Lilly Pulitzer is a pretty cool brand. Kiel James Patrick as well. Both great quality and on the pricy side.
I’ve shopped all these brands in the past, but all except perhaps Barbour have gone to cheap synthetic fabrics, which I can’t stand, even in blends. I’m shopping more Euro brands these days, I need quality. Of the US brands, only Banana Republic is delivering on quality, most of my wardrobe purchases have been from this brand this last year. I’ve had to buy a lot, I had to replace my whole wardrobe, and they’ve got the lion’s share of my business. I love their modern classic styles, natural-fiber fabrics and high-quality design and workmanship.

I go for the Katherine Hepburn classic androgynous trouser and nearly flat sandal or loafer for timeless beauty and sophistication always...closest to that style for me is Ralph Lauren...
😅 Gotta love the Meghan Markle and Barbour comment. The Queen, Princess Diana, and Kate Middleton were wearing Barbour long before newcomer Markle had any inkling of what the brand was. Anyway, this video is like a commercial for these brands. I had some American OLD MONEY friends and acquaintances when I was young and they dressed pretty much like the rest of us did. You wouldn't have known they were rich until they had to dress up for a special occasion. That's when the premium quality suits, expensive leather shoes, and pricey watches come out. Now we're all old and the difference compared to the rest of us is the value of their various pieces of real estate. 😊

Yes, this is the unfortunate truth about most of the brands mentioned in the video. The quality of the recently purchased items was so disappointing that neither classic design nor relatively low price tag would make me buy from them again.

I don’t know all of these brands. I’m in Australia. I absolutely love Ralph Lauren. That would be my favourite. Unfortunately it’s ridiculously expensive in Australia so I’ve never been able to afford anything from the brand. Tommy Hilfiger is really lovely too and a little less expensive.
Barbour is worth every penny.
I wear all these brands plus Ann Taylor except Barbour and Coach I do have one coach bag.
For styling my pieces Ralph Lauren fits my sensibility. British Country, Equestrian, American Preppy Western and Boho styles I wear them all and mixed tpgether as he very pftrn dpes in fashion shows...it gives me a unique look. They all fit my past....born and raise in Texas,lived in Surrey with my British stepfather and mother and vacationed there often...I went to college in Mass., in the early 70s...hippie era. My professional workwear was preppy I was university faculty amd administration. Imlived on a sailnoat fpr a decade sailing the Caribbean NOT wearing RL nautical wear but more practical Lands End and Topsidders. Now in advamced retirement I wear lovely boho skirts with my RL blazers as well as slacks. I cover my boho dresses with RL ❤blazers and accessorize with western boots and belts with a real championship rodeo belt buckle. My Stetson hats for winter and straw hats for summer where I live abroad.
No dresses like I do and I enjoythat my clothing refelcts my life history. When someone comments on an item, I say well that is what I wore in college, or I grew up in Texas ranch country....I secretely know everything I wear reflects who I am so I am right at home in every single item. These arent costumes for me, they are my authentic life.

And where do you think Tommy Hilfiger and Barbour have their factories? Some of these brands might have had their original factories in Europe and still might have a few. But most of them have factories in China
If not for China, we’d be running around naked. ALL of these and many other brands are made in China. The quality of Chinese production varies greatly today and most of the cheaper clothing is now made in Vietnam, Bangladesh, etc.

Coach USED to be made solely in the U.S. I love the Coach vintage bags, pre 2000. Fabulous quality! 😍 Timeless style!
