    HERE'S HOW:
Today, as you pray the Lord’s prayer, let your need, confusion, pain, or your gratitude bring you back to the Father. Remember that He’s all around you. He’s near, and the universe lives within Him.

Glen Scrivener starts his book, “The Air We Breathe,” with this fish/water illustration to make the point that we’re often unaware of how deeply imbedded the surrounding culture is within ourselves. We go about our daily lives not recognizing how or to what extent the waters we swim in have shaped us.
But I love this idea that GOD is our water! He is my life source, my home, and my means of agency. This world- with all its troubles, customs, beauty, etc- is merely the temporary fish bowl. But God is the water, the environment I can thrive in- not just while in this mortal home, but for all eternity.

I see a fish removed from the water, gasping for it’s necessary environment. I’m grateful to be aware that God’s presence is my natural environment.

In this difficult aging process, when I feel alone more often, I will remember the phrase "this is water". God is all around me always.

I am reminded that most often I am like a fish swimming in water who blithely goes thru life without recognizing that my very existence is dependent on the air that I breathe is everywhere and ultimately a gift from God.

I love this quote “Prayer is the burden of a sigh, The falling of a tear, The upward glancing of an eye, When none but God is near.” James Montgomery, Scottish Poet, 1771-1854 Thank you John for your Sweet Baxter and your passion and compassion. 🐾❤️

I always tell myself that even though I don't feel the air about me, it's still there. So is my heavenly Father, always with me even when I don't feel Him.

I find the fish in water illustration so soothing as I am one that often has little awareness or feeling about God‘s presence but with this illustration, I am comforted that God does not require my awareness to be there in order for him to be there sustaining me

Wonderful illustration of/for us who “ live and move and have our being” in Him! Good ‘picture’-even better truth!

When John called it the "spiritual reality", the fish story came together for me.

This fish story reflects the ease with which we can go along, unaware of God on our surroundings and daily lives. We need guidance and wisdom from our elders to bring us into the awareness.

So often, I forget my surroundings and those around me. Yes, I’m not a good swimmer and perhaps that’s why my relationship with God is so chaotic at times. Oh, I know I always need Him but sometimes I jump in the water as if I were an Olympic champion and, of course, I sink and He comes to my help immediately and it’s then that I realize that I’m Nothing without Him. But then soon enough I jump of the highest board into the deepest depths of the pool and….🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The spiritual is not physical, but it is real... the universe is inside God. This is water; this is life forevermore.

I love the water analogy as it's easy to forget it's there since its clear, but it's life-sustaining.

Thanks John, ☆ for bringing Baxter to work today. What a blessing dogs can be. Labs are usually as at home in the water as they are on land.
When we're communing with God we're at home, no matter where we are.
    Thanks friends💞🐕

So grateful for b/n! Watched this twice today; once in the morning and again in the afternoon when emotions were kicking me around. John’s gentle ways, God’s great truth, Baxter in the background, and deeply encouraging comments got me to the other side. I sent the devo to a friend who’s been out of work for a month. Water, water, water! He’s in it all; even while He’s carrying the universe! TY, everyone.

I once read that when we say Yahweh without the vowels it’s like the sound breath. This story reminds me that God breathed life into me and is always around me!

So True! I can walk out the door in the morning finding my way to the car then wherever I'm headed surrounded by God's majesty, fully in it but still oblivious to it. Gotta remember to stop an appreciate it ! Thanks for the reminder.

I'd like to tell you this. My earthly father was not a father to me. Not long ago I realized I don't listen to men because of no father. Then the brightest light hit me. I have the greatest father they a child would need and want. Then I apologized to God for not listening. I never had to answer to my real father and not many men for that matter. Now my thoughts have changed knowing that I have the greatest father in the whole world with me.
