Loved the March madness you did and so glad you really liked None of this is true. I also love reading books that are either set in MO or author is from MO. If you end up liking cozies you should check out the country club murder series by Julie Mulhern. It's set in KC and I love it. Another good series is the Ozark mysteries series by Nancy Allen. It's more detective/thriller vibes but its set in the Ozarks. I've read the first three in the series and really liked them. You had a great reading month!
None of This is True was a 5 star for me as well, so good!! 😍 And that’s too bad about Only If You’re Lucky, I really enjoyed A Flicker in the Dark so hopefully you’ll like that one more if you give her a second chance.
I heard from several people who didn’t love Only If You’re Lucky that Flicker in the Dark was a 5 star for them, so I’ll definitely read that one at some point!
@@Laura_Reads okay good!! That was one of the first thrillers I read and I thought it was great. Hope you will too, and we’ll see what I think of Only If You’re Lucky, haha
@@LibrariesandLattes you might like it!! There were several people on the book club discussion that rated it 3 or 4 stars. I don’t think anyone gave it 5 stars though… 😬
What a great month of reading. I too loved Legends and Lattes and I’m so glad you enjoyed it too! I enjoyed Gone Girl but it made my head spin. I would love to see you read A man named Ove. It’s excellent . 😊😊😊💖💖💖
I saw the movie that was based on A Man Called Ove and loved it! That’s what made me want to read the book! So cute, sad, uplifting, heartbreaking, funny… love that movie.
I loved Book Madness! I was really anticipating what the two would be that won. So creative and fun! It’s funny, I got vibes from “Gone Girl” that you got reading it. I think I watched it on Netflix but never read the book. I kinda laughed when you said the couple was basic. Lol. You had a great reading month with a variety of books! Sorry you got sick and couldn’t get to all of them but you got a lot of good reading in!
I think I just need to scale back my reading plans so I’m not disappointing myself, because you are right-I read a lot of great books last month! Thanks so much, Denise!! I made my husband watch the movie of Gone Girl-he doesn’t read so usually if there’s a movie or TV version of a book I read, I watch the movie with him so I can talk to him about it. Lol 😆 He said it was the worst ending to a movie he’s ever seen. I didn’t love the way it ended either, but ultimately, I just didn’t care enough about those characters to care how it ended!
Best wishes with what you are reading. I hope you get some great stories. Currently on page 770 of the Count of Monte Cristo. Still got some way to go. Happy reading.
Oooh that’s one I want to read but I’m nervous, lol Is the writing difficult to understand? I just tried Pride and Prejudice and couldn’t get through it. But I loved Little Women, if that helps understand my level of comfort with classics. Hope you have a great time reading that one. Happy May!
Such a fun March Madness! Apparently we're opposite though....I didn't love None of This is True, but I did enjoy Only If You're Lucky! 😂 Honestly, I thought the middle of Only If You're Lucky was slow and repetitive, but then it picked up well for me towards the end. It wasn't a 5 star for me, but a solid 4.
Thank you!! There were several people in our book club that gave Only If You’re Lucky a 4 star, so you’re definitely not alone! But I was on the edge of my seat for None of This Is True!! 😆
I’ve only read a few of his but I’ve loved it all. How to Sell a Haunted House was what I started with. I’ve read Ankle Snatchers, a short story, and then Badasstronauts! For most people, Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires is his best. Others like My Best Friend’s Exorcism or We Sold Our Souls. He’s campy horror-it might make you laugh, and some people don’t love that, but it’s my favorite!
I also loved None of This is True and hated Only If You're Lucky. Only if You're Lucky was such a disappointment considering what Stacy Willingham has done in the past. I am honestly so frustrated by how bad it was that I am debating trying Stacy Willingham again even though I LOVED All the Dangerous Things.
See? We align sometimes with thrillers! Even though Ruth and Frieda aren’t my faves. Lol 😆 Have you read A Flicker in the Dark? I would read from her again, but if I don’t like the second one she might just not be the author for me.
@@Laura_Reads I liked All the Dangerous Things better than A Flicker in the Dark but both were leagues above Only if You're Lucky. I have no idea what she was trying to do with that one but it sucked. Usually, her characters are older and more established. I hated that she went and made a college book with the toxic friendships and like, nothing happened in for the longest time. It was just them partying and being sus. Lol!
@@RescuesandReads lol 😆 I think she did a good job of creating the college atmosphere. I went to a small town college and it was very much like what she described! But I agree-while I liked the slow pace at first, it needed more build and just fell flat for me. It’s pretty forgettable.
Wait....The Nightingale was part of this and it didn't even make it to the second round? That is highly questionable. Lol. And the fact that Gone Girl was the final choice is even more questionable because that book is not nearly as amazing as everyone thinks it is.

I’m enjoying the cozies this month!! I’ll definitely have to check out those other MO authors. 🎉

I loved Gone Girl too! ❤
It’s wild!!
Loved this wrap up 😊 I loved how detailed you talk about the books but not gave any spoilers 👍🏻
Thanks so much!! 💕📚 have a great weekend.
@@Laura_Reads you too!
Love the book bracket format.
You had a mixed month, glad there were a number of good reads for you.

Your March Madness was fun to watch play out. I really wanted Dark Matter to win, though. 😂 Have a great weekend, Laura. ❤
I will read Dark Matter soon! Several of you wanted that to win and it was SO close to beating Gone Girl! Have a good weekend, Tammy!

I love this bracket format so much! I wish I had been more active on TH-cam in March to participate in voting!
No worries!! Thank you for watching! 💕
Great video! But I loved Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine! 😍😂
I definitely still want to read that one!! 💕

@@Laura_Reads It is a very easy read. It is very long and you might get twitchy about reading other things! Good luck.
@@ReadingIDEAS.-uz9xk haha “twitchy” is a great way to describe it. 😆 I know that feeling!!
