Produced by Borscht Corporation and Anchor Light
    Lyrics
    Those cool kids
    Stuck in the past
    Apartments of cigarette ash
    Wait outside until it begins
Won't be the first ones in
Spend your life waiting in line
You find it hard to define
But you do it every time
    Then you do it again
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    First kiss tastes like cigarettes
Dead man walking take your bets
Once again you lost your friends
    Around and around again
    Those cool kids
    Stuck in the past
    Apartments of cigarette ash
    "Where are we going?"
    Who did you ask?
    Those cool kids
    Stuck in the past
In a world of cigarette ash
    "Where are we going?"
    Who did you ask?
    Who did you ask?
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
    Friday, Saturday, sometimes Sunday
Love is hard, sex is easy
God in Heaven, could you please me?
    You think you invented life
You find it hard to define
But you do it every time
    Then you do it again
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
Still looking for signs of life (Looking for signs of life)
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    Those cool kids
    Stuck in the past
In a world of cigarette ash
    "Where are we going?"
    Who did you ask?
    Who did you ask?
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    (Still looking)
    Looking for signs of life
    (Signs of life)
Still looking for signs of life
    (Signs of life)
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again
    Looking for signs of life
    Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
    So we do it again

They took a chance with this album and IMO it paid off huge. It's pretty hard to be original in this day and age but Arcade Fire continues to push the envelope with their creativity and raw talent.

Why is everybody complaining that Arcade Fire changed? David Bowie changed his sound with every record, Björk and Radiohead did, The Beatles, U2... That's what seperates great artists from mediocre ones and keeps it interesting. They could easily record another indierock-album. But why should they?

    • @Brian-cp2le
      @Brian-cp2le 7 ปีที่แล้ว +33

But when those artists changed they actually made good music. Change doesn't mean it's good

Malcolm Z I don't think arcade fire fans complain of change, since funeral every single album had changed sound the problem is a lot of people myself Included think the new singles sound boring and lacking the good songwriting we love from arcade fire

Some of those artists made new music that was good music. AF's EN is not good or entertaining music.

I didn't fall in love with this song upon my first listen, but now two days later me and my boyfriend are loving it! I love how Arcade Fire is never scared to change their sound or style. Even with all the whining fans they always stay true to themselves which results in them making real genuine MUSIC.

@James Tennant Really? Most people I know tend to complain that Electric Blue to WDDL is the best part of the album.
The reason the album is so polarizing is the reason I think it's destined to be reevaluated down the line.

i spent an hour and a half translating the arrow language/webdings... i kid you not, what they say (the 'truth') at the end is 'jet fuel can't melt... ... steel beams'
it is likely referencing conspiracy theorists. overall great video, great song, and nice little reference
edit: definitely referencing it, as at 1:10 if you go frame-by-frame on the TV in the background you can find George W. Bush and footage of the September 11 attacks

excellent. there's plenty of esoteric coding in this (black and white alchemy, freemason square and compass (which is a symbol for sex/alchemy), voodoo, etc). that this was filmed in florida is no coincidence. florida was the first state to be colonized (by the spanish, so we're told). this video is an overt reference to project blue beam. the lyrics, i think, are directed at the "truth movement." "welcome to satya yuga." welcome to the truth age.

Anthony McKenna well... jet fuel cannot melt steel beams .. many music videos hint at 9/11 being an inside job ( because it was ) and project blue beam.. they are trying to tell us without actually telling us. Soon they will tell us aliens have come and shit will really hit the fan. People need to pick up the Bible and study the book of Revelation.

Explain? How is it good in your opinion? I thought this one was pretty repetitive to listen to, which is never good for music, even if that was what the song's about.

    • @clugaman
      @clugaman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

People are overreacting to the max. Is it a classic? No. Is it as good as the other two singles so far? No. Is it repetitive? Sure, but it's far far far from bad. It's a decent track. I bet in the context of the album it'll get even better as well. IMO from the 3 singles so far I think this album is shaping up to be better than both Neon Bible and Reflektor.
It's funny, on the other two singles the comments are all "Arcade Fire is the best band of the 10's!" and "Arcade Fire never disappoints!" but they release one track that's not as good and all of a sudden "Arcade Fire have been on a downward spiral!!!". What?

The evolution of this band is just amazing. Every song, every word resonates with my soul. I love, love, love AF and I can't wait to see them in Austin. To quote Win, "you're not trying to make music to please everyone. You just have to make it for yourself." And that's what makes this band amazing. My daughter, who is now 8, has been brought up on Arcade Fire and this album is by far her favorite. She already knows every word to Put Your Money on Me!

    • @kylesturrock
      @kylesturrock 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey. Love Arcade Fire too! It is amazing how they have stuck together and how they have evolved as a band- doing it their own way and not succumbing to pop music influence or trying to put out the same style of record every time. I love that they try to put out albums that are thematic and often include a social /cultural commentary from their own viewpoint. I don't believe enough of the music that is widely played today does that.
Oh yeah, why I'm replying is that my kids (7 and 10) also have been raised on arcade fire. They also love this album. Their fav is creature comfort(although they dont understand the lyrics just yet- a good thing). I gotta go with we don't deserve love.
My wife mostly listens to top 40 and pop music when she's with the kids; which is fine. But I personally feel like it's my responsibility to expose them to some of the best bands and lyricists of contemporary and past music. They are well versed in of course arcade fire, the Beatles, Bowie, Bob Marley, Dylan, Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and many others.
I find it very fortunate that in today's era the music greats from today and the past are so easily accessible and that I am able to expose my kids to this music. Music that has meaning and depth and can touch your emotions and heart.
Going to see AF in November in Toronto. So excited. Best band live!
Good god damn I rambled... never do replies on TH-cam but totally felt I could relate with you! Anyways, take it ez and keep playing good music for your daughter! Peace and love from Toronto, Canada to you down in Texas!

Ive been there since Their first EP and I have to say I'm fucking glad they change their style with every album. I feel like a lot of people view The Suburbs as their peak which is fair but I admire their evolution and not giving a fuck attitude towards fans who refuse to accept change. If you don't like it, fine, but get over yourself when it comes to objectively bullshit nonsense by deciding its bad because it doesn't jive with you.

To all those idiots on here saying this sounds dead or boring. It's a song on AN ALBUM. Remember? An album. A bunch of songs that go to together in a set order to create an album, possibly a story (but not necessarily) - a piece of work. This sounds great to me, funky even. Looking forward to this album. This sounds fantastic.

Kick ass track ! Videos kinda like a modeling shoot mixed with fictional story line on exposing some sort of mysterious truth. Quick shots are intense and deliberate. The band arcade fire appears only in the monitor while the investigation continues. The fast paced action makes a lot of people miss a lot of the good stuff within the video. All in all this is a great song and I like when they use kind of outside story line videos for mirrors

      Those cool kids
      Stuck in the past
      Apartments of cigarette ash
      Wait outside until it begins
Won't be the first ones in
Spend your life waiting in line
You find it hard to define
But you do it every time
      Then you do it again
      Looking for signs of life
      Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
      So we do it again
      Looking for signs of life
      Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
      So we do it again
      First kiss tastes like cigarettes
Dead man walking take your bets
Once again you lost your friends
      Around and around again
      Those cool kids
      Stuck in the past
      Apartments of cigarette ash
      "Where are we going?"
      Who did you ask?
      Those cool kids

      Looking for signs of life
      Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
      So we do it again
      Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
      Friday, Saturday, sometimes Sunday
Love is hard, sex is easy
God in heaven, could you please me?
      You think you invented life
You find it hard to define
But you do it every time
      Then you do it again
      Looking for signs of life
      Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
      So we do it again
Still looking for signs of life (Looking for signs of life)
      Looking for signs every night
But there's no signs of life
      So we do it again
