Can't believe any Burnley fan with any grasp of our history could seriously suggest that we're the smallest club in the Premier League. More top flight seasons than Bournemouth, Watford, Swansea, Brighton and Crystal Palace put together, more league titles than Leicester, Bournemouth, West Ham, Southampton, Watford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Swansea and Stoke put together. We're doing fantastically well for saying we've got no outside backer but smallest club in the Premier League? Don't put our great club down like that.
Yeah I was surprised when he said that Burnley were a founding team of the original first Division and a top team way back in the day. You beat my team Liverpool in the 1914 fa cup
Brighton and Palace have no major trophies between them and about one fifth of the top flight seasons Burnley have had between them. All depends on your criteria but both teams would love to have our history.
My brothers a Burnley fan from Darlington. They’ve got fans outside Lancashire. Nobody in our family is from anywhere outside the North east yet he chose Burnley
How does wearing a Dortmund jacket make him a plastic fan? Surely if he wore a Burnley jacket but only turned up at big games that would make him plastic
He just trying to say if you not from there town and support there team, you are a plastic fan.your team is your team no matter wherever in the world you are.i like Lakers basketball team am not from us.am a fan.
I absolutely love watching Burnley, the way they’re making a name for themselves deserves nothing but huge respect, the board have done fantastic keeping on to one of the best managers in Europe I’d say, like they say bringing in players that fit is style can be tough and sometimes to work out but he’s always getting it right, he’s built a team with Fuck all considering the money in football nowadays. There’s too many positives at Burnley at the moment, I want Sean to come to Arsenal once he’s finished his project, think there’s a big chance he would stay put too. Good luck Burnley though.
Big mistake for Sean to go to a club like Arsenal, a few bad results the fans would want him out, giving him verbal abuse. Burnley fans get behind their team even through bad patches..We are patient and tolerant, maybe the expectations aren't there with us.
As a leicester fan I actually really hope youvlot hey Europe rather than us. Our passion had slightly died down and now we are becoming a typical club who just cares about buying big players. Respect to you lot
Us Icelanders have been doing this since 2013 where we nearly missed out on making it to the World Cup. Then we did pretty well at the Euro's as most English fans will know and now we are at the World Cup in Russia! No wonder one of the key men in the Burnley team is Icelandic :)
The highest compliment I can pay a team is this “I fucking hate playing Burnley.” Huge amount of respect of what’s being built at the club. Sincerely a Liverpool fan.
Burnley reminds me how my local team wolverhampton is , similar clubs rising, and been a sort of yoyo teams over past years but both teams are on a rise you lot are the best in the league this year apart from top 6 and we are buying loads of portuguese talant as we are on a rise , both teams also have a rich history.
The problem with Burnley this season is their growing list of injuries that cost them Wood, Defour, Brady and even Heaton near the beginning of the season. Before the injuries started to affect Burnley, they were actually fairing well against the big six. As it currently stands, Burnley have not won a single match in their last 10 games despite sitting in 7th which is a testament to their initial success, but it looks like Everton or Leicester will be taking that final spot to the Europa League.
Just based on the Stadium alone, the smallest club in the Premier League is Bournemouth. And big props to them. Not only they have not been relegated since they came up, they have managed to consistently end up in the upper half of the mid-table. Also they have by far the most promising English manager.
Unnamed Shadow I can see them pushing for Europa League at some point if they don't fuck things up. Maybe I'm jumping the gun there but they have been making progress every year and have an excellent setup.
One of the reasons why Burnley have been succeeding is because they have an owner who isn't trigger happy, unlike owners at other clubs. I like Burnley, I like what they stand for. They haven't made any rash decisions in the boardroom, nor have they just spent anyhow, they just stuck to their guns, and believed in their structure.
We can all look at games our teams have lost and criticize in general terms, but the view is wider, the panorama more sweeping to the eye. Judge Burnley on its overall season, not on individual games. We play to our strengths, we play to confound the opposition and strike when we create or get the chances to do so. It is irrelevant if you don't like the way we play, we couldn't care less. Even for Burnley fans there are times of frustration, but when we beat teams in the usual top six, or even draw with them, we are achieving results above our punching weight, but even so, we are still achieving them. Only fans disgruntled with their own team's efforts criticize unjustly, but when you look at the stability of Burnley Football Club, when you see the foundations (financially and in other areas) laid in this modern era by both the board and the management and players, you see a rock-solid English football club with old-school and modern sensibilities. There is nothing instant about Burnley. Stability over trophies is the key to small clubs. If you achieve a trophy or a higher position then that is merited and just reward.
It makes sense why irish players such as brady, walters and hendrick moved to burnley, the philosophy of the club matches the pride that the irish players have
With Southampton out of the Cup its now all but official - Burnley are actually going to Europe next season. From a United fan, well done Burnley and thank you for making this season a lot more interesting than it otherwise would've been what with Citeh running away with the title. And yeah, Dyche is a brilliant manager.
+christopher smith both English fair enough. my opinion British clubs like leeds etc should have British/Irish managers at least . and owner should be British too
And that’s what can be done when you run a smaller club the right way. It’s not too hard. Lot of respect for Burnley! Wish my club could take note, but our owners are trying to destroy us. #hcafc #AllamOut
'We're the smallest team in the league no doubt about that' - Bournemouth, Watford & Swansea all had lower average attendances last season. Yes their budget is far smaller than the traditional top 6 teams, but no team who is in the premier league has a small budget, that's a fact.
Mike Price Yes you are right they are the smallest town. But throughout history there have been smaller clubs. (Luton, Hull, Wigan etc). That being said Burnley is doing something that is very impressive.
