4:05 was really impressive. Aba gets bursted out and is about to run out of meter, but he is still able to confirm a stray hit into getting more than half of the jealously gauge back in normal mode
**Long post ahead** If you enjoy Gobou's Asuka gameplay, then perhaps you should check this post out. For those who despise Asuka and believe the character is broken, then I would keep scrolling. Recently, the topic regarding if Gobou will stick with A.B.A. or even switch mains has come up; I will preface by stating how Gobou appears to feel about A.B.A. as a character in GGST: When they first played the character, they mentioned that the character was the most fun they have had in a _long_ _time_ . Moreover, when asked what they like about A.B.A., Gobou mentioned that he likes _everything_ about A.B.A. - the character (lore-wise), the concept, character design, and playstyle/character strength. And for those who don't know, Gobou's original GGST name was Blood Mummy (in katakana), and someone in Gobou's chat mentioned that A.B.A. is also blood mummy, and Gobou agreed. What I'm trying to get at, is that A.B.A. appears to be Gobou's type of character, just like Zato, Goldlewis, and Asuka were. In addition to that, Gobou said that A.B.A. is reasonably strong (meaning, not broken, but definitely not weak); and that you need to manage your Moroha gauge using tricks and strategy. Another thing that I'd like to point out, is that Gobou said A.B.A. is recommended for beginners, and that in Moroha Mode, this character does everything that Giovanna does, but better. Meaning, this character (in Moroha Mode) has amazing whiff punishes, high damaging combos, great ground-to-air conversions, fast normals, etc. It should be noted that Gio is widely considered as top/S tier in Asia, so if Gobou is saying she is better than Gio in Moroha Mode, she is very close to, if not the best character in the game in Moroha mode - for example, if she had something like Asuka's Mana regeneration, but for the Moroha Mode gauge, I think she would be the first broken character this game has had. Regarding Gobou's Asuka: This topic came up in Gobou's chat recently, and several people asked him if they were going to continue playing A.B.A.; Gobou stated that they would continue playing A.B.A. until at least the next patch (they said this pretty early on), and will also enter AWT/EVO Japan using the character. So, you're probably wondering, "What about Gobou's Asuka"? Well, someone asked Gobou this question (in Japanese), "Will we see more of Asuka on stream later?" - Gobou's response to that was, *"A.B.A. looks like a long-term commitment."* With that being said, it does appear that Gobou has indeed switched mains again. I understand that nobody should be playing for a particular viewer and this may sound selfish, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I wasn't a little disappointed that we won't see the greatest Asuka player of all time use that character for the foreseeable future... I'm really not trying to jump to conclusions or make assumptions, but one might deduce that this stemmed from what happened at Arc World Tour this year. Gobou appeared to be very disappointed in his performance (not making top 8), and said that he could not have predicted that in his wildest dreams (again, not making top 8). Moreover, I think this is also worth mentioning, but when asked "What is the hardest part of GGST?" - Gobou's response was, *"staying motivated against hard matchups >most difficult thing".* Despite the fact that Gobou has never downplayed any of his characters, they did bring up Asuka's bad match-ups a lot during streams, so perhaps that's another reason why they appear to be shelving the character for the time being. He also mentioned from time to time that Asuka was exhausting to play; and certain match-ups (e.x. vs Sin) were very stressful to play. Maybe they're trying to have fun, while also making things easier on themselves? Also, I don't think any Asuka player - including Gobou, likes the concept of "highest defense modifier in the game with the Mana Shield," and "lowest defense modifier in the game with no special moves without the Mana Shield;" it does help balance the character out, but the reason it's in the game in the first place is because Asuka is a weakling in the lore. Furthermore, Gesui, the 2nd best Asuka user after Gobou, has now gone back to Leo, according to ratingupdate. I honestly think it has something to do with Arc World Tour, and Gobou's match vs. Tempest. No disrespect to Leo players, but the fact that Gobou was out there busting a blood vessel with his strategy and extremely high APM, trying to play solitaire against Tempest, and the fact that they simply used Leo's DP and 6P at the right times to invalidate all of that, and used backturn stance - which is hard to defend against, to seal the deal can be a tough pill to swallow. But to conclude my post, either A.B.A. is relatively close to Asuka's character strength, or perhaps Gobou lost faith in the character after Arc World Tour. Because Gobou said they've been playing fighting games for 18 years; so, with that being said, they're not going to essentially drop a character as a competitive player just because they like another character more that might be weaker. I guess the silver lining to all of this is that Gobou's A.B.A. will force people to stop downplaying Moroha Mode, so there's that. TL;DR: Gobou has switched to A.B.A. as their current main, at least until the patch with Slayer drops, and did not mention when they will play Asuka again. If Asuka gets nerfed again, then the Asuka GOAT may never play him again...
It's too early imo to truly gauge A.B.A's viability. I think she is definitely better than most people are giving her credit for (definitely not bottom 1 like some people are saying), but it's too early to say if she's going to be a high tier character through proper optimization, or if people will better learn to exploit her weaknesses and A.B.A. players will hit a brick wall. I think whether or not Gobou ends up fully switching will depend on where her meta is being taken. I think she has a lot of potential, but to the extent of which I am not so certain.
Gobou reading A.B.A as not an incredibly weak character checks out. I feel like it might end up being another Daru I-no situation, where the very best and most committed players can make them look incredibly strong, even while most other players might devalue and put them in lower tiers. I am very happy to hear that Gobou will stick with her for a little while longer since his gameplay is definitely super interesting, and something that I myself want to try and replicate,. I'm only floor 5 right now so I've got quite the way to go but I'm slowly but surely working on it
Elphelt: What are you talking about? I'm married and happily too! And we are the cutest couple that has ever existed, right dear? Nagoriyuki: LEAVE ME ALONE!!
Goatbu leaving anyone saying ABA is bottom tier in ridiculus yet again, "she is not that good" or "she is thrash out of install", they are just showing they are downright bad and don't understand nor fg nor this characters, it happen with Goldlewis it Happened with Asuka R, and is happening with ABA.
Both characters I'm playing recently on screen. And yet, despite the players, I feel like this match-up is kinda Aba-favored. Doesn't seem too awful tbh, especially when 6P can beat Elphelt's rekka start.
Imo it seems evenly matched. If an Elphelt can keep some good pressure on A.B.A they can get at least a few good wins against her. Though it does lean more into an A.B.A win most of the time, purely because she's rushdown most of the time, while Elphelt has much more range but also rushdown at times.
I'm also just thinking about, how in JR mode, Aba is in clear advantage over Elphelt, assuming she didn't slip up and Elphelt managed to sneak in a hit (but that goes without saying regardless of who Aba fights). And even in normal mode, Elphelt at range isn't that great. If you see she's about to shoot, that's free meter for Aba to just use her command counter.
I learned elphelt in xrd after learning about the series through strive. I was really excited to see her announced. I'm just a little sad that they took her in a completely different direction than they did in the previous game. She's still fun, I just wish she got taken in a different direction. She still has 6h tho so I'm happy.
am i the only one who thinks aba actually isnt too bad outside of jealous rage? shes way better in it, dont get me wrong, but normal aba is still solid if you know what youre doing
i honestly dont stay in jelous rage for long against long zone characters like bridget and axel due to normal mode having lots of range and better defensive options
This character makes me want to get into the game. Can someone tell me how much should I spend if I want to get the game with all the current characters?

You know, I might be growing unable to play anime styled fighting games. It's cute and nice characters (who thanks to story modes I know to be good people) being punched, kicked and hurt in another hundred ways; it's getting hard to watch and listen to
This is the most terrifying Aba I've seen yet.
Like, this ain't feast or famine, it's a 24-hour all you can eat buffet and Gobou is HUNGRY.
kinda feels like its always like that when they can RC more often once they get the offense started
Rule one of playing against Gobou: don't let them get a hit in
Well he doesn’t have to back down. Look who he’a fighting.
Gobou's combo routing with A.B.A. is really impressive.
