    One of my favorite things about this show is how Din really is, in the grand scheme of things, a nobody. No major connections, no real “Destiny”, he’s kinda just a guy. Like, sure, Luke was a nobody, but we eventually learned that he was Vader’s son. I really think Din has no major connections to reveal, he’s just a simple man making his way through the galaxy with his kid, and I think that’s a good thing, makes it feel more special and unique in a weird kind of way, at least to me.

      Being a nobody has the advantage of not having to meet the expectations of others. Children of kings, nobles and large business owners are expected to take on the large responsibility as heirs. A nobody like Din is free to travel and have their own adventures. Most likely Din will forfeit the right to rule Mandalore and continue his adventure with Grogu.

      @freebird6591 Last episode Din has said he'd never been to Mandalore to Grogu. He was saved by Desth Watch from a planet during TCW and was brought and raised on Concordia, a moon of Mandalore where Death Watch resided

      @BigSeth1090 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      See, I agree that in terms of bloodline, Din is nobody. But where I think they’re going with him is that he becomes *the* Mandalorian. The example, the avatar, the epitome of what a Mandalorian *should* be. But Bo-Katan will be the political leader.
      I think they’re doing a Luke and Leia thing: one of them is the big damn hero, the icon, the figurehead, who wants nothing to do with power. The other is roughly-equal capability, but clever and with more leadership ability and the inclination to use it. With both of them, you check all the boxes for a major revolution.
      ETA: and then there’s Grogu, the hard-to-feel-out wildcard that’s ultimately a good dude (Han Solo, lol)
      ETA 2: I just made myself think… Greef is the Lando, trusted ally with his own small, independent power. The Armorer is the Yoda-style “master” character. R5 is an R2/3PO mashup. It’s not the same, but it rhymes.

    Just FYI;
    1. This episode was a great juxtaposition of the nuances between the First Order and New Republic .
    Things aren't always so black and white.
    Tarkin hooked Crosshair up to one of those; "Mind Flayers" in The Bad Batch, too.
    2. They were cataloging and documenting, (and saving inside their new Republic database,) whatever pertinent information contained within the Imperial tech before sending it off to be destroyed.
    I mean, that's literally what Dr. Pershing's job was.
    3. Plus; the thing with his ear, that's the ear that was nearly blown off when Cara Dune shot the Imperial pilot in the face, in the season two finale.
    It's fairly easy to imagine some lingering effects, which is also a pretty good demonstration of their attention to detail. (In my opinion.)

    The more I watch this show the more I wish the sequel trilogy never happened. So I didn't just think, oh the New Republic doesn't matter, cause when the First Order is a thing everyone against them is back to "the rebels" in tiny little groups with no united front or galactic government of any kind. Also Coruscant just gets unceremoniously blown up in like a 30 second scene along with a bunch of other planets, so it's not like they took the seat of power there, it was just another target.
    I can't even see how they built something the size of Starkiller base unless it's already started by now, not long after the Death Stars were destroyed, so how many of these doomsday weapons were just built over and over in parallel? Even that feels like a stretch. Would just be nice if everything after this stuff was yet to be discovered, not a trilogy made by a bunch of different people with no set roadmap laid out before it was started.

    In the world of Anime, "Filler" is used to describe original content produced to fulfill broadcast schedule. If the anime is based off a manga or other material, and the anime is catching up to the source material, filler episodes are used to ensure there will always be an episode come airtime.
    Filler is NOT anytime the focus shifts away from the main character. Based off everything we've seen so far, we're seeing this part of the Star Wars universe because it'll have relevance later on in the show: It's setup for future developments.

In S2E3, Din says the Nite Owls are not Mandalorian, thus they shouldn’t be allowed to wear their armor as they had no intention of bathing in the living waters. -She only talked about her father, and very highly at that. No mention has been made of the mother. It's possible the mother was more extreme and left for Concordia. Leaving Bo feeling bitter.
      -Emily Swallow (Armorer's VA), with her hair dyed platinum would bare a fitting enough resemblance to Satine.
      -She does not hold any sense of reverence to Bo's family history with Mandalore, and even seemed as close as she likely gets to being insistent on Bo joining the covert.
      Bo's reaction to her could be due to Bo simply not recognizing her.

    34:55 I'm a little surprised so many reactors missed this, but really surprised you guys did because you take such good notes. In "The Rescue" when Cara shot the pilot who was holding Pershing as a shield, the bolt was evidently close enough to his face to cause him injury, too. In the following scenes, you can see that his ear is burnt and it's bleeding. Obviously bacta healed it, but yeah, when he's pulling at his ear like that, he's either remembering how close he came to death at the NR's hands, or he's remembering how the Empire he served was willing to sacrifice him -- and his all-important research -- to save their own necks.
    Honestly, so much of the way the NR did things in the new canon (or rather, JJ Abrams' vision of it) makes no sense. To completely demilitarize is the kind of stupid mistake I would never expect from leaders as smart as Mon Mothma and Leia, especially when both of them are persuasive enough to talk the senate out of such an idiotic move.
    And in a version of the GFFA where Operation Cinder exists, the idea of taking in any Imps who were still serving after Cinder is just stupid. Cinder was the thing that separated the truly loyal, fanatical Imps from the ones who were serving a government that they thought was doing good things in the galaxy. Just like Alderaan getting blown up turned a lot of people to the Rebellion, Cinder turned lots of troops and citizens against the Empire. So anyone who was still serving this late in the game is truly in it to win it, and like the officer last season who committed suicide rather than be taken alive. No damn way was Kane ever redeemed; she is a double agent all the way, and I'm damn sure she is still working for Gideon and she probably helped aid his escape.

    I dont think Bo Katan is going to challenge Din. She has taken the darksaber without winning it and had it turn out HORRIBLY. She's not going to accept it on a technicality, like i said for last episode, this isn't harry potter. She isn't the darksabers owner because she beat the eyeball thing. Din has tried to just give it to her already, she has no reason to believe he wouldn't throw the fight. I think they are going towards a dual leadership type thing, if she can "tame" the mythosaur in some way (I think reopening the mine will be "taming" the mythosaur) then she is on par in status with the darksaber owner. Din can continue to be his badass self showing the rest of the galaxy the way while he does his thing and she remains on mandalor being their leader. Possibility of a romantic thing but im not sure how that would mesh with Din's persona, the one possible romantic connection we've seen he turned away because it would be settling down and abandoning his quest.

    It's really interesting to see how a ton of people interpreted Elia's motives differently. I saw some people say she erased Dr Pershing's memory for the New Republic cause, like following their orders. I saw some people say she did it for the Empire. That she betrayed Pershing, now that she didn't. To me, Elia on s2 seemed super loyal to Moff Gideon, so I'd tend to believe that she infiltrated the Amnesty program to either help save him (Gideon) or sent by Gideon (who would have the escaped like said at the beginning of the episode) to get rid of Pershing. On the other hand, I never saw Pershing really into the Empire. Like, more like a collaborator than a full-on n*zi if we have to do the comparison. And the Empire was just using him, like they used Jin's father on Rogue One for example, and they wouldn't mind getting rid of him to erase their traces if he serves no use to them anymore. That's how I read the episode, personally, Elia has infiltrated the New Republic, maybe only to get to Pershing, or maybe for more reasons than that, and she's taken Pershing's researches (to have them destroyed? To give them back to Gideon at some point?) and she got rid of Pershing, and that's it. Because if we gotta be honest, when would she have a real opportunity to join the Amnesty Program? Like sure, she was on Gideon's ship when Mando and the crew attacked at the end of s2, but does that mean then, that Cara brought the whole ship to the cops, and not just Moff Gideon, then? And contrary to Pershing, Elia never showed any hesitation in her loyalty towards Gideon in the screentime she had on s2 so idk, I feel like the end with the biscuit implied that she was still Imperial.

    I think it's funny because yesterday I straight up asked my friend "Do you think Bo Katan deserves a redemption arc?" And he flat out said "No." And now...now it feels like she's on her way there. But I hope the next episode actually mentions something about Death Watch because how did Din go from being rescued by Death Watch troopers to....being raised by another faction.

      While I really like Bo as a character (and love Katee obviously), I feel this in my bones lol. Both me and my dad, who watched all of TCW and Rebels, did the monkey meme side-eye to each other when Bo was going on about Mandos senselessly killing each other for reasons beyond understanding. [SPOILERS AHEAD!] Certainly an interesting critique coming from the same person who helped enact a coup against her peace-loving sister. 😂
      Anyways, we now have a running bet over whether Bo is finally experiencing some self-reflection or just living in a whole different galaxy mentally than the rest of us.
      Rooting for her to get her shit together lol.

      I wasn't even disparaging coups to begin with. I specifically referenced Bo waxing maudlin over Mandalorians killing each other needlessly when she herself helped orchestrate a very violent coup against her own sister, whose literal goal was to stop the fighting. Girl skipped hypocrisy and went straight to gaslighting herself at lightspeed.
      That being said, two things:
      1. I like Bo as a character. A lot. She's a badass and smooth af, even taking her early onset dementia into account. (Such as demanding to know where Din was when Mandalore fell, considering he was - what, like NINE at the time? And not even a foundling yet, if I'm getting the timeline right lol.)
      2. If you believe the Dutchess made Mandalorians weak, that's fine. I have nothing to argue and don't even disagree, really. But it has nothing to do with my original comment whatsoever.

    This was legit my favorite episode of this entire series so far. The fan service in season 2 was a blast, but the worldbuilding and development on both sides of the narrative in this episode was next level, I thought. The Coruscant stuff had serious Andor vibes. Truly tremendous episode, I thought.

    Bo Katan is absolutely going to double-cross Din. She’s not actually converting, she’s in “observation” mode and is waiting for her moment to ride the mythosaur and get the Darksaber.
    Din is going to reject her as leader, and become an outcast.

    I think that THE Mandalorian of this show is right now Din, BUT it's creating The path to Grogu being the one. I'd like Bo to tame the Mythosaur and Din to keep the dark saber, and in years in the future, Grogu gets both, since his species outlive them by centuries, I think we will eventually follow Grogu's life in Star wars carrying the ways of the jedi and the mandalorians.

    • @arthuralves904

      This show may be the beggining of something that we've never seen before in Star Wars. I think we are gonna see something like Doctor Who, ykwim? Years and years and years of many aventure-se with a main character, being this one Grogu. Asokah, Mando and Boba shows maybe are just the beginning. Maybe we will follow Grogu through the main future stories in Star Wars universe, instead of new movies, but when it comes to the past, before episode 1, we could see new shows with new characters, in Old Republic and stuff. Even Yoda, imagine we follow both, Yoda until the events of the movies, and maybe we will see some connection between Yoda and Grogu through both characters stories. Maaaan, my mind is going wild LOL. That's one thing that I like about all of this

    i 100% agree with Eric on what filler is. most people these days definitely dont use it right. if it's just about character development, people will say it's filler because it doesn’t move the story along. if it's about a story that doesn’t necessarily pertain to the main overall plot, people will call that filler. If it focuses on anyone but the main character, people will call it filler. _they are all wrong._ character development and side plots are almost never filler, especially if it changes something or someone in some way, even if that someone is not a main character.

    *We got 2 episodes for the price of one!* The half with Dr. Pen Pershing and Elia Kane was VERY intriguing. I actually did believe at the end that Elia had Pen’s back but then she upped the voltage on that mind flayer and then just stared at him with those scary ass eyes. My theory is that she is trying to break Pen’s faith in the New Republic by making it seem like they are torturing him while she takes advantage of his naïveté. Omid Abtahi and Katy O’Brian definitely stole the show this episode. I hope they get more roles out of this. Also Pershing is sadly the most vulnerable and tragic type of scientist, the kind that loves the science and wants to use it for good but gets manipulated into having their research used for evil purposes.
    As for Din and Bo, now that Bo is essentially homeless and Din has redeemed himself in the eyes of his sect of Mandalorians I’m very interested in seeing where he goes from here. And Bo has now been “redeemed” since she has also bathed in the living waters (which I’m very curious about those waters because that glow was very alarming) and since she is now back with a new clan what’s her next move? I honestly think she isn’t telling anyone about the Mythosaur because she doesn’t entirely believe herself. It would be like you you saw a woolly mammoth, no one would really believe you!
    Also some Fun Facts on Katy O’Brian: she’s a lifelong martial artist who then became a cop, who then became a bodybuilder, who then became an actress. And as she has said on twitter and Instagram (where she posts tons of pics of her crazy toned body and of her wife) she is a massive dork. I think I’m in love 😍.

    I've watched several reactions and one thing that keeps being brought up is how the amnesty program uses numbers instead of names. I don't think that it is necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people in their situation might not want to use their real names in public due to retaliation, blackmail, etc.

    • @ElocinMuse
      @ElocinMuse ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it was a detail those in the program chose for themselves, then I would agree. But to me it was pretty clear it wasn't by choice. And even then, they could simply go by a different name.
      The reason it's so abysmal and A Very Bad Sign™️ is because stripping a living person of their identity and reducing them to a number (or statistic) is horrifically dehumanizing. You're erasing their personhood. Most notably, this was an infamous method of cataloging Jewish prisoners in internment camps, used by the Nazis. They viewed Jewish people as being subhuman and would forcibly tattoo numbers into their arms like branding livestock.
      Any time a government body or organization seeks to assign a number to its citizens, it's considered a humongous red flag for this very reason (among many others similar in outcome).
      Your confusion seemed genuine, so my intention isn't to dogpile you here, in case that's the impression I'm giving. Just answering sincerely in kind. I know tone can be lost over the ol' interwebs. 💜

      @glittermasterofarrakis6730 ปีที่แล้ว

      @elliemuze No problem with the info, and I know all of the history involved with that type of processing of people. I was just saying that it might not be for the same reason in this case. I personally would not want my name used in public if I had done some horrendous things that I was trying to make up for. To protect both myself and maybe family. We are judging a program based on very little evidence. I would like to think that once people were done with the program, then they could use their name or choose a new one if they wanted to.

    • @ElocinMuse
      @ElocinMuse ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glittermasterofarrakis6730 Oh, that I did understand from your original comment for sure - that it was done with a different (or less vile) intention. What the Nazis did is perhaps the most extreme example of such a practice, but the practice itself is historically of ill repute for a reason, regardless of how noble the intentions behind it are. I should have clarified that better.
      And I agree that they'd want to pass under the radar, no doubt, but being reduced to a number still very much wasn't a choice they themselves made. That, plus every other contextual clue such as habitual automated interactions with the non-emotive droid instead of a living person and forced invasive procedures are all huge red flags in real life as well as fiction. That is, if rehabilitation is actually the desired outcome, which the New Republic is claiming to be the case. (Though we do know the First Order lurks beneath the surface at this point, too, and have perhaps already infiltrated various branches of government.)
      TLDR: The majority of what we witnessed on screen in terms of the Amnesty Program are all massive red flags in the real world in terms of humane treatment, psychological studies, statistics, and relevant sociological experiments. Regardless how sincere their intentions may be, they've thus far broken just about every moral code of ethics in the book. All on the first episode of its showcase lol. The showrunners/writers, imo, portrayed this program and its unnerving lack of merits in a very deliberate light. But that's my own observation, and it's very interesting to see what each individual takes away from it.
      (Also, "GlitterMaster" is a superb name. I don't know the context, but 12/10. 👏 Haven't seen the new Dune yet, but my brain is associating Arrakis with it. Rip to my nerd badge if I'm way off base and many apologies. 😛💜)
