one of the reasons why soccer is failing in America (and Canada) is that money is everything here, if you ain’t got money you can’t join an academy

another reason is, anything america isn't good at, they'll discard it. if anything they're decent at they'll call themselves the best and compete with 1-2 countries and call it world cup/championship 😭

USA has a lot of potential. Y'all gotta get out of that mentality of not caring about the sport just because you can't be the best at it yet. Theres like 190+ countries on the grind. This is about the grind. We all look for the same. I feel like americans undervalued football just because they could not automatically be the best. Football is not like that. The level competition at football is something else. You can't be always the winner...you gotta support and put effort to be the best, it won't come to y'all just because youre american....and to be honest you got everything to be one of the best, except for the love to the sport

Our Women dominated world soccer for decades and the general public still doesn't care. You can say "nobody cares about women's sports!" but look at the WNBA. Look at Track and Field. Look at women's CBB. People care, but they just don't care about soccer

    • @rrarinegen9566
      @rrarinegen9566 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, exactly.
No one cares about most women sports because most of the time that shit sucks. But i do gotta give it to y’all women for being the best those past years, but it will never be the same compared to the men. Women sports in general has become more of a thing last decades. Before that is was more of being in the kitchen and raising kids. Track and field is something that can be discussed. And the WNBA, that shit trash fr.
Even if you guys put same effort in the men’s team like you did with the women? Still unreachable. Women sports became a thing really for the last 3/4 decades, while the man been putting work years before that.
Y’all don’t gotta care, y’all can keep using the term soccer, but ey, at the end of the day? Y’all gonne be the one that will forever suck at it, living in y’all bubble. ⚽️ national teams are like army’s. And for a major country like the US? Y’all have one of the weakest army around the 🌎 globe

Pelé didn't went to europe because the dictatorship that was going on here in Brasil (which USA had huge influence into making it during cold war), made him a National Treasure (which means, he couldn't be sold to abroad)
but in 62 he didn't shine because got broken second game, 66 also, he didn't want to play in 1970, but was almost forced to it from the dictators (it only ended in 1985)
and if you'd put the 5 best brazilian teams from those days in europe best leagues, they could win all of'em

  • @joelitonsantos9516

During Pele's last season (1977), the North American Soccer League had 18 teams. In the following season, the league had 24 teams. They added too many teams, too soon. This only lasted three seasons. After the 1980 season, teams started going under until the league completely folded after the 1984 season. There was a documentary about the New York Cosmos made in the mid-2000s, and one of the people that was interviewed described it as having started off as a 3-ring circus, which became a 10-ring circus, and finally the tent collapsed.
There was no salary cap. I don't think they even understood the concept of revenue sharing. It never occurred to them that they needed to start youth academies to develop homegrown players. They were heavily dependent on signing famous players who were in their 30s. They also signed players out of college.
    That league was doomed.
In the 2010s, there was a re-launch of the North American Soccer League, but did not achieve the same level of success as the original. Amazingly, the re-launched version operated in the same way as the original. You can guess how this ended.

2:10 not true at all. I’ve seen a lot more MLS related hype in my community since Messi arrived, even now. Not even for Miami I particular (though mostly.) I see a lot more people actually wearing their team’s jerseys now.
Also MLS numbers are still overall higher than before Messi came, even in games he doesn’t play, meaning that there already is a permanent impact in terms of popularity, which is what is important. I also can’t find a single place in my city that doesn’t sell a Messi related product, either it’s certain grocery stores carrying his sports drink, clothing stores with his cologne, gas stations with his beer ads, or general stores and his merch, he’s still everywhere I go.

That documentary is accurate. As an old guy today and a child that played soccer because Pele came to the United States. Soccer was DEAD here. It basically did not exist. His arrival and the failed NASL still planted the seeds that slowly continue to grow today. The USA really didn’t have soccer heroes of our own. You struggled to find even a game on television. There were no streaming or even cable television for most. Soccer can likely be the third most popular sport in America in my lifetime. Definitely, fourth.
Background on how poor soccer was here in the USA. So dead my youth soccer coach was British. In high school, we had 2 German transfers due to military. We went from mediocre to state semi-finals 😂😂😂

The reason football can't caught up in US is because they don't have the talent in the streets
And this is because the US was a rich country when football became popular
Football is a poor man sports because it's the most accessible sport in the world
All you need is a circular object and two stones to play it
But US was rich enough that people had access to basketball and baseball who need more accessories than football
So most people didn't really need to take on football because everyone else was playing these sports so why play it 🤷
The talent comes from the streets and is there isn't anyone playing a sport in the streets then where will the talent come from

I believe Americans don't love it because it's the number 1 sport ulin the world and not their sports.because I've been to an American football game as a neutral and bro lol..aside the costumes the high scoring didn't really mean much to me.iv been to a baseball game and wonder what exactly made people intrigued..aside from the nba which can rival soccer as a sport to a degree..I believe if America really wanted to be the best in the world of soccer they could be but big corporations involved in all these other sports with advertisements and financial benefits won't allow it to happen..Im afraid it can't be a top sport in America

No NASL over expanded and didn't have salary caps.. also didn't have a sustainable plan

@@riccorich Exactly. The NASL had no salary cap & no revenue sharing. It never occurred to the league's owners to start youth academies to develop homegrown players. The owners thought they could just sign famous foreign players who were in their 30s, along with players out of college.
