Two of the greatest improvisers in baroque-style meet in Groningen. That can't be a coincidence! 😉 Beautiful video. It would be wonderful if you could ever give a duo-improvisation concert with Sietze!
VERY interesting comment by Sietze on why the organ (with relatively many stops for such a building), is voiced so powerfully, that (large) congregations of the time sang equally powerfully!
As a clergyman/choirmaster I fully appreciate this remark. Also, at 80, and with our churches here in USA still closed, I sorely miss the majestic music of the church, and deeply appreciate these demonstrations and hymns-of-the-day, with organ improvisations which so wonderfully sustain my faith in these troubled times. Profound thanks for sharing these uplifting videos and your remarkable talent !!!
I remember reading on a World Record Club sleeve in the '60s that the magnificence of the great organs of Alkmaar and Haarlem were the result of a competitive spirit between the two municipalities! Such an attitude all over the Netherlands would have been a very congenial one for organ builders, especially the best ones!
Oh wow!! Two fabulous organists playing a glorious instrument!!🌺 Thank you Balint, for another excellent demonstration. Your musical examples are so wonderful... they really highlight the beautiful registrations this instrument has to to offer. It’s a such a joy to learn from you. Thank you!!🌺😊🎶🌷
Thank you so much Sietze and Balint for this very interesting discussion and demonstration. Two respected and great organists together! For me always an inspiration to listen to you. Greetings from Pretoria, South Africa.
Loved the organ. Appreciated your improvisations. The BWV 550 was great. A little organ that sounds like a big boy. Has the power and the clarity to keep up to a nice big prelude by the Old Master. Hoping you recorded the traditional fugue on the Hinz as well! I always enjoy your videos Balint. Thanks for making them and sharing!
Thank you for taking the time to make these carefully edited and informative videos of places we (I) will never go and organs many will never hear in person. Your stop by stop demonstration and listing registrations is appreciated. We have not seen you in a while. Happy haircut!
Nice coincidences: last time you put the organ of Zamárdi on TH-cam (I'm living 5 kms from there); Leens was the place were my great-grandparents once lived. The Hinsz organ in St Peter's Church in Leens is awesome!
At this very moment the Hinsz-organ is completely dimantled because of large-scale maintenance works, wich are done by Orgelmakers Reil, Heerde, Netherlands.
Hinsz had his own workshop in Groningen before marrying the widow of Frans Casper Schnitger in 1732, after which he may have taken over the Zwolle workshop as well.
What is that quick little demonstration Mr. Sietze de Vries played on the plenum with quintadena?? I am sure it’s improvisation, but I am struck by that arppegio run at the end!! Btw, a truly wonderful and lovely video of the organ!!
Such a magical moment when Sietze starts playing on full organ - he's correct, what a beautiful, rugged sound! Hopefully this doesn't get smoothed over after the restoration as some (well-meaningly) over-restored organs can be.
Stunning playing, as always. And wonderful demonstration. Just as a point of taste: does anyone really actually "like" the sound of these quirky 18th Century Dutch curiosity-boxes? The ensemble sounds like a combination of dentist drills, lawn-mowers, kazoos, and down-shifting 18 wheelers. Imagine having to listen to this every single week in some carpeted church. LOL!
Pitty you didn't do a quick demo of the amazing Mense Ruiter positive. I played it several times and it is such an adorable gorgeous little instrument.
Such a delightful start of a new week: Two of my favorite organ players in one video on a brilliant Dutch organ. Very nicely done and hopefully many more to come. I wonder when this video was shot? It mentions at the start the restauration which is taken place this year, so last year? Best, Ruud
Nice to see you playing by us in the Netherlands with a great colleague. When do you come in Gouda, Sint Janskerk? There's a beautiful three manual Moreau-organ.
Joannes Couchet i hope it’s been re-casted...with a minor tin percentage to better resist to climate and temperature changes inside and outside this small sized church
I very much enjoyed the demonstration and the recital, that is, after I had recovered from the seasickness induced by the violent waving of the camera beforehand. Please don't do that.
The sheer SPEED of that scale at 4:26 though. Holy crap!
That smile after a new stop is opened. Priceless
Sietze is a great organist, and a very charming man! I had a wonderful experience on an organ tour of the northern Netherlands, with him as our guide.
Couldn't agree more!
@@bkarosi Of course, your demos are always superb as well!!
I saw the small positive organ and I was like oh quaint and cute small organ on a small church
Then the camera turns and holy Jesus on a bicycle!

Good idea, who knows!
Instablaster.
Thank you Balint for archiving these sounds of these organs, and especially this organ befóre the restauration!
What a phenomenal sound!!
Lovely.
Does anyone know more about Dutch organs than Mr. de Vries? What a treat to have him introduce the organ.

What fantastic musicians and splendid instrument
Wonderful!

Pieter, dus jij kent de Gereformeerde Gemeente in Nederland wel in Pretoria, en dominee Weststrate!?
The involvement of local organists Comes as a great benefit to your presentations!
Thanks for exploring and sharing. Enjoy you playing.
Really appreciate the chance to see and hear these organs of the past. They are unique to their time, with wonderful voicing, and interesting stops.

I feel like I am there with you. So nice to see both of you together. Thank you for this fabulous video. With love from Australia!
Thanks for a lovely presentation and wonderful playing on this gem! :)
I have always loved the sound of this organ, thank you Bálint!
I really like the differentiation and the use of the various stops by the visiting organist. It is not all sound and fury usually applied!
Thank you very much for this....from Vancouver, Canada.
Stunning ❤

Once again... splendid!
Astonishing instrument.Thanks for the video.
Very beautiful organ, sound and all.
Nagyon Szép!Köszönöm Szépen!
아름다운 화음! 건반 달그락 거리는 소리까지 전부 아주 아름답네요 :)
The ultimate crossover of organists 😜
Sietze always has such a nice beard
Yes!
Yeah, it's pretty epic. lol
Looks just Zwolle. Just wonderful
prachtige orgel.
Excellent video! Thanks!
Thanks!
Great interpretation 💕🎹
A templom és az orgona bemutatása, a szép barokk zene együtt csodálatos barokk hangulatot teremt! Köszönöm a föltöltést!

Impressive, suddenly struck by this beautiful pan shot of the instrument.
Marcel Magnus - you saved me saying it!
Geweldig, heel mooi!
amazing
This organ "slaps", as the kids say.

My favorite part is 12:20
That inlaid star above the manuals reminds me of an almost identical one on a little single-manual Fleischer harpsichord, from the same period!
Such a delightful start of a new week: Two of my favorite organ players in one video on a brilliant Dutch organ. Very nicely done and hopefully many more to come. I wonder when this video was shot? It mentions at the start the restauration which is taken place this year, so last year?
Best, Ruud
Thanks so much Ruud! It was shot in July 2019

Lots of music left in that organ!
Please who knows the title of the musical piece played at 4:56?

@@bkarosi Thank you
Restoration needed? This instrument is magical.
Yes, the organ needs a restore. It can be seen also the tin plague in the upper pipework en façade
The facade pipework is from the 1920's if I remember correctly. It's being revoiced this restoration too.
Joannes Couchet i hope it’s been re-casted...with a minor tin percentage to better resist to climate and temperature changes inside and outside this small sized church
Wonderful! Thank you. But suddenly SO many adverts 😱 The price of TH-cam fame, I guess 🙄😁
only sitting - - - with and without the ads :D
👍
Hi! What is the opening song?
Nice video, organ and improvisations. But there are to many ads on the video.
Did you do some improvisation with Sietze together?
TH-cam subscription = no ads 👍
Were 32’ praestants common on organs built by Schnitger? Why do they in the manual instead of pedal in some organs?
I’m confused; are there two organs here?
Yes, the big main-organ (Hinsz) and the small Choir-organ.
3 actually
