioch, a Bishop in Jesus's Church, wrote a letter, calling the Church "Catholic" or Universal. The name Stuck. Martin Luther came along in 1517 and started all the confusion of today, with thousands and thousands of man made Churches all teaching different beliefs and doctrines, yet reading the same Bible, which the Catholic Church gave to the world in the late 4th century. The end.
