The greatest pleasure is knowing that even if you work your ass off, you are somehow participating in a great civilisation and common project. Neither the American Anglo Capitalist nor the USSR communists really got this point. In Capitalism there is extreme individualism. People make money but are apathetic. In Communism there is collectivism, but since the ideology is toxic (class warfare, etc) people just aren't motivated and it feels like forced collectivism. In Germany you knew you were part of a single people/race, working under one leader, for the prosperity of a single Empire. The only danger/problem was who would be Hitler's successor.
